Woodstock is a beautifully preserved traditional New England village with year round outdoor activities on offer. From the end of the Village Green, it's a short walk uphill to the house set on 7 1/2 acres. Renovated inside and out in 2009, the house is perfect for gatherings with a chef's kitchen (including handmade dining table with seating for 10), and a generous comfortable sitting room with wood burning fireplace. French doors open to a slate terrace offering spectacular sunset views. Wood floors throughout, and rooms filled with natural light.

Upstairs, large master bedroom with queen-sized farmhouse bed, 3-sided exposures, and en-suite bathroom with shower and marble top double sinks. Two further bedrooms; one with double bed and single trundle (en-suite bathroom), and one large kids' bunk room with 3 double beds.

Relax at the house in a lovely setting with all the creature comforts, by the pool or the fireplace, or venture out to hike Mount Tom,

swim in the local Ottaquechee river and dare to jump from the rope swing, explore Billings Farm, the many antique shops or ski Suicide Six and Killington and then try out Okemo or Pico.

For a little luxury book in at the Woodstock Inn Spa or do a yoga class at the Woodstock Recreation Center. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and The Farmer's Market shop provides great fresh meat and produce to prepare meals at home in the newly renovated, well stocked kitchen.

Lovely Home at the Top of the Hill

This is a fabulous house. We’ve stayed here several times; with family, and with two other couples as an adult getaway. It is a perfect place for both kinds of vacation.

The house sits at the top of the hill with great views from the back terrace. Even though it’s just a short walk into town down the long wooded driveway, it feels like a private estate. The décor is calm and contemplative. Even with three couples there’s plenty of space for being alone and also lovely common rooms like the large living room and kitchen/dining area. We especially like the downstairs guest suite at the end of the hall with its own bathroom and comfy queen-sized bed.

It was warm enough to use the pool last summer, and we took an afternoon dip each day with drinks and snacks poolside on the flagstone.

There are good restaurants in Woodstock, but the kitchen here is so nice that we usually stop at the Woodstock Farmers’ Market grocery store to pick up a few things and then cook ourselves. There is a huge island with lots of prep space and a gourmet stove and refrigerator. Just off the kitchen is a small porch with a good sized gas grill.

There is plenty to do in Woodstock. The town is quite pretty for strolling and shopping. There is hiking nearby. We like the trail up Mt. Peg, and the Mt. Tom trails in the Marsh– Billings–Rockefeller National Historic Park.

The house is also a fantastic place to stay for a ski vacation if you want to cover the major slopes nearby, including Stowe, Killington, Pico, and a dozen others.

We strongly recommend this house. The owner is pleasant and very responsive and the property is at once simple and luxurious.

Perfect vacation. I never want to leave!

I have stayed here twice and both trips were amazing! The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The property is clean and well-maintained with nice amenities. There is enough space to quietly relax and enjoy the views, but also some spacious common areas like the gourmet kitchen and the pool. The owners have great taste and have furnished the home in a simple but classy style. Woodstock has high-end shops and restaurants and there are fantastic hiking destinations within a short distance of the house. The only downside is that the vacation ends and I have to go home!
