APARTMENT 401 GRAND HOTEL 53 SPENCER ST

Apartment is in a good location and is spacious.

Unfortunately for us it was not clean. (KITCHEN - dried spilt milk on kitchen floor; sticky mess on fridge shelves, broken fridge door shelf with broken piece left on shelf; wet sponge left in cupboard; rubbish left in kitchen cupboard; filter jug half filled with water and glass bottle with water left on kitchen bench; plastic knives, forks and spoons+++ from takeaway food. BATHROOMS - tampon wrapper left on shelf; used towel left on shelf; hair in shower recess; hair in all corners of bathroom floor, toilet seats left up on our arrival empty softsoap bottles. BEDROOMS - no mattress protectors; rubbish left in every cupboard, old candles and infusers left on desk along with a supply of computer cords on the cupboard and on the floors). I would say that the apartment had been vacuumed but no floor was washed. The floor mop was bone dry and it took a while for me to get it soaked through so that I could mop the floor!

It was not fully equipped for 6 people... 4 forks, 4 soup spoons, 4 dessert spoons, 1 mug, 3 teacups, NO wine glasses, no hair dryer, no dishcloths or teatowels.

No starter packs provided - but there was 1 leftover flavoured teabag, an empty small coffee jar, remnants of sugar left in canister, empty washing up detergent bottle, an empty packet of dishwashing tablets.

The dining room chairs need repairing, one fell apart as it was pulled out from the table and we had to put another aside as it was also unsafe to sit on.

There was no compendium of information on the apartment, hence - finding stations on the TV (analogue only or may have been linked to the hotel's tv stations?) was difficult and there were 3 channels of porn to deal with; exits and entries were confusing particularly after 9pm when doors are locked; where do you throw the rubbish?? especially when you are in the apartment for a week.

This was the Thursday evening before Easter at 4 pm we arrived to be greeted by less than welcoming conditions and after I had washed the floor twice I was quite angry, fortunately I had kept the RE's phone number and contacted him and he sent through a cleaner along with cutlery, crockery teatowels etc. He took away 4 bags of rubbish and left at 8 pm. Our party had 2 young children, they were tired and hungry by this stage. The cleaner had said that the apartment had been rented out to a group that had more than 6 people-then the clean should have been better not worse.
