Experience the extraordinary beauty of a tropical rain forest, as you relax on the patio or terrace of Villa Titi.
Villa Titi is a quiet, private home on the grounds of the Hotel Eclipse. This distinctive Mediterranean style villa, located above Manuel Antonio beach, takes advantage of the prevailing ocean breeze and offers all the comforts of home. The deluxe lower suite can comfortably accommodate three with a queen size bed, plus a single bed. This suite has an open spacious floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom, large private bath and living room that opens to a covered patio. The comfortable second floor bedroom with a queen size bed as well, also has a private bath and covered terrace for relaxation as you take in the surrounding beauty. Separate entries on both levels provide optimum privacy. Villa Titi is equipped with both ceiling fans and air conditioning.
Villa Titi also has satellite television in both bedrooms and was recently updated with large flat screen TVs. It also has Wi-Fi throughout the house, and separate telephones on each level of the home.
“Titi” is the Costa Rican name for the endangered Central American squirrel monkey or Mono Titi. Often times you will be greeted in the morning by the sights and sounds of the “Titis” as they pass overhead, foraging for mangoes next to our house, on their daily rounds. We also have the white face or Mono Blanco monkeys around the house each day as well! In the distance you will hear the howler monkeys and the squawk of the green parrots as they fly overhead. Observe some of the most rare and exotic animal life on earth. Costa Rica is home to more than 9,000 species of birds and animals, as bird watcher’s paradise! Or, just sit under a palm tree with a good book and enjoy the warm ocean breeze.
A short distance away is the Manuel Antonio National Park entrance, where the tropical rain forest meets dazzling white sand beaches. Enjoy a relaxing day with friends at the beach, taking in the sun and surf. Or, simply enjoy a dip in our refreshing pool.
The pool at the Hotel Eclipse is a short walk from your door (approx. 50 meters). After a dip in our pool comes the hard part – selecting one of the many excellent nearby restaurants for dinner! Choose from French, Italian, German, Asian or “Tico” style restaurants. We highly recommend the “catch of the day” such as Mahi Mahi, Yellow fin Tuna, or Snapper. Other varieties are also seasonally available.

My partner Steve and I have been traveling to Costa Rica since 1988! It is a fantastic country; the people are wonderful; the food is fabulous; and the beaches are incredible. There is an amazing variety of wildlife, with warm temperatures year around. The average high temperature during high season from late December to April is about 88 degrees F (31degrees C), and the average low temperature is 75 degrees F (24 degrees C).
The Owner purchased this house in 1993
The Manuel Antonio area is one of the most popular resort areas in Costa Rica and is easily accessible by car, bus or air. The new highway from San Jose makes the 150km trip about a 2 hour drive. There is also frequent bus service and almost hourly air service!
This area is quite different from the northwest part of the country in that the climate is very tropical with very lush vegetation and wild life. The Manuel Antonio beach is almost 2 km long and is also one of the best in all of Central America! The water is warm year around and there is fairly good surfing at the north end of the beach.
Our house is on the grounds of the Hotel Eclipse property but we choose to operate it apart from the hotel. We are part of an association that still allows us access to the pool and off street parking. Security is provided by the hotel's security staff. They not only guard the house but the off street parking lot as well.
Since we are near the equator, the sun rises before 6am almost every day of the year, and it sets around 6pm as well. Our favorite thing is to rise early, make a pot of fabulous Costa Rican coffee, with a breakfast of just picked fresh fruit and listen to the jungle awaken! It is very easy to spend a couple of hours doing this. Then, it's off to the beach or a walk through the National Park. The trees and vegetation grow right down to the sand on the beach, so it is easy to spread your towel under a group of palm trees or the native "allmendro" or almond trees that lean out over the white sand.
Lunch is a filet of mahi mahi, tuna or a hamburger and fries. The beer is the best, with most of the Costa Rican breweries originating in Germany over 100 years ago!
A nap or late afternoon swim at the pool is a nice way to finish the day, before the tough decision of deciding where to eat dinner.
After dinner, it's a little reading or watching television, before turning out the lights at 10pm.
Get a good nights sleep, because the jungle will wake you before 6am the next day!
