Immaculate, newly remodeled just in time for SXSW! Close to Downtown, the real South Congress (SoCo) area only 2.5 blocks to the heart of South Congress and 2.5 blocks to the burgeoning tourist promenade of historical South First (SoFi). Perfect festival home base!
This home is perfectly located to access everything that cool, hip and funky about Austin.
The house sleeps up to seven, with 3 bedrooms and two full baths, plus two living areas. High-thread count sheets, down pillows and comforters (non-down available, too), supple leather furniture, and fluffy towels add to your and your guests' comfort.
Spacious for entertaining, with a generous kitchen, the house has a large back deck and a good sized, private back yard, rare in this area. Large, newly remodeled Living room for great flow.
Off-street parking is available for 3 vehicles, but you really don't need a car: you are in walking distance, a bike ride or a cheap cab ride to everything that makes Austin what it is! Bike rental stand is only a couple of blocks away.
Paula & Preston: Avid travelers ourselves, we enjoy sharing the best of Austin with great people from around the country and the world. We're proud of our city, and we're glad to impart what makes our town one of the best places to visit and live. We travel frequently to Central America and Europe and appreciate staying in private homes when we travel, so we're excited to share our home with you. We speak German and Spanish. Newlyweds, we're using the proceeds of our rentals towards our wedding bash and future travels--to HomeAway accommodations, of course!.
Preston & Paula purchased this bungalow in 2012
Walk to any type of attraction, from fine dining to funky food trailers, great music, spring-fed pools, hiking trails around the lake, and downtown. Easy walking or bus access to downtown. Park your own car in the covered carport and avoid searching for a parking spot. Enjoy the tourist-friendly South Congress walking strip with its eclectic shops, art galleries, eateries, and music then stumble a few short blocks to relax in our peaceful home on a remarkably quiet street despite its central location. Enjoy the open space with friends and family preparing delicious meals to share in the vaulted, light-filled dining room or spacious deck.
Privacy: The home has two wings each with its own bathroom and access to outdoors for optimal privacy.
Neighborhood: The home sits in a historic neighborhood with friendly neighbors.
Nearby Attractions: Just north, along downtown, is Austin's famous Lady Bird Lake running trail. And the spring-fed Barton Springs Pool is must visit, located across from Zilker Park, the annual venue for the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
The master bedroom is in a separate wing from the other bedrooms for optimal privacy. It has French doors walking out to an attractive yard. The master bath has a walk-in shower with spa shower heads. The saltillo tiles are cool and inviting. The kitchen opens to the deck and entertaining space. Newly remodeled just in the nick of time with vaulted ceilings, large living room, and lots of natural light.
This South Congress House was the perfect place for our summer vacation (six adults). Master bedroom has a nice adjoining bathroom with a spacious shower, and both guest bedrooms sat nicely between a shared bathroom. The home had two open living spaces with a large kitchen and dining room. Oh, and I almost forgot, there's a relaxing outdoor patio with a table and chairs.
As for the location, it's situated in a nice, cozy neighborhood that's quiet and safe. It's just a couple of blocks from both South Congress Ave (a block away from the start of the So Co area at the top of the hill) and two blocks from First St (in the opposite direction) where there are some great cafes and food trucks.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would visit again if we found ourselves in Austin, TX.
The title says it all. The house is modern and comfortable, in a quiet residential neighborhood from which you can literally walk to the main part of South Congress and South First in less than five minutes.
I had a great winter vacation here, where I could easily go out and have fun, but then retreat back to a cozy home rather than a sterile hotel room. I recommend it highly!
Peaceful setting, nicely appointed, close to great restaurants and interesting things to see walking the neighborhood.
Beautiful quiet private yard. I was amazed at how quiet the home was and still within walking to everything downtown Austin and South Congress has to offer.
I would happily recommend this property to anyone.
This wonderful spot is just as described! Perfectly nestled in a great old neighborhood, large trees, great yard...and as promised fresh tomatoes, berries, lettuce, and more right out the back door and off the deck. No need for a car as everything you need is within walking distance. Numerous hot spot restaurants, old favorites and shopping. Very Clean homey inviting. Definitely recommending this one.
Comfortable, light-filled home walking distance to Downtown, South Congress Avenue, South First St, and South Lamar. Situated in the heart of Austin, featuring many live music/festival venues, numerous outstanding restaurants, city parks and swimming holes - all nestled in the historic south Austin, Bouldin Creek neighborhood in the popular 78704 zip code.
