Lovely, immaculate 4 BR, 3BA home situated on private 2 acre property abutting acres of forested land bank property. Walking trails lead from property to Blackwater Pond Reservation and Wompesket Preserve, and Lambert's Cove beach is only 2 miles away. Fully-equipped, recently renovated, modern kitchen, with high-end appliances, granite counter tops, and island offer the comforts of home. A private, screened-in porch lets you enjoy cool island evenings, while the upper deck provides fantastic star-gazing opportunities. Modern baths, cable TV, high-speed internet (and a separate office), a gaming table with board games, and a Wii U (if all else fails) offer amusements.

Property also has a small, 3rd floor observation tower and a separate 2 bedroom, 1BA guest house (on property), with fully functioning kitchen and living area, for larger groups - the guest property can be rented for an additional charge or rented separately from the main house for an intimate getaway.

This is the first summer following renovations and new ownership that the property has been offered for rental.

My wife and I are both 'recovering lawyers'. I work as a consultant and adviser to digital media and internet companies, and my wife is an independent film and television producer. We have two energetic, active, enthusiastic, frequently maddening but overall wonderful boys (ages 11 and 9), and try to steal away to the island (we live in the NY area) whenever we can.

We've been coming to the island for almost 25 years. Probably an understatement to say we love it; we really feel at home and relaxed when we are on MV. We know a lot about the island, and believe West Tisbury is one of the best, and most fun, places to stay. Happy to suggest things to do, restaurants, beaches to visit, activities for kids, things to see, and etc.

This is our dream place. We've rented and vacationed all over the island, and can say without a doubt that this location is our favorite. The house is secluded and private; it sits on two acres, and abuts acres of land bank property. Trails lead to Blackwater Pond Reservation, the Hoft Field House, and Wompesket Preserve, which offer great, scenic hikes (and awesome trail runs) and fishing. The house is a very short drive (less than 3 miles) to Lambert's Cove beach (a perfect family beach, as the waves are mild). Its also close to Vineyard Haven, making grocery shopping or last minute errands easy to accomplish.

We think of it as a modern farmhouse: private, wooded, a bit of a rustic feel, but with modern amenities, including a renovated kitchen with a high-end stove, floating island, granite counter tops and plenty of entertainment space. Plenty of room to spread out, 3 full Bathrooms make visits by larger groups comfortable, and modern conveniences like cable and high-speed internet let you keep in touch with the outside world.

Staying in West Tisbury provides a unique island experience. Enjoy nature, a sense of farm living, easy access to the beach, and all the modern conveniences.

Fun fact: John Hoft Road (the road leading to the house) is an 'ancient way', the legal definition of which is a “[w]ay used as such from time immemorial, and no record of their origin was known to exist” (told you I was a lawyer). This means it was cleared sometime before 1846, most likely by the original owner of the surrounding land, farmer John Hoft. The surrounding paths were likely used by Hoft and, before that, the indigenous Wampanoag tribe, as far back as the early 17th century.

Great place to stay!

My family and I stayed at David's place in July 2014 and had a fantastic time. It's a very private property, but is still 5 minutes from the grocery store and 10 minutes from Vineyard Haven. The house itself was plenty big and was in great shape, except for a few burned out light bulbs here and there. Overall, I would definitely recommend this property!
