Photos and Description of the Mentor vacation house rental
3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, a Homey Feel

Ranch Home close to Lake Erie and Parks.

This home is a Ranch. It has 3 bedrooms: a master and two additional. The bedrooms are on the south side of the home. Each bedroom has a queen-size bed (queen sheets and comforter) and at least two pillows (with two pillowcases per pillow), full closets and room for storage.

There is a 1/2 bathroom connected to the master bedroom from the west. Included in the 1/2 bathroom is a shower and shower curtain, toilet, sink with storage, vanity with storage, and 2 towel racks.

There is 1 full bathroom in the middle of the home with a shower and shower curtain, tub, toilet, sink with storage, vanity with storage, a medium-size storage shelf, and a towel rack. There is a storage closet south of the full bathroom, which can be used for storage, toiletries, etc. Inside are bath towels, wash clothes, and hand towels.

Traveling north in the hallway from the full bathroom you come to the pool room. The pool room comes with a pool table, pool cues, pool sticks, pool balls, a large open window, and a half wall which you can place your drinks/food on while playing some pool. To the east of the front of the pool room is the front door, which leads out to the front stoop.

Continuing on north from the pool room you enter the kitchen and family room (the kitchen breaks off to the west, and the family room to the north). The kitchen includes a large kitchen table (sits 6 comfortably, you can add more if you need be); double sink and faucet for doing dishes; a dishwasher; a stove with ventilation; a large fridge/freezer; cooking utensils; pots; pans; microwave, lots of storage throughout the kitchen cupboards, and a window west of the kitchen table for viewing the backyard.

South off of the kitchen is additional storage lining each wall, a high-efficiency washer, a dryer, water heater, and furnace. There is also a drying bar if you want to air dry your clothes above the washer and dryer. West of this area is a door leading to the backyard deck.

Traveling back through the kitchen into the family room is a large couch and love sofa to the east, a writing desk to the west, a large t.v. (includes cable and DVD player) to the northwest, and a large sliding glass window to the west which leads to the backyard deck.

To the southeast of the couch is a door leading out to the garage. It is a two car garage with opportunities for storage. The garage does come with a remote opener. If you want to leave the garage door shut there is a man-door to the north of the garage which leads out to the side of the home and west through a large gate into the backyard.

Traveling west into the backyard, the backyard stretches the entire length of the house (south). There is a large, natural wood deck which runs almost the whole length of the home. Toward the end of the deck is an island of river rocks and hosta's. There are hosta and plant beds along the south of the house and west following the fence around the backyard.

Heading back out to the front of the home is a concrete driveway and large front yard. There is a large dog-bone rock/plant bed in the front yard, as well as a plant bed running along the entire front of the home and down the southwest side of the home. We have done our best to include all the comforts and pleasures of a home away from home!

About Kristin Peters

We are Kristin and Nathan. We love what Mentor and the surrounding community has to offer. There is always something to do and see in Mentor!

Kristin Peters purchased this house in 2004
Why Kristin Peters chose Mentor

We choose this property because we love the area. It is close to fun activities, restaurants, parks and Lake Erie. The home is situated in a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors.

What makes this house unique

The location is perfect! It is in walking distance of Veterans Park and the Mentor Lagooons. You can walk, hike, bike and spend time outside exploring nature. You can bike to Mentor-on-the-Lake Beach park to enjoy a picnic and bike lazily around town. Or bike to Headlands Beach State Park, enjoy the beach, then bike home. Lake Metroparks and many yummy restaurants are within a short walking/driving distance. We've done a lot to bring nature to the backyard. I especially love the river of rocks and the large deck: perfect for family get togethers.

This rental is located in a quiet suburb in north Mentor. Is located near Lake Erie, The Mentor Lagoons, Mentor Marina, and Veterans Park. The Mentor Lagoons, Mentor Marina and Veterans Park are within a 1/2 mile walking distance and both have walking and hiking trails.

There is much to experience in Mentor. During our summer months (June-August) there are many outdoor water sports to enjoy at Lake Erie, as well as hiking and biking opportunities on the Lake Metroparks trails. You can also enjoy spending time at the pool June-August. Mentor has 3 city pools to choose from: summer passes can be bought or you can pay-as-you-go.

