Woods Condo Weekend
We stayed at Rick's unit at the Woods from March 15-17, 2013.
Large unit; 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath was big enough for 2 couples.
The unit to the naked eye (pictures) look great. But your must look further. There is 1 major problem...ANIMAL HAIR
I went with my wife and another couple for a quick birthday weekend getaway.
We typically enjoy skiing the day and then hang out on the couch with a couple adult beverages around the fireplace. BUT, we couldn't do that at all. We couldn't sit on the couch. The unit was covered in animal hair (most likely dog hair). I would NOT rent this unit if you are allergic or think you could be allergic, or think anyone in your party could be allergic to animal hair. After sitting the couch your clothes are covered in hair. COVERED! It’s very stuffy and you end up with hair all over your ski pants, sweaters, jeans!! That’s not fun.
I understand the listing includes that pets are considered. But it does not say that in the main paragraph. It does not even say it in the next paragraph. You would have to scroll all the way to the bottom, where it lists it in bullet point format (along with 100 other bullet points). The same place you would find all the other amenities of the unit and surrounding Killington area. There are so many things listed (horse back riding, miniature golf, sightseeing, deck/patio, garden chairs, vcr, tv, etc). I would say that its pretty understandable to look past the "pets considered" bullet point. It’s really bad business. It’s like the fine print on your credit card statement.
Rick contacted his cleaning service who said the couches and carpet were all cleaned. (I dont disagree as the beds were made and bathrooms cleaned) But if they cleaned the couch and carpet then this is more reason to NOT rent the unit if you have problems with animal hair. My friends wife had an allergic reaction to the unit.
We asked to be refunded the cleaning fee and were denied outright. The unit owner said the cleaning service cleaned all the hair.
If you are looking for a rental I would definitely advise looking elsewhere. Don’t misconstrue my review...if animal hair on your clothes is your thing....then this unit is definitely for you. But if I were you...I would look elsewhere.
Owner's Response: WOW. I have been renting my unit for many many years and have NEVER had a dissatisfied guest so this was quite a shock. As an owner, I pride myself on providing an enjoyable stay at my house and will go out of my way to make sure it happens. The fact is 99% of people who do rent are responsible honest adults with integrity not looking to get over on the owner. I should of seen this coming with this guest..The warning signs were all there, but I choose to ignore them. Some background on Eric and his party: After quoting him a price upon his first inquiry, he ask me if there is "wiggle room" on the price since he is on a budget. I have no problem with a guest asking for a discount but I let them know that my rates are very competitive for other like units at The Woods. He finally agrees on the price for a Fri/Sat night stay.(5pm check in on Friday). He returns my rental agreement signed and where it CLEARLY states: NUMBER OF PETS (type) he puts: 0... It should be pretty obvious that my unit is pet friendly at this point. The week before their scheduled arrival Eric emails me and ask: "Would you have an issue if we decided to head up to Killington on Thursday night as opposed to Friday?" I respond that will be fine. I quote him the cost for that for the extra night ...He responds by saying: "Never mind, we'll just arrive on Friday as scheduled." I have been using the same cleaning firm and have repeatedly been told by guest how clean and neat my unit is. So when I told the firm of Eric's complaint, the owner was quite upset as she indicated that she had personally cleaned my unit. Since it is pet friendly she "always takes great strides" in cleaning it extra thoroughly. She takes great pride in her work and I trust her word over a guest that from day one has been looking to cut cost. It's just a shame that there are people out there that will do almost anything to get a refund, including making false accusations. Should this ever happen, I would suggest take pictures next time if there is a visible issue.. And PLEASE, if there is a problem with my unit, contact me IMMEDIATLY,(via cell/email) do not wait until your stay is over to complain. My cleaning firm is aware of this review and will guarantee 100% that the unit will be thoroughly clean upon a guest arrival.
