BLUE REEF - A BEAUTIFUL, ELEGANT AND COMFORTABLE OCEANFRONT TOWNHOME

Blue Reef is an exceptional vacation home. The description, pictures and past reviews are accurate in depicting both the house and the attention from both Paula and Barbara. We spent a wonderful two weeks at the house with our family. The house itself is lovely and easy to maintain. We fully appreciated the well appointed kitchen for the meals we chose to stay in and dine al fresco on the terrace. The residents and other guests at Delaport Point were friendly and made us feel welcome. We have rented many homes around the world with our family and this has been one of the best experiences we have had. Not only was Paula quick to respond to any inquiry before our trip, she was checking in and making sure everything was perfect during our stay. Barbara was great at getting us settled,giving us island information, arranging our car rental, and also checked in on us several times. The location ( just ten minutes from the airport) is ideal for those wishing a gorgeous ocean front location with beach and pools for lounging and reefs for snorkeling off shore. The patio provided our evening entertainment of lounging with cocktails to watch the sun set. Looking out the french doors from the master bed gives the illusion of being on a ship as you can only see the crystal blue water. The townhouse was private and quiet, just the sounds of the ocean with spots to curl up and read. There were a few board games, a deck of cards, and a selection of DVD's we enjoyed after dinner. We had a wonderful trip with our kids and would highly recommend Blue Reef.
Activities: We rented a paddle board from Pappasurf (located above the Original Swiss Bakery)to play with in the ocean. Booked a day with Capt. Carl (Bahama Boat Tours)who took us snorkeling, fishing and to a private beach - he was great and his boat was very nice. We packed picnics and explored some of the other island beaches as well as the quiet far side of Paradise Island. Nirvana on Love Beach charges $5 a person to use their beach and lounge chairs. They serve drinks on the beach and food (not too great) on the patio. Local spear fishers along the shores will sell you any fish or lobsters before they bring to the restaurants. Since we have stayed at Compass Point before we like to go there for cocktails and/or dinner but the best fine dining we had was at Mahogany House and the best casual was Spritz across the street at Sandy Port.

This townhouse is ideal for 5-6 people!!! The layout was ideal with 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 1 bedroom on the 3rd floor with all the entertaining occuring on the 1st floor. The views are amazing! Every waking hour was spent out on the great outdoor porch, enjoying the ocean breezes and the great sunsets. The kitchen is furnished with great appliances which caused us to stay in and cook more than we had originally planned.

This townhouse is located in Delaporte Point, which puts you outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Nassau, making it a peaceful and relaxing retreat. There are many great restaurants very close by. The Poop Deck has good food and even a cheap happy hour each day. The Twisted Lime, Spritz, & Beach Club Cafe are worth checking out too.

Paula was excellent to work with. She checked in with us leading up to our trip and then also provided great recommendations for restaurants/grocery/etc. once we were there. Barbara greeted us on our first day and was also great with recommendations of places to visit.

Exploring Nassau -- recommendations include a visit to Cabbage Beach & Atlantis. Also, if you are a cigar aficionado , check out Graycliff and roll a cigar -- the property is amazing.

We loved staying at this apartment in Delaporte Pointe. It was huge and had everything we needed. The view is gorgeous. It's great to be able to step out on your patio and see the ocean. The beach is just a minute's walk away and is very nice. The ocean was really calm and clear most days. The wifi always worked well and it seemed the TV had a lot of channels if you're one to watch it (we didn't).

The owner of the property, Paula, was a pleasure to deal with and was always very prompt with her email replies. The property manager, Barbara, was also wonderful. She was so kind, helpful and reliable.

We had our 16 month old with us and found the house very easy to navigate with him. Usually when we stay somewhere, we have to rearrange everything to make sure he doesn't get hurt, but that wasn't a problem here. The apartment is very nicely appointed and also comfortable.

The #10 jitney is fun to take and runs frequently during the day. It stops right out front. Most of the drivers were super friendly and helpful. You pay as you get off. We did find the road in front of Delaporte Pointe a bit hard to walk on, as there are no sidewalks and the side of the road is very narrow. I think this is pretty typical across the island. The closest grocery is Supervalue, but it isn't very nice. You can take the #10 to City Market, which is near Sandals and is much newer and nicer. It's much easier than walking with bags on the narrow curb. Solomon's Fresh Market on the West End is like Whole Foods, but you need to either pay someone to take you or rent a car. We paid Barbara to take us on the way from the airport and it was very nice. Had everything you would expect.

We ate at the Poop Deck and the Beach Club Cafe. The food was good at both, but very expensive. Be warned, we were charged $12 for a bottle of water at the Beach Club Cafe. The food and view were nice, but I'd skip the water! In town, the Ardastra Zoo and Garden is great and the Fish Fry is fun. Ask Barbara which Fish Fry restaurant to try.

If my son had been a bit older, we probably would have done some sort of tour around Nassau. The streets can be hard to walk on without sidewalks, so it was hard to see all of the forts downtown.

I would absolutely recommend this property to someone else and we hope to return ourselves one day! Thank you to Paula and Barbara for our great trip!
