FALL FOLIAGE GET AWAY...RELAXING WATERFRONT COTTAGE IN NORTHEAST KINGDOM VERMONT

Glover House Rental Photos and Description

Dreaming of a Getaway filled with peace and tranquility?

How can one choose between the sunrise, the beautiful canoe and row boat rides during the day or the unbelievable sunsets? Luckily, you don't have to - they are all right in front of you when you stay in our Getaway Cottage on Daniels Pond!

Have you ever stayed at a mountain top lake? Daniels Pond is a little slice of Vermont heaven - a perfect location to enjoy some peace and tranquility. It is a nature lovers delight!

The cottage is waterfront, with the shoreline only steps from the door. It has an open floor plan with cedar walls, exposed wood beams and views of the water and mountains at every turn. This fully appointed lakefront home comfortably sleeps 6 people (including children).

It is located in an area known as the Northeast Kingdom, named by the National Geographic Center for Sustainable Destinations as one of the most desirable places to visit in the United States. Daniels Pond is a 66 acre pond of quiet, pristine water, well known for the spectacular, romantic summer sunsets. It's quiet, in part because Vermont does not allow powerboats or jet skis here.

Enjoy the fishing, swimming, use of our canoe, row boat and 2 pool floats. Feel free to bring your own kayaks as it takes about an hour to paddle around the pond. Right outside your door is the level yard, picnic table, private dock and shoreline. The cottage is located on a very quiet dead end road. A great place for couples and families to walk, play, ride bikes and enjoy the water. This is a majestic place that gives you a wonderful sense of getting back to nature and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

Why not just sit back and relax, watch the clouds go by and gaze up at the stars each night....when was the last time you did that? Don't you deserve A Getaway?

The owners, Kristi & Ed are from VT. We have been married for more than 25 years and love our calm retreat that is our 'secret' on Daniels Pond. We grew up an hour away from Glover, near Montpelier, the capital city. Kristi has been visiting the pond with family since she was a little girl. You might run into us at Currier's Store or Pete's Greens Farm Stand. Maybe you would pass us on the Mt. Pisgah trail, bid against us at an Albany auction or catch us floating the afternoon away on the pond. We have fun chasing a golf ball down the Westmore golf course, standing in line for an ice cream at the Pick & Shovel and eating a Strawberry Shortcake at the Irasburg Church Fair. One of our favorite places in July is Fitch Bay (Quebec-so bring your passport) where wineries and Bleu Lavande (Lavender Fields) are located. We enjoy exploring the towns of the Northeast Kingdom (and Eastern Townships of Quebec) and all they have to offer.

Kristi & Ed Bride, Owners purchased this house in 2012

The Central Location! From May to October we like to shop for vegetables, eggs and more at farm stands on the side of the road and the many local Farmers Markets. Visit local country stores, small family owned shops, county fairs, festivals & church suppers. Make time to check out the Bread & Puppet Theater Museum, Circus Smirkus, Craftsbury Chamber Players as well as the many artists that reside in the area. This is where you get outside in the summer to enjoy hiking, biking, fishing and boating on some of the most beautiful land & water anywhere. In the fall, the leaves change color and the foliage is legendary - you have to see it to believe it! From December through April, skiing/riding Jay Peak, Burke Mountain or Stowe, and snowshoeing, ice skating and snowmobiling are available throughout the area. Jay Peak also has a huge, amazing indoor water park that is open year round! Each spring brings the 'Maple Sugar Season' where the famous VT Maple Syrup 'Liquid Gold' is bottled for all to enjoy on pancakes, ice cream & more!

Daniels Pond is so beautiful and this cottage was hand built in the 1980's by Kristi's Dad with cedar trees he cut down. As you can see it is waterfront and has a small sandy beachfront on the edge of the pond, perfect for wading in the water slowly or sitting on the dock and kicking your feet. In the winter, it's perfect for Snowshoeing, Ice Fishing and Cross Country Skiing on the pond. This is a magical place to relax, reconnect with nature (and each other) and get away from it all. Don't you deserve A Getaway on Daniels Pond?

GREAT GETAWAY COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
This was simply an outstanding rental experience from the minute we entered the house. Beautiful classical music playing, champagne and wine bottles for my Birthday, and maple syrup on the kitchen table. We were also greeted with a nice personal welcome message on the little blackboard. This was really the most accommodating house we've rented in all our nine years. Of course this is all because of the fantastic owner Kristi who truly went above and beyond to provide the best possible stay for her guests. Everything you would need in a house was taken care of. It is very clean and comfy. The cottage is located in a very quiet and peaceful area with an amazing view of the lake. If you're tired of the hectic city life and just want to get away from it all, then I think this is really your next place to go.

