About Evanly Schindler
I am an editorial / creative director, entrepreneur, and single Papa and spend most of my time between the lovely worlds of the Hamptons, Manhattan, West Coast, and Europe.
Evanly Schindler purchased this house in 2000
Why Evanly Schindler chose Sag Harbor
Growing up in Manhattan and going to the Hamptons since I was a child, I rented this home for a few summers before purchasing it. Friends always say, 'If you close your eyes and open them upon arriving at the house you imagine that you are in the South of France, or a remote and beautiful natural area of the US. It is magical and not at all like one pictures The Hamptons.' The house has zen like qualities, utter tranquility, quiet, and the surroundings are wood and farmlands with homes scattered about large areas of nature. I love the house because you feel like you are away from it all, but if you want to surf, dine, party, or see the beautiful people it's all right there.
What makes this house unique
At night there are more stars overhead then you have ever seen or imagined. As you grill on the deck the Raccoons, Wild Turkeys, and Owls say hello. Later while taking mid-night swims the world seems empty as if you are alone in a remote place. There are few neighbors so anything goes. The sun rises outside the master suite and sets beyond the pool while you swim, cocktail, and dine on the deck. The good times, laughs, and relaxation at the house are built into its DNA. Sunset at Long Beach or Ocean Road Beach with a bottle of Vino and lobsters from the seafood shack in Sag Harbor set the mood for magical summer days—with occasional debaucherous nights at The American Hotel, Pierres, or in Montauk.
The house is perfectly located just walking distance to the nearest bay beach, a few minutes car drive to Sag Harbor and Bridgehampton Villages, and 20 minutes to Montauk.
