Great value for money!

The Remington is a wonderful alternative to staying in a hotel. The price is extremely reasonable compared to hotel rates in Washington DC, and when you come home after a long day of exploring, it is so nice to have this whole roomy apartment! VRBO photos are accurate. Comfy living room, a dining table (where my husband was able to set up for some computer work), and a full kitchen. A real coffeemaker! There is a washer and dryer for great convenience, altho we did not use it. The bedroom was spacious and included its own TV. The one negative was the hard and lumpy bed. I was told that had we mentioned it we might have had something done about it (not sure if that meant moving to a different unit or what).
The Foggy Bottom Metro station was very convenient. I would say that the walking distances in general are a little less convenient than stated - to get to Georgetown you have to walk through some bridge/overpass areas, or up 6 blocks to "M St." - very doable but further than we thought. (Find "Baked and Wired" a super coffee place, on Thomas Jefferson between 30th and 31st in Georgetown.) There ARE some cute places to eat within walking distance, as well as the Whole Foods Market, over one and up two streets. We also utilized some of the GW University eating choices, only a block away. There are some choices near the Kennedy Center as well, and walking down by the water was beautiful. Everyone says to go to a free performance at the Kennedy Ctr but we never made it. There is the Hall of States and Hall of Nations to visit there, and the grounds are pretty. Cup'a Cup'a is a little coffee place next to Ancora Restaurant down by the water, past the Watergate (where there is a CVS w/ a few groceries). Walked to the Lincoln Memorial via the Rock Creek Park trail - lovely morning walk - as well as down 23rd St to the Washington Meml area. All was green and in bloom, 1000's of tulips and daffodils. A visit to Dumbarton Oaks was new - fabulous grounds! We recommend the fascinating Newseum - also new to us - and the Natl Mus of the Amer Indian (don't miss their restaurant).
The office staff was very helpful and friendly (Dorothy and Rosemary?); Kenny advised us with our computing questions, as well as our ER needs! (My husband fell while jogging one morning.) The grounds and common areas were nicely kept. Overall, the Remington ranks highly with us - we would stay there again, and would recommend it to friends, (and already have!).

Great way to stay

My husband and I visited DC for the Cherry Blossoms and history of it all. The Remington was a great alternative to your usual hotel accomodations. We were within walking distance to so many great attractions and the Metro stop for those farther away. The condo was clean and neat with a bigger bathroom than we have at home. It was nice having a washer/dryer available to reduce what we needed to pack for our week long stay. The kitchen allowed us to prepare meals and eat as our dietary limitations require and we were blocks away from the local Whole Foods and CVS stores. The staff- Ken is an asset to the facility. He gave us all kinds of info on the neighborhood and was very helpful to us. The girls in the office were so nice....when our coffee pot acted up they gave us the office pot to use. I highly recommend THE REMINGTON to anyone who wants to visit DC.

Perfect D.C. Sanctuary

5 of 5
Submitted: July 29, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
This apartment was the absolutely perfect sanctuary during our family of four's stay in D.C. The location was perfect for us -- 3 blocks from the Metro station (which itself is a half block from a bustling Whole Foods) and a few short stops from everything we wanted to see. We came during a heat wave (more than the usual D.C. heat and humidity) so we are here to tell you that the air conditioning in the condo was excellent. With a decent sized bedroom, very functional kitchen, nice living area, and a walk-in closet you could sleep in (with washer/dryer), this was way, way better than any hotel for us for a more reasonable cost. Booking and check-in were easy, even though we arrived at 7:30 p.m. on a Saturday. People were ultra-helpful and let us stash our luggage on our final day so we could catch one last museum before heading out to the airport (the metro stop is on the right line for Reagan National Airport -- piece of cake!).

We did get the rollaway bed but it was not at all comfortable, so our youngest (10 yo) fashioned a bed out of couch cushions rather than share the pull-out couch with his sister, and he was perfectly comfortable.

If the weather permits, you can walk to the Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam and Korean War Memorials. I imagine you can walk to the new King Memorial, too, but we got too hot and tired to do so.

We appreciated all the thoughtful touches -- table set for two when we arrived, and there was even a single "serving" of laundry detergent.

Apparently you have access to GWU's fitness center but we didn't know about that until the final day. Honestly, though, we were so busy during the days we just wanted to crash in our extremely comfortable digs until we were ready to head out again. We would definitely recommend this to any of our friends!

Our family of 5 LOVED this unit!!! The staff were very helpful. they answered all our questions, addressed our concerns and were helpful with general DC questions. The unit was clean, comfortable and so relaxing. We don't fit into a traditional hotel room anymore, so we appreciated the larger unit with 2 beds plus a pull out couch. We appreciated being able to cook meals, do laundry and be in a neighborhood setting, especially by the university. We enjoyed being able to walk to so many of the DC sites, Metro and grocery stores. The parking space was very convenient. We loved having extra space and the whole experience of the Remington. Thank you for making our stay in DC more enjoyable, relaxing and affordable. I would highly recommend this site to others!!!

The Remington was a real find! This apartment building is in Georgetown's lovely Foggy Bottom historic district. It's a small building of 50 one-bedroom suites, about three-quarters of them rentals. It was perfect for our group of four and quieter than a hotel. You can request a roll-away bed in addition to the pull-out sofa. (I must say, though, that the sofa bed was pretty awful. We asked for several extra blankets to cushion the bars.) The kitchen is useful for breakfasts and simple meals and the apartment's bathroom is located in a shared space, rather than in the bedroom, which is always a plus when traveling with family. The location is great -- about 10 minutes walk to the Metro and many inexpensive take-out options are nearby, including a Dunkin Donuts and Pot Belly sandwich place. (You're mingling with students in the George Washington University neighborhood.) For groceries, there's a Whole Foods two blocks away. The price was definitely right -- both the per-night and parking charges were far less than comparable hotel rooms. The office staff is very pleasant -- thank you, Rosemary, Barbara and Ken!
