My favorite thing to do is watch the sunrise, and moon rise, from a rocker on the porch.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1908

This house has been in my family for three generations and I look forward to passing it along to my own children someday. In the meantime, we'd like you to make your own memories here at my family's cottage.

Lovely sunsets and sunrises - if you're an early bird - walking distance to town - ice cream, movie theater, etc and a half block to the beach and the snack bar. And we're on a regular route for the ice cream truck. what's not to love!

2014 Coast Guard Graduation

  • 5 of 5
We rented the Fairmont for our family (10 people) for our daughters graduation. The view was fantastic and most of our time was spent enjoying it! Rustic yes, but a perfect New England Beach House. We enjoyed our stay and would return and recommend it for 2015 graduation week. 15 min drive to the Academy and 12 min drive to the popular Hawks Nest beach. Cant beat the price compared to other locations!

Great for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5
We rented this property for our 1st family vacation in 15 years, with ages ranging from 6 months to 59 years. We spent many hours on the porch and the location directly across from the beach was wonderful. Our kids loved the bath house. The home has plenty of room and was well stocked with linens, dishes, pots and pans, and even beach chairs. The kitchen table was large enough for all of us to have dinner and play games.
Niantic is a friendly little community with close access to a variety of activities. Our little ones were in awe of the ride on the Essex Steam Train. The Book Barn is a must, as is a trip to Block Island!!
We can't wait to go back!!

The view is AWESOME!!!!!

Love the view. Little eating place with good food a short walk. The house had everything we had. The deck is to die for. Coffee in the morning, watching the ocean. Great location to many CT locations.

Coast Guard Academy Graduation

  • 4 of 5
Loved our stay at the "Fairmont!" We were in town for our son's graduation from the Coast Guard Academy and this location fit the bill. It was less then 20 mins to the academy. The porch was fantastic with great views of the sound, we also enjoyed relaxing on the beach. The house is as advertised, a little rustic, but it has all the needed amenities. The shower in the boat house was great place for the boys to get ready. Betty was easy to work with, I would stay there again.

Nice stay during the springtime

  • 5 of 5
We had a great weekend at the cottage and were able to go to the nearby Essex Steam Train museum for one of their Thomas the Tank Engine events. The backyard patio was still being completed, so we didn't get to do much more out there other than take a look around and wish we had something like it at home!

On Sunday morning we took part in a 5k benefiting the local park & rec department. A good time was had by all!

... with a full water view wraparound porch

  • 5 of 5
A beautiful, relaxing, well situated home in a family centered area. The porch is an oasis of relaxation. The rockers are perfect for sitting out of the sun to read, if you can take your eyes off the awesome view.
This cottage, as it is referred to, is well maintained and loved. The pictures shown let you know it is not small, as the word cottage sometimes suggests. The family photos and memorabilia make you feel very much at home.We love the water views from almost every room and the cupboard filled with games for all ages. Our kids love the extra bedrooms on the 3rd floor. They call it their "fort". The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glasses and anything we needed. Even pots large enough to cook lobsters in! The kids enjoy fishing off the rocks by the beach and shell collecting. If you are up early enough, you may see the daily beach cleaning truck that keeps the rocks and/or seaweed out of the way of sunbathers.
Nearby are a children's museum, Essex Steam Train, "Nature's Art" learning center, Outlet shopping centers (3), USS Nautilus, US Coast Guard Academy, Connecticut College, Mitchell College and UCONN Avery Point campus. Also Mohegan Sun and Foxwood's Casinos with their considerable restaurant and entertainment venues.

There are also facinating used book stores in Niantic. "The Book Barn" is worth a half day trip on it's own. Don't miss it!

I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway, that is close to all the entertainment you could ask for.

The only thing we found difficult.....was leaving.