A HIDDEN GEM IN THE NE KINGDOM

  • 5 of 5
We didn't realize how much we needed to get away, until we arrived on Friday night. It was a beautiful evening with just the sound of nature filling the air. We walked in and noticed immediately how clean and well appointed our home was for our stay. Everything we could need was taken care of and everything we could want to know about what to do in the community was readily available. We did eat those donuts, during our brief foray out to town, but decided to enjoy the peace and quiet that this home offered to decompress and restore ourselves. I can't imagine any other location offering this type of TLC and will be forever spoiled by the care that Ed and Kristi offered us and whose attention to detail made our trip so special. Our second night offered the most incredible view of the stars that we didn't want to go to sleep. We never get that type of view at home and would have happily slept outside but our room was so inviting, we eventually chose to go inside. We did cook during our stay and was grateful to find most everything we have in our own kitchen. We generally feel we need to bring many items from home which was unnecessary for our trip. We even took in a canoe trip, where we felt safe with the supply of life jackets and no motorboat traffic. If you want to discover a unique area of Vermont that offers local flavor, incredible scenery, impeccable location, then this is the place for you. We are looking forward to our next stay and will forever use this as a benchmark for any other location we choose to vacation in the future. I am all ready thing about how amazing the night sky would be during the winter! Thank you again for taking such great care of us!

We were proud to be the first international guests at Getaway Cottage.
You can be 100% confident in booking this lovely cottage in its stunning surroundings. You will have everything there that you will need - and if not, your hosts will provide it for you pronto.
Our October stay was cozy and warm thanks to the hugely efficient stove and I can only begin to imagine how glorious it must be in summer.
If you like peace and natural beauty this is the place for you.

SISTER'S WEEK-2013

Sister's Week-2013
  • 5 of 5
Our "Getaway" was amazing!! We talked, laughed, drank wine down by the dock, watched the amazing sunsets, drank a little more wine in front of the comfy fireplace stove...Everywhere we love to visit was just a short drive thru beautiful countryside and great places to stop...We fell in love with Daniel's Pond and Getaway Cottage...and look forward to next time!! Kristy & Ed were such gracious and welcoming hosts and made my sister and I feel beyond welcome. The book of activities, the welcome gifts, soft music playing on our arrival, a spotlessly clean and cozy environment and a big welcome on the blackboard...we knew this was just the perfect place to be and so it was!! We were home in our "Getaway" for a woefully needed week of rest and relaxation with no agenda but to drift and do whatever we wanted to and that is exactly what we did. Knowing we had such a comfortable and welcoming home to come back to was beyond delightful. Thank you Kristi, Ed and Arthur, too! Debbie and I had a wonderful time on our sister's trip and look forward to our return..(but we can't tell everybody because they will all want to come too!!)

GREAT "GET AWAY" FROM IT ALL COTTAGE IN VERMONT

Great "Get Away" from it all Cottage in Vermont
  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay at Get Away cottage so much !! would recommend for anyone wanting to get away from it all with quiet atmosphere. Kristi and Ed the owners were very helpful at providing things to do and nearby attractions. Also neighbors and Manager Arthur and his wife Linda were very accommodating and wonderful to talk to .. Cottage was very comfortable and they even gave us a nice little gift on arrival. Very thoughtful ! We enjoyed kayaking on the Pond in the morning and catching some fish and Hiking on nearby Lake Wiloughby. Make sure you take a trip to Glover and visit Culvers General store great streaks there and very interesting store. Also don't forget to visit Parker Pie just up the road and Hill Farmstead Brewery, where they have very tasty beer. Biking around the area was very good as well, so if you like to bike don't forgot these .. We just want to thank Kristi and Ed for the use of their beautiful cottage and the warm welcome they gave my husband and I . Thanks Again Cindy And Gerald

OUT-OF-THE-WAY/GET-AWAY

  • 5 of 5
A great place to chill out and relax. When you’ve finally unwound enough to see some of the countryside, take a ride to Newport (not on I91) or to the Cabot Creamery. This is real New England! The sunsets over the pond were spectacular and the wildlife… a joy to behold (daily visits from a Loon pair). The cottage too was a treasure, clean as a whistle, and all we needed to be self-sufficient for the week we were there.