Just finished up a month at Villa Titi where we rented both floors. From beginning to end it was the perfect trip. John was very easy to deal with and answered all inquiries promptly. When we arrived the check-in went smoothly and the place was even nicer than we expected. It's extremely clean and very well maintained which is quite the challenge in the tropics. The cleaning lady came every other day which was another great perk. If you rent both floors it's ideal for two couples that want to holiday together yet still have privacy with their own bedroom, bathroom and terrace. From the terrace, we saw three types of monkeys, iguanas, morpho butterflies, agoutis and a variety of interesting birds. The units are very well laid out and each comes with a TV. The Wi-Fi worked reliably and we used it for internet phone calls. Although each floor has its own air conditioner, we opted to open the windows and enjoy the breezes. If we wanted cold we could have stayed in Canada!! Rosa is the manager of the unit and was a delight in every way. If you need anything from side trips, restaurant recommendations or transportation to the airport she'll arrange things and you'll not have to worry. The location of the villa is perfect for getting to the beach, restaurants, ATMs and mini-supermarket. The beach is spectacular and you have the option of renting chairs or walking down the beach to find your own piece of paradise in the sun or shade. It's worth taking a day and going to the Manual Antonio National Park. If you like a quieter beach with very small waves I would recommend Biesanz beach. The grounds of the property are beautiful and include three pools. If you're looking for local grocery stores and restaurants head to Quepos. The bus stop is right in front of the complex and costs about sixty cents for a one-way trip. The typical dinner of Costa Ricans is the "casado", which contains either fish, chicken or beef with rice, beans, vegetables and salad. At Soda Sanchez that will cost you about $5.00. For a real local experience, head to Club Banana where Friday night dinner and Karaoke with a bunch of locals is quite fun. Each unit has its own safe which was another plus. There is a new marina with a couple of restaurants which is worth a visit. Also, if you are around on Friday night or Saturday morning, head to the market on the waterfront in Quepos. You can buy lots of fresh produce, cheese and bakery items. The Mennonites make an amazin
We rented both levels of Villa Titi for 4 of us. Everything was clean and neat; outside eating areas perfect for breakfast, lunch or cocktails. Air conditioning helps when it's very hot and humid at night, but other nights we were able to leave the windows open and hear howler monkeys early morning. We saw iguanas and agoutis everyday, and a variety or snakes, frogs and birds. The last day we were there a group of Titi monkeys came through to entertain us! Pool is convenient and feels good after a day at the beach or hiking. Excellent restaurants withing walking distance, and bus is very easy to take to and from beach and park. Rosa was very helpful in scheduling activities for white water rafting, snorkeling and horseback riding. Wifi did not work all the time, but it wasn't a problem for us since everywhere around has wifi as well. Overall, Villa Titi was great and we would do it again!
Cosy house in a beautiful garden setting, across the street from "El Avion"-Bar. Has everything you need for a few nice days near Manuel Antonio Park.
I agree with all the wonderful reviews listed here! So I won't repeat them. But I want to add a note about the owner, John, who we booked directly with. John was efficient and answered every email very quickly. He helped with all our questions and even offered us to call him if we wanted to chat about Costa Rica. Seemed like such a friendly guy!
But here is what happened: A few days before arriving at Villa Titi I had an accident on a river rafting trip in another Costa rican town, that required surgery. So we had to quickly cancel several reservations and re-book our flights home. When I emailed John (from Manuel Antonio) about my accident he quickly emailed me back that he would refund our last night stay (a night we couldn't use because of our new flights home). I thought this offer was exceptional. I understand that he must have rules about refunds and usually you must cancel a few weeks ahead of time to get a refund, but John didn't seem to hesitate to help us out. Our budget is empty because of the hospital bills and having to buy new flights, so his offer was very much appreciated. If you rent at Villa Tito you are renting from someone who is honest, fair, and kind. Thank you John!!
This place wins in every category! We sat on the porch every morning, while sipping Costa Rican coffee and watching the monkeys play in the trees next to us. The grounds had playful iguanas in every direction. The location couldn't be better. The beach was a 10 minute walk and the bus stop was right out front! What a great place! Stay here and you will love absolutely love it!
I agree completely with the other reviews--the house is awesome. We appreciated the kitchen and liked being able to make cereal and toast rather than go out for every meal. A couple tips that would have helped me. If you search tripadvisor for reviews on Hotel Eclipse, and found the less than positive reviews, don't worry. The hotel, and grounds are great! We saw tucans, agouti (look like large guinea pigs), lizards and squirrel monkeys! The pool was private and perfect. I appreciated that many of the people staying at the hotel were from Costa Rica. Please note! the VRBO map is way off, and I think this has something to do with the lack of marked roads in CR. This place is truly in the bustling town of Manuel Antonio and it's location is perfect. We had a car and a GPS, which i was never sorry for, although the car insurance was $800 for the week! Anyway, our family of four loved this place--oh and you do have room service, which i was not expecting! Lastly, there is secured parking that put me at ease considering my concern for car damage. Enjoy!
