Villa Bougainvillea was built in 2006 on a hillside with incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean, the islands of St. Barrts, Anquilla, and Tintamare. Watch the yachts come in and out of Oyster Pond, enjoy the beauty of Dawn Beach with its lengthy white sand beach, and the activities of the new Westin Hotel, all right below our Villa with a short walk down the hill. Use the state-of the-art Fitness Room every morning and then swim some laps in the infinity edged pool. Our pool patio has extensive Tropitone furniture, a private BBQ patio with seating with both a built-in Jacuzzi gas grill, a charcoal grill and work counter/sink.. Each bedroom has a full bath, and the attached apartment has a king bed in a loft, full bath and a complete kitchenette. The separate fitness room has state-of-the-art exercise equipment, wall mirrors, air conditioning, built-in television and steam room/full bath. No luggage or groceries to carry with a 3-story elevator; and lots of backyard area.
Great for family or families, plenty of room for sleeping and gathering. Great indoor and outdoor spaces. Well appointed, well constructed house with all the amenities of home, and then some! Was great for our family with grown kids, considering a couples trip at a different time of year. great for 5 couples, plenty of king beds and bathrooms for all. Pretty much have to drive everywhere, which was not an issue for us...or just hang by the pool. Quiet area of the island which we like, but really close to everything. will gladly recommend to others, hope to return! Bob was easy to deal with.. zero hassles and totally responsive to our needs, which were very few.
Enjoy this 5 bedroom, luxury villa in St. Maarten. The property is top notch offering all the amenities. The owners are extremely helpful on advising you on activities. Enjoy Claudette's sumptuous breakfasts. Massages can be arranged in the villa. Jenny can provide all transportation for up to 12. Enjoy Orient Beach at Nathalie's French-influenced Aloha. Make this a memorable vacation for family or friends!
This was our first visit to St. Maarten and we traveled with our two children, ages 14 and 8, along with another couple and their 8 year old son. The island is amazing and the views are spectacular from Villa Bougainvillea, Dawn Beach below, Tintamarre to the left, St. Bart's to the right! This home has all the comforts of home and then some. The kitchen is perfect, the pool, porches and decks divine, you never want to go inside. Bob and Polly will give you great tips and information about the island before you ever depart, this makes the trip so much more enjoyable. The house is well equipped for everything you need, beach towels, masseuse on call, wine storage, martini shaker, elevator for the large items. Claudette, the housekeeper, is wonderful and comes over every other day. No need to over pack, you have a full sized washer and dryer available. I recommend renting a jeep as the roads are a little rough. On Bob's recommendation we rented a catamaran for one day, it was our best day there, PYC is the company and Pierre is the person to contact. It is a beautiful way to see the island and get some great snorkeling in, lunch on Pinel Island was a highlight! This is an excellent place to stay and St. Maarten is a friendly, enjoyable island to visit.
To all the outstanding reviews submitted by those privileged to enjoy this truly fantastic island home, we say a hearty AMEN !
For our family gathering of ten, six adults and four grandsons age 15 to 6 , a more perfect place to spend a memorable week would be hard to imagine. Our delightful odyssey began with the unending pre-arrival assistance graciously offered by the home's ever accommodating owners , Bob and Polly. No question or concern went unaddressed. How helpful it was to know that they were willing to regularly go above and beyond to respond to whatever we asked.
WOW is the first word that comes to mind when , upon arrival , we explored all Villa Bougainvillea has to offer . What is depicted in the photos and more awaited us. You really must experience this abode personally to grasp fully it's beauty and splendor. We never tired of soaking up the incredible vistas that this hillside dwelling provides from each and every room and deck . We found the location to be ideal , close and convenient to everything we wanted to visit. A better home base for those who like to explore or a more blissful place to simply chill out and relax would be hard to find. Take your pick or blend the two. We thoroughly enjoyed the Dawn Beach/ Oyster Pond environs but also ventured out to Orient Beach, Pinel Island, Grand Case, Marigot and Simpson Bay . Whatever one's preference, VB is the perfect launching pad from which to begin.
