A beautiful, relaxing, well situated home in a family centered area. The porch is an oasis of relaxation. The rockers are perfect for sitting out of the sun to read, if you can take your eyes off the awesome view.
This cottage, as it is referred to, is well maintained and loved. The pictures shown let you know it is not small, as the word cottage sometimes suggests. The family photos and memorabilia make you feel very much at home.We love the water views from almost every room and the cupboard filled with games for all ages. Our kids love the extra bedrooms on the 3rd floor. They call it their "fort". The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glasses and anything we needed. Even pots large enough to cook lobsters in! The kids enjoy fishing off the rocks by the beach and shell collecting. If you are up early enough, you may see the daily beach cleaning truck that keeps the rocks and/or seaweed out of the way of sunbathers.
Nearby are a children's museum, Essex Steam Train, "Nature's Art" learning center, Outlet shopping centers (3), USS Nautilus, US Coast Guard Academy, Connecticut College, Mitchell College and UCONN Avery Point campus. Also Mohegan Sun and Foxwood's Casinos with their considerable restaurant and entertainment venues.
There are also facinating used book stores in Niantic. "The Book Barn" is worth a half day trip on it's own. Don't miss it!
I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway, that is close to all the entertainment you could ask for.
The only thing we found difficult.....was leaving.
