One of a kind property. Uniquely restored former church is light and airy with large rooms, abundance of natural light, sweeping views of sea and sky and fields, modern kitchen, all high end amenities. Watch the sun set over the ocean from the relaxing bluestone patio with views towards Montauk, Long Island.

All bedrooms are spacious and have their own ensuite bath. Large master bedroom on the first floor with queen bed, cathedral ceiling, shower/tub. Large queen bedroom upstairs with shower. Upstairs twin bedroom has shower and tub. Two 'pop-up' separate trundle beds underneath the two twin beds can double the capacity. Twin beds can be made into a king. Ceiling fans throughout.

Large living, entertaining area with gas fireplace, game table, and soft luxurious furnishings. The modern kitchen has every amenity. Big center island, hidden washer/dryer.

Relaxing outdoor living with patio and gas grill. Wide open space for children to play. Rest, read, or nap on a hammock between a couple of shade trees.

Perhaps the only outdoor shower with a stained glass window/mirror which is original to the former church. Look closely and you will find other items from the former church such as the stained glass mirrors in the upstairs bathrooms.

Island Lovers

We (3 adult couples) stayed at this beautiful home for a glorious week in June. This is our 19th year of BI renting and we finally found our home away from home. The house is very well equipped with top notch kitchen appliances, comfortable bed, we each had our own bathroom with a half bath to spare. We LOVE the outdoor shower. The use of some of the old stained glass window for mirrors, the bits of church original furniture scattered throughout the tasteful new furniture is very unique and lovely. The patio is great outdoor space (as is the hammock under the trees). We did not find it all that close to the road and appreciate that this landmark will enchant people to stop and take photos of the church front. They weren't a bother and we sometimes pose in the windows! It is very peaceful here and we've already blocked off our calendars to come back to the lovely home next year.

Just Wonderful

My family and I just returned from a wonderful week on Block Island. Rental homes are more our style as we have a 3-year old son who needs lots of room to "groove." That was certainly the case with this home. By far, my favorite rental home to date! I loved the very well-appointed kitchen, the comfortable rooms and just the feel and flow of the space. Initially, I thought staying in an old church might be spooky - was I wrong! I love the church remnants used to decorate the space, but that's the only thing that feels church-like! I agree that the house sits a little close to the road, but we never felt that our privacy was compromised. We just loved it! Friends from Vermont spent part of the week with us, and also raved how lovely the home was. My compliments to the owner for a job well-done, and to the rental agents for being so available and accommodating, both in advance and during our stay!

Can't wait for our vacation next year!

Not as private as you would think

I stayed here last year. While the inside of the hsoue is beautiful, please be very aware that this house is directly on the road. The rental agent will not bring that point up! The road actually wraps around the house, so that you see the raod from EVERY window. When you sit in the deck area in the backyard, you feel like you are on display for all the cars apssing by. And there are cars going by all day and at night too.
Owner's Response: It is unfortunate that this renter failed to feel the magic. We, the owners, have been here at the west side church home many times during peak tourist season and have found the property to be very peaceful and idyllic. We have a good number of repeat rentals from year to year and our guest book is full of rave reviews. The west side church home is on a curve in the road, and we are talking small winding country road, not a major highway. You can't drive fast anywhere on the island because of the curvy roads. It sits up on a little knoll and sits back approximately 35 feet from the road in front. The base of the huge windows are 10 feet higher than the road. Sitting in the living room you don't see road, you see ocean and sky. As I sit here now I see the ocean and Montauk Point, Long Island, NY. We always have all the shades fully opened all day. You don't really see the road unless you are right up to the window looking out and down. The back of the property abutts 2 acres of gently rolling field which is conserved land. The stone walls go back to very early settlers. There is an open lot to the right and natural coverings conceal the next house up the road. It is simply not true that you can see the road from every window. The patio can be seen from the road on the side, but is set back approximately 85 feet from the road. There is a large low bushy tree there now as a partial screen. More landscaping is planned in the future. The natural beauty all around you is the perfect setting for a memorable vacation getaway.

Will be hard to find a better place !

I've stayed here in-season and off-season and finding a better place will be tough...The descriptions of the house are very accurate. The renovations are new and you won't find that mustiness that many of the older homes have. The house is big enough so even if there are many of you, privacy is not hard to find. Also, I've stayed here having my own car with me and I've spent time with no car. Either worked well...cabs are cheap enough, reliable and easy to get. Many places to explore on foot or by bike....including beaches.

STAYING IN A PIECE OF BLOCK ISLAND HISTORY.

The pictures do not do this house justice. It has to be the most comfortable house we have ever stayed in on a vacation. Everything is 1st class. Each bedroom has it's own full bathroom which is very nice when you are renting with other couples. The outside patio has a very nice teak set for dinners or just enjoying the view of Montauk. Hiking trails all around. And the beaches of Block Island are beautiful.
We will deffinitely be going back...........
