Mentor House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, a Homey Feel

Ranch Home close to Lake Erie and Metro Parks.

This home is a Ranch slab. It has 3 bedrooms: a master and two additional. Each bedroom has a queen-size bed (queen sheets and comforter) and at least two pillows (with two pillowcases per pillow), full closets and room for storage.

There is a 1/2 bathroom connected to the master bedroom. Included in the 1/2 bathroom is a shower and shower curtain, toilet, sink with storage, vanity with storage, and 2 towel racks.

There is 1 full bathroom in the middle of the home with a shower and shower curtain, tub, toilet, sink with storage, vanity with storage, a medium-size storage shelf, and a towel rack. There is a storage closet, which can be used for storage, toiletries, etc. Inside are bath towels, wash clothes, and hand towels.

From the hallway north, you have the pool room. The pool room comes with a pool table, pool cues, pool sticks, pool balls, a large open window, and a half wall which you can place your drinks/food on while playing some pool. To the front of the pool room is the front door, which leads out to the front stoop.

From the pool room you enter the kitchen and family room (the kitchen breaks off to the west, and the family room to the north). The kitchen includes a large kitchen table (sits 6 comfortably, you can add more if you need to); double sink and faucet for doing dishes; a dishwasher; a stove with ventilation; a large fridge/freezer; cooking utensils; pots; pans; microwave, lots of storage throughout the kitchen cupboards, and a window for viewing the backyard.

Off of the kitchen is additional storage lining each wall, a high-efficiency washer, a dryer, water heater, and furnace. There is also a drying bar if you want to air dry your clothes above the washer and dryer. West of this area is a door leading to the backyard deck.

Traveling back through the kitchen into the family room is a large couch and love sofa to the east, a writing desk to the west, a large t.v. (includes cable and DVD player) to the northwest, and a large sliding glass window to the west which leads to the backyard deck.

To the southeast of the couch is a door leading out to the garage. It is a two car garage with opportunities for storage. The garage does come with a remote opener. If you want to leave the garage door shut there is a man-door to the north of the garage which leads out to the side of the home and west through a large gate into the backyard.

Traveling west into the backyard, the backyard stretches the entire length of the house. There is a large, natural wood deck which runs almost the whole length of the home. Toward the end of the deck is an island of river rocks and hosta's. There are hosta and plant beds along the south of the house and west following the fence around the backyard.

Heading back out to the front of the home is a concrete driveway and large front yard. There is a large dog-bone rock/plant bed in the front yard, as well as a plant bed running along the entire front of the home and down the southwest side of the home. We have done our best to include all the comforts and pleasures of a home away from home!

About Kristin and Nathan Peters

We are Kristin and Nathan. We love what Mentor and the surrounding community has to offer. There is always something to do and see in Mentor!

Kristin and Nathan Peters purchased this house in 2004

Why Kristin and Nathan Peters chose Mentor

We choose this property because we love the area. It is close to fun activities, restaurants, parks and Lake Erie. The home is situated in a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors.

What makes this house unique

The location is perfect! It is in walking distance of Veterans Park and the Mentor Lagooons. You can walk, hike, bike and spend time outside exploring nature. You can bike to Mentor-on-the-Lake Beach park to enjoy a picnic and bike lazily around town. Or bike to Headlands Beach State Park, enjoy the beach, then bike home. Lake Metroparks and many yummy restaurants are within a short walking/driving distance. We've done a lot to bring nature to the backyard. I especially love the river of rocks and the large deck: perfect for family get togethers.

Vacation Stay

Very lovely house in a beautiful area. We felt at home and safe. Shopping nearby, freeway access, and everything we needed to enjoy. BBQ in the back on the deck was a nice way of having dinner after a day of competition at the Bowl in Wickcliff. We drove to the downtown area almost every day without any problems and got around just fine. The owner was very accommodating in helping me secure a printer for some work I needed to do. The pool table is in good condition and that was great to enjoy rather than watch TV. Any item that I felt needed attention (and they were few and very minor) were answered immediately. Washer and Dryer aided in requiring less to pack. All in all, we had a terrific time and have no problem recommending this property to anyone.

Worked great for us!!!!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Lakewood for 7 nights while attending our son's wedding. We were able to entertain in the lovely backyard, grill out and cook meals and generally spent most of our time at the home when not attending to wedding stuff. It was way better than a motel at a fraction of the price. The house and all amenities is exactly as advertised.

Very Pleasant Stay

  • 5 of 5
My family and I had a very pleasant stay at Lakewood Home! We loved grilling out every night and hanging out on the deck in the shade. The house was plenty big enough for all 8 (four adults and 4 kids under 12) of us. The owner, Kristin, was kind enough to allow us to use an air mattress for our 2 sons, at a very reasonable extra fee. Kristin was also very flexible when we asked to change our check-in date (arriving a day earlier than we had originally booked) at the last minute. We loved the pool table too-my husband enjoyed playing pool with the kids. We loved being close to the marina and walked there every day. The house was very clean too, it was quite impressive.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your compliments, Karen :) I'm glad you and your family had a very enjoyable stay and that you enjoyed your walks to the marina, using the grill, sitting outside surrounded by the gardens, and that your husband and children had fun in the pool room. Glad the air mattress worked out well for your two little ones too. I look forward to having you stay again!

Perfect short trip Stay!!!

