About Paula Szypko

We bought this house last year and have spent the last 10 months completely refurbishing the home. In a few years, this will be our winter home, so please share with us and take advantage while you can!

Paula Szypko purchased this house in 2011

Why Paula Szypko chose Dunedin

.When we decided to buy in Dunedin, we wanted a property that was close to downtown, close to shopping and in a quiet area away from Main Street. This house has it all and more!

What makes this house unique

We've visited the Clearwater area for years. Recently, a friend moved to Palm Harbor. While on our way to visit, we drove through Dunedin and were smitten! The quaint downtown, the scenic marina and the proximity to Honeymoon Island make Dunedin truly unique in central Florida

I felt like I was "Home"

  • 5 of 5

I found myself in between homes and needed a place to stay for about a month. Found this on Home Away and chose it because of the GREAT reviews and easy access to my new home while work was being done.

The listing was spot on and the owners are WONDERFUL! I was close to everything from shopping to the beach to the mall. And the house has all you need to feel like you're home. Clean, well maintained and comforts of home abound.

Paula and Phil were very accommodating and this place truly felt like "Home" from the moment I entered. If you are looking for a great place to stay in the Clearwater FL area .... this IS IT!!!

I will be using this rental place again when my family comes to visit.

Thank you Paula and Phil and I'll see you again soon! :-)

Would not stay anywhere else but here!

  • 5 of 5

This was our fourth stay in this Dunedin rental home. We now look forward to staying at this home whenever we are in the area and truly consider it our home away from home. My husband and I were visiting his ill father and Phil and Paula could not be more accomodating. Located in the most convenient of locations to travel to Clearwater, Tampa, Beaches and Restaurants, this house meets any and all needs that we require while traveling.

Paula and Phil are perfect hosts and very friendly and welcoming. Any little need they are more than willing to help with. Phil was even nice enough to pick my husband up at the airport which was a late flight!

The property is immaculately clean. They are always updating in between bookings and there are never any maintenance issues. The furnishings are very homey feeling and the beds are very comfortable. The washer and dryer are a big bonus so we don't have to go to any laundromats. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and the neighbors are friendly with a welcoming wave when they see us.

A phone call is ALWAYS answered and Paula is particularly good at making us laugh. Although our visits as of late have been for other than enjoyment, this house makes up for the lack of fun. Coming home to a nice clean place after dealing with doctors and nurses is truly a blessing each day. There is a large flat screen TV with lots of cable channels and also a Playstation game system along with tons of DVD's and PS Games.

My husband and I did manage to get to Honeymoon Island beach on this stay and also enjoyed KallyK's, PF Chang's, Cody's Steakhouse & Dennys which are all in close proximity of this home. There are many more restaurants in the area and lots of menus in the home to help you choose where to eat.

I HIGHLY recommend this house to anyone visiting Dunedin or Clearwater. You won't be disappointed I promise!

Thank you as always Paula and Phil, we look forward to staying here again, soon!

A wonderful stay in Dunedin, Florida!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at "our" home in Dunedin, Florida! We were there for the entire month of March, 2014. Our main purpose in renting the home was to attend a number of Blue Jays Spring Training games and the location of the property was perfect for that! We could easily walk or bike the 2 miles to the ball park. We also attended NHL games in Tampa, only a 45-minute drive away. But there is a lot more to do in Dunedin than sports! We particularly loved the downtown market which ran every Friday and Saturday from 9-2. We bought most of our fresh fruit and vegetables there, as well as a number of other homemade articles and food. And the Pinellas Trail is wonderful for walking and biking. Our dog loved the great dog parks in the area too! The description of the property was certainly accurate; in fact I think it was even better than we expected. It was very clean and the hosts, Paula and Phil, were SO agreeable and helpful, and returned our calls or texts immediately, if we had any questions. They even let us stay an extra night! The house is well laid out for company as 2 bedrooms are at one end of the house and the master bedroom is at the other end with the living area/kitchen in between. One initially awkward thing about the house is that the screened in porch is off the master bedroom, as is the door to the garage, where the large, modern laundry facilities are located. There is a pocket door to the kitchen and another one to the living area from the bedroom. So guests had to go through our bedroom to get to the porch or the garage. However, we quickly got used to this and it became a non-issue. We appreciated having 2 televisions, one in the living room and one in the master bedroom. It was also great having 2 bathrooms, including the master ensuite. Part of the large yard is fenced in for dogs, which is very convenient. The suburban neighbourhood is quiet and nice to walk in, day or night. We enjoyed a number of restaurants, cafes and pubs, including the bagel place on the corner just as you go downtown and Eddie's Pub after games. We would DEFINITELY recommend this property to friends and relatives and in fact hope to go back there ourselves either next year or the year after, maybe for 2 months next time if it is available! Thank you again Paula and Phil!

