This house has many features and is about 5000 square feet on two levels. The first level features a large open area which includes the kitchen, dining and living area. The four sets of French doors lead out to an enclosed four season porch.
The kitchen features KitchenAid appliances including a refrigerator, dishwasher, convection oven, induction cooktop and microwave. There is also a Keurig coffeemaker (a second coffeemaker is downstairs). Also available are spices, plates, cutlery and cooking utensils that will easily provide service for a large group. The kitchen includes an island with a double sink and large counter with seating for four.
The dining area in the greatroom seats six which flows into the living area that has a leather couch and chair, firepace and plenty of lighting for reading as well as a flat screen TV. The great room features hardwood floors with area rugs accenting the respective living areas. The two ceiling fans provide a complement to the available central AC.
The four sets of French doors lead out to the expansive 12 X 44 four season enclosed porch. The porch features sitting areas at both ends along with a generous area for dining for 18. Use this area to sit and enjoy the view of Lake Michigan and the surrounding woods.
The first level includes a 19 X 16 master bedroom with en suite. This room has a king bed and features a 45 inch flat screen TV, multiple windows facing the lake and the woods south of the house. The en suite bathroom has a walk-in shower, double sink and private toilet area.
The first floor also includes an 11 X 13 guest bedroom with a queen bed, ceiling fan and window views to the east and the surrounding woods. The guest bath is next door and includes a walk-in shower, high ceiling and built-in ironing board.
A carpeted 11 steps takes you down to the lower level where the 20 X 23 media room awaits you on the right. This space includes a 65 inch flat screen TV, surround sound and other entertainment options with seating for 12. Included is a card/game table, bar area and a well appointed kitchenette. The laundry room is just off the media room with washer and dryer available.
Connected by double doors from the media room is the lower level master bedroom. This 19 X 14 bedroom is connected by a double door walkout to the back deck and has a view to the lake. The room has a king bed, 42 inch flat screen TV and DVD player. The en suite master bathroom includes a walk-in tiled shower featuring a soothing rain shower. This room also includes a full sleeper/sofa that features a built in air mattress.
Down a short hallway from the media room is the lower level guest bath. This bathroom features a walk-in tiled shower and a convenient double entrance/exit.
The hallway continues into the large family suite which features two bedrooms with views to the lake and a sitting area. The 11 X 16 first bedroom has a view to the north of the surrounding woods. This bedroom features a large closet and a king sized XL bed. The adjoining bedroom is 11 X 24 and features two XL twin beds and a day bed that can sleep two. This bedroom has a slider door which faces the woods to the south and opens to the back deck.
The lower level also includes an additional 15 X 10 guest bedroom with a queen bed and flat screen TV. Adjoining this room is the large 17 X 21 kids dorm which features four twins, a flat screen TV and closet space. Adjoining this room is the fifth bathromm featuring a tub/shower combination.
As you exit the house from either the enclosed porch, master lower bedroom or the family suite a 19 X 17 deck awaits you. This gathering area features a Weber propane gas grill, a Weber charcoal grill, an enclosed storage area and two picnic tables with umbrellas
A few steps across the yard sits the 13 X 16 three season enclosed gazebo. The gazebo features lighting and a mini-fridge for refreshments. The four sided structure has sliding windows/screens and affords a wonderful view of the lake and surrounding woods.
A short walk down and across the yard takes you to a 14 X 25 foot deck that sits on the bluff above the beach. The deck is surrounded on two sides by safety glass that allows for uninterrupted views of Lake Michigan and the coastline north and south. Plenty of bench seating along with chairs/ tables provides room for relaxing. The key feature of the lake deck is the outdoor fireplace. Firewood is available and the deck also includes a hose for cleaning off sand as well as safety for the fireplace.
The lake deck is the access to a private set of stairs that takes you down to the beach. There are 30 stairs to the viewing platform and then an additional 49 steps down to the beach. You may opt to take an alternative route to the beach which would be a walk down the road in front of the house to the Old Channel Inn. Access to the public beach is a short walk from the restaurant . .
There are 6 kayaks of different sizes and types available for use including 2 stand up flat boards. Plenty of safety vests are provided as well. There is a fire ring to be used for camp fires on the beach in the evening and firewood is available.
The other outdoor features of the Lake House include a large front lawn for games and other activities. The wildlife in the area is abundant and you will enjoy spotting the deer, birds, and other animals.
Plenty of parking is available on site and with advance notification to the homeowner can accomdate a boat/trailer as well.

Charming lake towns of Montague/Whitehall are 10 minutes away with farmers markets, small shops, weekend events throughout the summer and access to White Lake marinas. There are weekly live music concerts at the Montague Bandshell which is a perfect way to spend a lovely summer evening.
Boating enthusists have a number of options including bringing your own boat and launching nearby or renting various. watercraft by the day or week. If fishing is your interest, charters can be arranged on Lake Michigan as well as White Lake. You can also fish off the White Lake Channel Pier which is a short walk from the Lake House.
For those golfers in your group there are many options in the area including the Old Channel Trail Golf course which is right up the road less than two miles. This is a well maintained 27 hole out layout including a practice range and instruction. Expanding your choices by 15 minutes could include the Grand View Golf Course in New Era which features breathtaking views from many elevated tee's. The challenging Thoroughbred Golf Club in Rothbury will definately test your golf skills and has been rated by Golf Digest as one of the top courses in Michigan. To the south is the Stonegate Golf Club located in Twin Lake, a 18 hole championship golf course which is fun as well as challenging to play. Within one hour you have several other excellent courses to play including the formidable Hemlock Golf Club in Ludington. This course is located a few minutes inland from Lake Michigan and has been sculpted from the natural landscape resulting in a truely beautiful golf course. Due east awaits the Pilgrim's Run golf course which is considered by many the 'best kept secret' in west Michigan golf. And finally for those golfers who truely want to experience the best golf in Michigan (and maybe the midwest) Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club is two hours north near Manistee. This beautiful course sits right on Lake Michigan and is a challenging links-style design. Acadia Bluffs was rated #10 in Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Public Courses to play in 2012.
Additional fun for the whole family includes Michigan Adventure Park (for the young and young at heart) 25 minutes away. There is also 22 miles of the paved Montague to Hart Bike path available. Bring your own bikes or rent from local Montague shops. A water park and dude ranch at the Double JJ Ranch is 15 minutes away in Rothbury, or about 30 minutes north is the Silver Lake Dunes area and the picturesque town of Pentwater. You can also take a canoe or kayak trip down the White River (see Happy Mohawk Canoe Livery for more information). And definitely don't forget about attending Moo School at the Country Dairy in New Era.
Renting the Old Channel Lakehouse affords you many different possibilities for a family or group vacation while enjoying the peace and quiet of beautiful West Michigan. The Lake House property is 2.5 acres of private escape featuring woods of pine, oak, maple and towering 100 year old black locust trees. Nature lovers will relish the calm of the surroundings, the wildlife of the area (including a family of eagles who nest nearby) and most importantly, the sun and waves of the Lake Michigan beach. The bluff, which offers majestic views of the lake from an expansive deck, is the access point to the beach via a set of well maintained private stairs, 30 steps to the small viewing platform and then on to the beach with an additional 49 steps. Or you can opt for a short walk down the road in front of the property which provides public access to the beach near the Old Channel Inn. The beach toys that are available for use include six kayaks (with swim vests) as well as kiddie buckets, shovels and all the other stuff you might need for a great day on the beach (chairs and umbrella) as well as beach towels.