  • 4 of 5
We had visited LakeWood Home for my Grad ceremony in CSU for the weekend. The property is 25 miles from the downtown which took us half hour to reach DT. The area is Calm and peaceful. we are 7 adults and the 3 bedrooms were all right and are spacious enough for us. The pool table in the front room!!! we really enjoyed playing pool. The only complain we have is there are no trash bags provided to dispose our trash in the house though there is one Giant trash can outside the Garage door. The sheets and comforters in the first bedroom to the left have all the dog hair on them; we did not use them and there were no extra comforters provided. It would have been great if there are extra comforters(at least one). Other than that we are fully satisfied with the home. Will definitely stay there if we come to Cleveland again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice things you had to say, Kartik. I did try contacting you before your review posted to address some of the complaints you had, but you never responded, and I respectfully disagree with all your complaints. There are four trash cans in the house, one in each bathroom, and two for the kitchen, which all come with clean bags upon each arrival, and there are three additional trash bags always provided. There is no dog hair in our home because I have family who come to stay who are severely allergic to dogs and guests who stay who might be allergic to dogs, and I wash and dry the comforters myself, and you did use the comforters and the sheets, so I'm perplexed as to why you state you did not. There is 1 quilt and 1 additional blanket provided at the home, which you used, so I'm also perplexed as to why you stated there were no additional blankets to use. Each guest gets a packet that I email to them providing a list of EVERYTHING provided in the home, as well as in the welcome booklet at the home. And I always encourage each guest to contact me, day or night, and I always say to call me rather than email me because I'm not always around my email, if there are any concerns or issues. I strive to make each stay as great as possible, and you the customer, come first.

Great home, wonderful renter

  • 4 of 5
My friends and I rented this beautiful home about 2 weeks ago while we were visiting Painsville area for a graduation. The owner Kristen was amazing! She was very helpful, welcoming, and flexible. The house was very cozy with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The game room was great and we ended up spending a lot of time shooting pool. The kitchen has everything that we needed so we ended up preparing 90% of our meals. Most importantly, the heater works great..we were very warm as it was snowing.

We were very pleased with this property. My family and I were visiting family that lived <5 miles from this house. It worked out perfectly! My 78-year-old father and 74-year-old mother were traveling with us and I just want to mention how accommodating this house is for elderly people. It has small steps at the entrances that make it easy to navigate plus a walk-in shower in the master bedroom. The house is close to the beautiful Lake Erie and was just as described on the ad. The owner was easy to work with and had very easy-to-understand directions. I would definitely recommend this house to friends and family and will be surprised if family or myself don't use it again.

Lakewood Home is located in a quiet suburb in north Mentor. Nearby is Lake Erie, The Mentor Lagoons, Mentor Marina, and Veterans Park. The Mentor Lagoons, Mentor Marina and Veterans Park are within a 1/2 mile walking distance and both have walking and hiking trails.

During the summer months (June-August) there are outdoor water sports to enjoy on Lake Erie, as well as hiking and biking opportunities on the Lake Metroparks trails. You can enjoy spending time at the pool June-August. Mentor has 3 city pools to choose from: summer passes can be bought or you can pay-as-you-go.

A fun adventure any time of the year is a trip to a winery. There are many wineries within a 20-40 minute drive where you can enjoy live music, dance, food, and of course wine. My favorite is the Grand River Cellars in Madison. Geneava-on-the-Lake is a quaint little town to visit for the day (25-30 minute drive east) and is abundant with wineries.

Mentor is one of the best places in the world to experience bird-watching. The Mentor Lagoons, less than 1/2 mile away, is ranked one of the best places in the world to bird watch.

Throughout the winter months (November-March) Lake Metroparks offers snow-skiing, cross-country skiing, winter hiking, sledding and tobogganing. There are many skiing opportunities 17-30 miles away: local favorites are Alpine Valley and Boston Mills/Brandywine.

Mentor has many festivals throughout the year, as well as many opportunities for family-friendly events at the Metroparks. These include, snowman building competitions and sledding adventures throughout the winter months (November-March); fall corn harvests, pumpkin rolls, clam bakes and haunted hay rides throughout the fall months (September-October); bug adventures, nature hikes, swimming and boating classes, and free concerts in the Mentor Civic Center park throughout the spring and summer months (April-August). I always keep an eye on the local City of Mentor webpage and Lake Metroparks webpage for up-coming events.

Mentor has a lot of good restaurants. Local favorites include Mama Robertos, Yours Truly, Scooters Dawg House (open March-September), Noosa Bistro, China Buffet, Aladdin's Eatery, FroYo Twist, Malley's, Cruisin 50's Diner. P.F. Changs and Cheesecake Factory are also favorites and they are in Beachwood (25 minute drive south).

There are plenty of golf courses and places to horseback. As you can see there is plenty to do and see for any and everyone!

Places to see and experience anytime of the year include:

- The Holden Arboretum (20 minute drive southeast)

- Lost Nation Sport Complex (10 minute drive west)

- Mentor Civic Arena in-door ice skating (2 minute drive south)

- Lake Metroparks

- Massages at Ladies and Gentleman Salon offers different massages packages (6 minute drive southeast)

- Great Lakes Mall (10 minute drive southwest)

- Painesville Antique Co-Op (20 minute drive east)

- Cleveland Botanical Gardens (25-30 minute drive west)

- Cleveland Science Center (25-30 minute drive west)

- Rock n Roll Hall of Fame (25 minute drive west)

- (in Kirtland, 20 minute drive southeast)

- Chips Clubhouse (in Chardon, 20 minute drive southeast)
