My husband and I had a wonderful week at this little cabin to take in the Fall colors. The cabin itself, whilst not the Hilton, was everything we wanted. It was clean, safe and cosy and had a well stock kitchen (including lovely wine glasses - a must for me). We had some issues with the wifi, however the owners, were more than helpful in getting it up and going and very accommodating in every aspect. The town of Wilmington is absolutely charming and the surrounding areas lovely. We enjoyed walking down to the lake to take in the colors. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property.
My girlfriend and I stayed here the first weekend in August. It was quiet and cozy and just what we needed. The owners were super-friendly and very easy to work with. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well.
The cabin is tiny, built more vertically than horizontally. If you are very tall, you should be mindful; I'm 6' 7" tall and I was banging my head on doorways and lighting fixtures. Still, the place is very warm, simple and inviting. Loved the hot tub; it's worth the extra money. Having a washer-dryer on site was a real treat and made our stay much more comfortable. Unfortunately, we never used the two-person kayak. There's a short path down to the boat launch area and it would have been very easy to do, but we were out exploring Wilmington and Bennington.
For high quality pizza, be sure to check out Pizzapalooza, the first restaurants you'll encounter as you head down from the cabin into Wilmington. Yummy pies and live music in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. There are a couple other pizza places in town, but they are more standard fare (not bad, though); Pizzapalooza has a great selection of crusts, sauces and toppings and they know what they're doing.
I think this is a great cabin for two people. You could have four people here, but you should all be very good friends.
If you're a ham radio operator, the owners are antenna friendly! I was able to put up a long wire antenna in one of the tall trees on the property and had a lot of success talking to stations over the North Pole into Siberia and Asia.
A very nice place to stay. Thanks for a relaxing time.
This was an amazing property to stay at! It was a 2 second walk down to the lake, a short drive to downtown Wilmington, and very close to Mount Snow, hiking trails, and amazing bike rides. The owners were wonderful to work with and made the whole process easy. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves the outdoors - it was great!
I knew we would love the cabin just speaking with the owners. They are really warm, kind people who made us feel at home the moment we walked in the door. The house was meticulously clean. All the essentials were provided (e.g. sheets/towels/etc.) as well as some non-essentials (e.g. a bottle of wine welcoming us after a long work day and 4 hour drive!). The hot tub is fabulous and well worth the added expense. Downtown Wilmington is quiant and away from the Mt. Snow madness. You must try the Roadhouse Restaurant! We enjoyed an afternoon walking on a frozen Harriman Reservoir and met some local ice fisherman. All in all, a very relaxing, cozy, New England visit. We would love to check it out in the Spring!
Went here as sort of a couples new years get away, and had a great time. The cabin isnt anything extravagant but its cozy and has functioning utilities. Close to the mountain yet still remote and quiet which was nice. The owners were very accommodating and there was a minor problem with the hot tub which they fixxed immediately. Overall we had a lot of fun, I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for an affordable fun getwaway.
