This home is in one of the best locations in town and has amazing views of San Miguel de Allende! The property is a restored historic grand Colonial home two blocks from the Jardin.
The Penthouse: This a large (1800 SF) apartment, with two private terraces, is light-filled so you will feel like you live here in this colonial paradise.
Also: There is a one bedroom studio apartment with private entrance at the same address that sleeps two. Please email me for more information.
Alice, the owner, has traveled all over the world, which is reflected in the decor of the penthouse, which is a combination of folkloric Mexican design with ethnic details and flourishes.
The penthouse has an open living/kitchen area with a study nook to the side. However, we know that you will spend most of your time on the adjacent covered 500-SF 'outdoor living room' with 280-degree views and lots of comfortable furniture for lounging, entertaining (or having a siesta!). Plus, there is another huge terrace atop the penthouse for sunset cocktails or sunning, with 360-degree views.
The penthouse features a luxurious bedroom with a view of San Miguel's famous churches, with a very comfortable king bed and high-quality linens. Plus, there's a queen futon in the living room. The large bathroom has beautiful locally-made Talavera tiles.
There are many other amenities: a fully-equipped kitchen, Wifi, TV with basic cable, daily maid service, Southern hospitality and parking nearby. Alice, the owner, lives onsite and will do everything possible to make your stay in San Miguel de Allende a truly memorable experience.
The guest house is located in the heart of the historical area. It has some of the best views in town, with up-close views of two of the most important historical colonial churches in San Miguel. Spectacular views also include the surrounding mountains and romantic sunsets.
The home is across the street from the town’s original plaza, Plaza Civica, and was a place for weary travelers to rest their animals and themselves for the night. It is like living in a piece of history.
Everything you need is right outside your door. Fresh-made tortillas, vegetable or fruit juices, and a grocery store are within half a block. It is an easy 2-1/2 block walk to Jardin, outdoor folk market, language schools, theaters, art galleries, bars and restaurants.
The penthouse very private. It has it's own entrance from the lovely garden, just off the main entrance to the Casa Grande. You can come and go as you please. And, as we said, you have two private decks for your exclusive use.
Everything, including coffee and juice upon arrival, daily light maid service and the 5% San Miguel lodging tax is included in your rental.

I am a retired American woman. If I could find a place to live that I like better than San Miguel I would move there. I have been an antique and textile dealer for years. I believe this town and my 300 year old property exhibit a strong sense of place, authenticity, sustainability ethnic and community involvement. The climate is as close to perfect that I have ever found. In the last few years, I have traveled SE Asia many times to design clothes and/or buy treasures for resale in this area. Many of these peices now grace Alice's Palaces. My four grown children always seem to enjoy visiting me here more than where I used to live in Texas!
Because this is my very special, beloved home... and I choose to share it with visitors. It has many personal touches that I enjoy sharing my my guests. Since I have traveled so widely, I enjoy welcoming other visitors to the home and city that I love so much.
My home is located in the vibrant center of this artistic, historic colonial town, with old-world charm and vast cultural offerings. I am located in the heart of the historical district back in the middle of the block where one does not normally hear street noises. The upper patios and terraces offer my guests direct views of the beautiful architectural wonders on central Mexico. This property was built 300 years ago as a Meson, which is where travelers would bed themselves and their horses down for the night. The brick and tile floors are original.
This little town has more cultural events than most large cities. There are art galleries galore, theaters, music, amazing restaurants, live music, indigenous cultural events, writer's conferences, art schools, photography schools, etc.