Rather than repeat what others have already said about their stay here, we simply offer the following thought for you to ponder - if you are looking for an outstanding, top of the line home to rent on a beautiful, fun-filled tropical island, that will treat you and yours to an unforgettable sojourn, look no further. Villa Bougainvillea will not disappoint.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this amazing vacation home. The house is ideal for a relaxing beach vacation and has a fantastic infinity pool overlooking the beach on top of a beautiful cliff side. We brought our family consisting of grandparents, aunts and uncles, and our 3 year old son to the house and everyone loved it! The house is a short walk to Dawn Beach, which was a great morning hike without our son where there are fabulous restaurants - Big Fish and Daniels by the Sea. There are also great beach side cafe/bars close by with the traditional local rum punch and fantastic fresh food. The Pier Grocery store next to the house has fresh French baguettes and dark chocolate croissants which are a total plus. However, we hardly left the house b/c it has so much to offer - a wonderful dining room, wine/tv room, gorgeous bedrooms w/ an open breeze and plenty of amenities. We highly recommend this house for a great family vacation where you can grill outside and enjoy the lovely view!
We stayed at Bob & Polly's house the last week of Jan. My husband and were joined by 3 other couples to celebrate our 25th anniversary. FYI, Bob is very responsive to emails and quick to answer any questions. Renting from strangers can be intimidating, so please let me put your mind at ease.
I was delighted to see that VB is exactly as it appears in the photographs. The stonework is beautiful! As the travel arranger, I was the honoree of many toasts throughout the week! My friends were all very pleased with their rooms, as every room had a beautiful ocean view from its own lanai, and a bathroom (though not necessarily en-suite). The house is large enough to make it an ideal location for couples traveling together, as there are tons of common areas, with furniture to comfortably accommodate all, as well as private niches to escape to.
The kitchen was well stocked. The blender didn't work, and the hot water was out in one of the baths, but a phone call to James (the Manager) quickly solved both issues. He is VERY responsive. The pool and patio were beautifully landscaped. We appreciated having beach chairs, and plenty of beach towels, to take to beaches as well. Having a washer is nice, too, so you can pack light!
It was extremely windy the week we were there, which I don't believe is common, but it was never uncomfortably hot or cold, even in January. However, I'd recommend bringing a jacket and long pants for winter evenings on the lanai.
VB is perched on a hill, in a gated community overlooking Dawn Beach. It's very convenient to the Westin (which you can access without leaving your neighborhood) and the many restaurants in Oyster Pond. FYI, it took us 30-40 minutes to get to the airport (depending on traffic), ~10 min to Phillipsburg or Orient Bay, ~20 min to Simpson Bay, Grand Case, Anse Marcel and Friar's Beaches. So if you want to go beach hopping, it's an ideal location, esp if you head to the French side away from the hustle and bustle of P'burg.
Having James pre-stock the grocery was a great perk, which I took advantage of. If you're arriving late, or after a long plane ride, I cannot tell you how nice it is to arrive to a stocked fridge and pantry. (If you arrive on the weekend, note that the large grocery store in Phillipsburg closes at 2pm.)
One other thing to note is that US$ are exchanged 1:1 everywhere on the island, so it makes fiscal sense to pay in cash vs paying with a cc. (And, yes, each room has a safe!)
Villa Bougainvilea is the largest home in prestigious Dawn Beach Estates, and every bedroom has its own private balcony; plus the large living/dining area is extremely spacious with wrap-around views. There is a separate Media Room with full wet bar, and a 60' RCA DSL TV; and a gourmet kitchen with top-brand gourmet appliances, and its own balcony with dining/seating for everyone. Take the rock staircase to the very top of the property for 360' views of the incredible island scenery.
