Daniels Pond is a little slice of Vermont heaven - a perfect location to enjoy some peace and tranquility. It is a nature lovers delight!

The cottage is waterfront, with the shoreline only steps from the door. It has an open floor plan with cedar walls, exposed wood beams and views of the water and mountains at every turn. This fully appointed lakefront home sleeps 6 people (including children).

It is located in an area known as the Northeast Kingdom, named by the National Geographic Center for Sustainable Destinations as one of the most desirable places to visit in the United States. Daniels Pond is a 66 acre pond of quiet, pristine water, well known for the spectacular, romantic summer sunsets. It's quiet, in part because Vermont does not allow powerboats or jet skis on this pond.

Stay with us and enjoy swimming along with the use of the canoe and row boat (& life preservers) waiting for you by the dock! Feel free to bring your own kayaks as it takes about an hour to paddle around the pond. Right outside your door is the level yard, private sandy shore and dock, located on a very quiet dead end road. A great place for families to play, walk, ride bikes and enjoy the water. This is a majestic place that gives you a wonderful sense of getting back to nature and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

Why not just sit back and relax, watch the clouds go by and gaze up at the stars each night....when was the last time you did that?

About Kristi & Ed Bride, Owners

The owners, Kristi & Ed are from VT. We have been married for more than 25 years and love our calm retreat that is our 'secret' on Daniels Pond. We grew up an hour away from Glover, near Montpelier, the capital city. You might run into us at Courier's Store or Pete's Greens Farm Stand. Maybe you would pass us on the Mt. Pisgah trail, bid against us at an Albany auction or catch us floating the afternoon away on the pond. Whether we're chasing a golf ball down the Westmore golf course, standing in line for a soft serve (creemie) at the Barton Pharmacy or eating a Strawberry Shortcake at the Irasburg Church Fair, we enjoy exploring the towns of the Northeast Kingdom and all they have to offer.

From May to October we like to shop for vegetables, eggs and more at farm stands on the side of the road and the many local Farmers Markets. Visit local country stores, small family owned shops, county fairs, festivals & church suppers. Make time to check out the Bread & Puppet Theater Museum, Circus Smirkus, Craftsbury Chamber Players as well as the many artists that reside in the area. This is where you get outside in the summer to enjoy hiking, biking, fishing and boating on some of the most beautiful land & water anywhere. In the fall, the foliage is legendary and not to be missed. From Thanksgiving through March, skiing/riding Jay Peak, Burke or Stowe, and snowshoeing, ice skating and snowmobiling are available throughout the area. Jay Peak also has a huge, amazing indoor water park that is open year round! Each spring brings the 'Maple Sugar Season' where the famous VT Maple Syrup 'Liquid Gold' is bottled for all to enjoy on pancakes, ice cream & more!

What makes this house unique

Daniels Pond is so beautiful and the cottage was built by hand in the 1980's by Kristi's Dad with cedar trees he cut down. As you can see it is waterfront and has a small sandy beachfront on the edge of the pond, perfect for wading in the water slowly or sitting on the dock and kicking your feet. This is a magical place to relax, reconnect and get away from it all. How can one choose between the sunrise, the beautiful canoe and row boat rides during the day or the unbelievable sunsets? Luckily, you don't have to - they are all right in front of you.

Great location to visit Jay Peak Resort for skiing/riding, the amazing NEW Indoor Water Park, year round Ice Skating Rink and Championship Golf Course. If a road bike is your passion, try the (25/50 or) century rides on Route 16 and more through the gorgeous hills and valleys of the Northeast Kingdom. Those that like to explore other cultures, remember to bring your passports! The Canadian border is only 35 minutes away, where you can drive through the Eastern Townships in the Province of Quebec, We love to explore the small Wineries, the Lavender Fields and shops and brasserie's in and around the towns of Magog, Fitch Bay & Stanstead. You can also venture to Montreal for music, comedy and art, just a 2 hour drive away! This cottage is a perfect home base to make day trips. Shop at a real VT Country Store - Currier's Quality Market (6mi) or C&C Supermarket (8mi) for your grocery needs. Visit the Hill Farmstead Brewery (Greensboro) for top rated microbrew and make time to eat at Claire's (Hardwick) for outstanding local ingredients or have a pizza at The Parker Pie Co (W. Glover) and see why it's rated one of the best in America!

Myself and 6 others stayed here for a long weekend over New Years. The house was amazing. Everything we needed was at hand and exactly where the owners/realtor said it would be. The realtor was easily accessible and returned all of our emails and calls with urgency and even stopped in when we first arrived to make sure everything was to our liking. There were plenty of things to do in the area. It was only short drive away to the grocery store, canada, local bars/restaurants and Jay Peak Ski Resort.

The house was cozy and well stocked. Plenty of blankets, towels, toiletries and supplies. We were pleasantly surprised to find a little basket of travel sized toiletries and first aid supplies in the bathroom, just like you would see in a hotel. The atmosphere of the house was welcoming and homey with with "welcome" notes and instructions for anything that needed explaining.

If you are looking for privacy within the house this is not the place. There is only one enclosed bedroom. The other beds are in the loft area and a pull out couch on the ground floor. This however was not an issue with the group as we came to the house to spend time together and make unforgettable memories and that is exactly what we did.

I highly recommend this house for anyone looking for a home away from home, vacation or just a long weekend get away. I know I will definitely be back!