A fun adventure any time of the year is a trip to a winery. There are many wineries within a 20-40 minute drive where you can enjoy live music, dance, food, and of course wine. My favorite is the Grand River Cellars in Madison. Geneava-on-the-Lake is a quaint little town to visit for the day (25-30 minute drive east) and is abundant with wineries.

Mentor is one of the best places in the world to experience bird-watching. The Mentor Lagoons, less than 1/2 mile away, is ranked one of the best places in the world to bird watch.

Throughout the winter months (November-March) Lake Metroparks offers snow-skiing, cross-country skiing, winter hiking, sledding and tobogganing. There are many skiing opportunities 17-30 miles away: local favorites are Alpine Valley and Boston Mills/Brandywine.

Mentor has many festivals throughout the year, as well as many opportunities for family-friendly events at the Metroparks. These include, snowman building competitions and sledding adventures throughout the winter months (November-March); fall corn harvests, pumpkin rolls, clam bakes and haunted hay rides throughout the fall months (September-October); bug adventures, nature hikes, swimming and boating classes, and free concerts in the Mentor Civic Center park throughout the spring and summer months (April-August). I always keep an eye on the local City of Mentor webpage and Lake Metroparks webpage for up-coming events.

Mentor has a lot of good restaurants. Local favorites include Mama Robertos, T.J.'s on the Avenue, Yours Truly, Scooters Dawg House (open March-September), Noosa Bistro, China Buffet, Aladdin's Eatery, FroYo Twist, Malley's, Cruisin 50's Diner. P.F. Changs and Cheesecake Factory are also favorites: they are in Beachwood (25 minute drive south inside Beachwood Plaza).

There are plenty of golf courses and places to horseback. As you can see there is plenty to do and see for any and everyone!

Places to see and experience anytime of the year include:

- The Holden Arboretum (20 minute drive southeast)

- Lost Nation Sport Complex (10 minute drive west)

- Mentor Civic Arena in-door ice skating (2 minute drive south)

- Lake Metroparks

- Massages at Ladies and Gentleman Salon offers different massages packages (6 minute drive southeast)

- Great Lakes Mall (10 minute drive southwest)

- Painesville Antique Co-Op (20 minute drive east)

- Cleveland Botanical Gardens (25-30 minute drive west)

- Cleveland Science Center (25-30 minute drive west)

- Rock n Roll Hall of Fame (25 minute drive west)

- Golfdealz.net (in Kirtland, 20 minute drive southeast)

- Chips Clubhouse (in Chardon, 20 minute drive southeast)

Comfortable and Nature-Friendly

The owners are always accommodating. We have stayed here several times. The house is big and roomy. Having two bathrooms was a plus. There are many things to do in the area. We enjoy taking walks at Headland's Beach and we found that Scooter's Dawg House has the best ice cream. The home is always extremely clean and it's well maintained. My husband enjoys watching sports on the big TV. I love shopping at the nearby Antique Co-Op. You would never sleep like you do here in a hotel. The street is quiet and so are the neighbors. You are close to fast food or sit down restaurants. We brought corn-hole and enjoyed playing in the front yard. We always look forward to our next visit.

Clean and quiet retreat

My husband and I stayed two nights and it was very cozy and quiet. It's the perfect get away for just two, or for a whole family. Lots of near by stores for your convenience; including grocery, drug stores, and plenty of restaurants! The back yard was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the cool night air. We especially enjoyed cooking dinner in the spacious kitchen and playing pool! Pool table was a huge plus. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the opportunity to meet the nice owners of this home. We look forward to returning in the summer when we can enjoy the nearby Headland Beach and hiking trails.

Clean, Comfortable, and Quiet

This was a nice place for our family to stay for the weekend while we visited the sites in nearby historic Kirtland. Everything was clean, and the carpet looked new. The owners were easy to work with, even when our check-in time changed. The kitchen was well-stocked enough that we were able to prepare meals there. We had use of the double garage, which was helpful. We would stay there again if we were in the area!