Very comfortable home. Our home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

This is a great home for a getaway that can be as relaxing or as adventuresome as you want! The home is definitely as-advertised; well-furnished & comfortable.

The beds were comfortable- we all slept VERY well. Their house is situated in a very quiet neighborhood. We would love to stay here again someday.

We started our mornings on the screen back porch with coffee and ended most days in the same spot.

The owner's are extremely accommodating and helpful - available to answer every question you may have before you get to the home and after you arrive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Attractions were fairly close, and supermarkets and eateries were very close by. Some of the restaurants we enjoyed were: Kally-K's on Main Street (wonderful salad bar), China Star on Patricia Street (2 blocks from the home) & LosAmigos on Patricia. Best bar "Eddie,s" they have $5 dollar lunch menu weekdays, plus you can bring your dog.

Thanks so much Paula & Phil.

Truly a home away from home

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this home in early October with my husband and two teenage (aged 17) boys. The house is immaculately clean and any little whim is already provided for inside. The owners are readily available to answer any questions and are friendly and welcoming. The home had no maintenance issues. The beds were comfortable and nicely made up, the decorations were "homey" and all linens were crisp and fresh. The back porch is screened in and allows for enjoyable morning or evening relaxation. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient to the entire Dunedin/Clearwater area. Main Street has plenty of good eating spots (Kallie K's, Countryboy, Monte Cristo Restaurant) and there were plenty of suggestions and coupons available inside the home to help with menu options. Two bikes that were provided allowed my sons the freedom of wheels to travel the bike trail and also visit the Dunedin Marina which is very close by and has a fishing pier. Cable TV had many viewing options and a large LED TV provided beautiful reception. We came to Dunedin to visit family and friends and the home provided a nice comfortable place to entertain them. We took a fishing boat out of Clearwater beach, took a ride up to Homossassa Springs Wildlife Park (75 miles North) and visited Busch Gardens amusement park during our stay. We also visited Anderson Park on US 19 in Tarpon Springs to see the many alligators that make Lake Tarpon their home. This was one of the best visits to the area that we have enjoyed and we have been traveling to and from Florida for the past 26 years. I would credit this home as being the main reason our stay was so pleasant. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone interested in staying in the area. The price is affordable and well worth the money. You will not be disappointed I am sure. Thank you Paula and Phil for being so wonderful. We look forward to another visit in the near future.

Owner's Response: Very glad you were able to enjoy the two bikes and see the beautiful Dunedin Marina. Also great fishing along the Dunedin Causeway heading to Honeymoon Island and I actually saw a dolphin the last time I was there ! So happy to check in on you now that we have relocated to the area. ...

Wonderful home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 6-day stay at this property in Dunedin in May 2013! It had all the comforts and amenities of home, and was extremely clean and well-maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning cups of coffee in the screened-in porch and new patio set, as well as dinners that we were able to cook out on the gas grill. This home is conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Dunedin, where there are numerous delicious restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment. One of the highlights of our trip was the 2 1/2 hour dolphin cruise out of the Dunedin marina, which was very reasonably priced and included beer, wine, rum punch, sangria and dozens of jumping dolphins in the Gulf! The sunsets were breathtaking, and Clearwater beach was an easy 15 minute scenic drive down the coast. I would highly recommend this home to friends and family looking for a stress-free, relaxing vacation getaway! Thank you Paula & Phil for everything, you guys are wonderful!!!
