Camp Windrush is a private family compound that we have owned since 1996. The original camp was built in 1909 and was basically in original condition when we purchased it. We immediatly started a total restoration that included re-building all remaining original buildings and adding all new amenities. The camp is now totally upgraded and restored but retains the feel of the original 1909 buildings. Windrush is a true Adirondack Great Camp, rustic but elegant, that cannot be replicated today.

Charles and Janet Irving purchased this estate in 1996

Unquestionably the best property available for weekly rental in the Adirondack Mountains.

GREAT JULY 4TH AT WINDRUSH

  • 4 of 5
14 family members from all over the east coast decended on Camp WIndrush on Sat 6/29. As soon as we arrived, we could tell it was a very special place. The main cabin, the dining cabin, the boathouse and rec room - ALL of the quarters were old-world, Adirondack charm. Although the weather could have been more cooperative, (rained every day for a few hours) the location to the Upper & Lower St Regis via Spitfire Lake was perfect. Loons at night. Bald Eagles during the day. Small mouth bass in the lake. Lake Placid just a short drive away..... its an absolute gem of a location. If you have a large family and looking for a location to make some serious family memories - look no further!

AN IDEAL VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
Echoing previous reviews, Camp Windrush provides a perfect combination of a rustic feel and modern convenience. Our extended family, of all ages, enjoyed every minute of our stay. Individual cabins and the peaceful, secluded location offer privacy, while the large game room, the well-appointed kitchen, and spacious deck and dock areas offer gathering places for the whole family. Honestly, the pictures, while beautiful, do not do the place justice--it was even better than we expected! The owner, who was most accommodating, has maintained and updated Windrush for comfort, convenience and relaxation. We definitely would return and would recommend the property to anyone.

WINDRUSH IS A RELAXING RETREAT AMONG THE PINES.

  • 5 of 5
The first thing that hits you when you walk into camp Windrush is the amazing kitchen. You think this is heaven and things couldn't get better. As you walk from the kitchen to the great room you know things are. It's old time charm mixed with all the comforts of home make it a wonderful place to wind down and relax after a great day on the lake. From there you walk out to the back porch with it's benches along the railings and feel as though you are living in the trees. The view of and walk to the lake are both wonderful. If are looking for a place to relax on the dock with family and friends or play and boat in the lake with your children and/or grandchildren I can't think of a better place. You'll love Windrush as much as my family did.

SUMMER 2011

  • 5 of 5
Our family had the great pleasure of staying at Camp Windrush this past summer. We could not have been more pleased with our experience. Everything you need is included, especially incredible lake views, relaxing evenings on the porch and beautiful sunsets. The kitchens are big enough to easily prepare food for an army with plenty of fridge space to store it. There are two sets of washers and dryers that make life very easy. Windrush is very large, with plenty of room to spread out and have quiet time away from the rest of your extended family. There is space for every age group, from toddlers, teens and college students to older parents. We had a wonderful vacation.

DREAMY VACATION SPOT

Camp Windrish is an amazing estate that you only happen upon on very rare occasions. It is spacious, and manages to be both luxurious and comfortable at the same time. I would recommend anyone to stay at this secluded, well-kept perfect Adirondack getaway.

Located directly on Spitfire Lake, the beautiful and pristine middle lake of the interconnected three lake St. Regis chain of lakes, consisting of Upper St. Regis Lake, Spitfire Lake and Lower St. Regis Lake. Known as 'The Newport of the Adirondacks' for its numerous Adirondack Great Camps built during the Gilded Age by many of the captains of industry and wealth, many of which remain in the original families.

Great Camp Windrush is located at the extreme northern end of the lake on a private bay, virtually ensuring peacefulness and quiet. Hours may literally pass with no sound other than that of loons calling across the water or the occasional passing of a canoe or Adirondack Guideboat.

There is no commercial development on any of the three lakes and jet skis and other personal watercraft are prohibited by local ordinance. Wilderness canoe/kayaking is available directly north of the property in a vast area that has not changed in thousands of years. Fishing is known to be outstanding, either from the docks on the property of from any of the several boats that are included. Easy access to the protected St. Regis Canoe Area with thousands of acres of lakes and streams, accessible only by human powered watercraft is a short paddle across the lakes.

Great Camp Windrush is truly an opportunity to experience the Adirondack Mountains in rustic elegance as it was enjoyed over 100 years ago.
