Photos and Description of the Cimiez vacation apartment rental
Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

This apartment is my personal property, recently renovated, where I come to enjoy all the wonderful sites, smells and sounds that the Cote d'Azur has to offer.

Cimiez, is the sophisticated and residential part of Nice filled with elegant villas from the Belle Epoque, fashionable apartments and sumptuous gardens where you will be immersed in the local lifestyle. It was chosen by Queen Victoria as her favorite summer residence. Originally settled by the Romans to overlook the Greek trading port at the base of the hill, Cimiez was called Cemelenum meaning 'hill top' and the ruins of its amphitheater and baths are at your doorstep.

This charming and spacious apartment measuring 52 mts is in a registered building, on the 1st floor, reached by a wide marble staircase. It has 11 ft ceilings and intricate moldings with original parquet floors. There are two private balconies, one facing the archeological site and the other overlooking Belle Epoque villas and a private garden. It is a great place from which to visit other sites around Nice, and has easily available street parking.

The large bedroom furnished with taste, has a balcony that overlooks palm, cypress and olive trees. The recently renovated marble bathroom, large in size, comes with a traditional Porcher bathtub. The spacious living/dining area with French shutters and windows, leads to a second balcony overlooking varied greenery and Belle Epoque mansions and is private, quiet and bright. The kitchen comes equipped for gourmet cooking or for a quick meal.

A few blocks away, you have a well stocked supermarket with numerous gourmet products and a great selection of wines, the local boulangerie and patisserie which makes one of the best tartines in Nice, fresh bread and croissants and an excellent boucherie/charcuterie with a nice view of Nice.

After the hussle and buzzle of Nice Ville, you will appreciate the change in pace amidst a beautiful historical setting where you can enjoy the wonderful wines especially from the Bellet region in your private garden, listen to the bells from the Monastery and walk around (or take a bike ride, included in the apartment) and enjoy the remarkable architecture that surrounds this upscale and residential neighborhood while keeping in shape for your next meal and experience!

The apartment is equipped with the following:

The Nice/Cimiez area

Across from apartment, there are many attractions that are conveniently situated close together, and all are free. You will find the Matisse Museum and his grave site housed in a 17th century Genoese style house, the Franciscan Monastery and Church. You can enjoy the Arenes park where locals play 'petanque', perhaps the sport that is closest to French hearts with a glass of 'pastis' at hand, and its floral garden which is a favorite hangout of Nice locals, overlooking the city of Nice and the beach. The amphitheater, the prestigious venue for traditional festivals is the site of the Nice Jazz Festival, held every July where thousands of international visitors listen to top performers.

Nice is known for it's climate, geographical location and rich history. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is the 2nd city after Paris in number of museums and galleries. It's got a large selection of gourmet restaurants and top chefs of French cuisine, specialties and treats, shopping, relaxation, markets, bars, antiques, everything in your hands. A few minutes from Cimiez, domains and castles await you on the wine road. In the heart of the vineyards, discover and taste the Bellet wines, one of the best in France and the rose Cremants for only 7 euros! A list of recommended restaurants are provided upon your arrival.

Charming

Submitted: April 11, 2013 Stayed: January 2013
I chose to vacation during the cooler weather in early February and it turned out great. Days were usually warm enough; charming neighborhood - about 20 mintues from city center but plenty of bus choices since I did not have a car and they run very frequently and on time; lovely market two blocks away which made it easy to prepare breakfast and dinner with good choices; the flat has everything you need - very comfortable. Samantha was extremely helpful and quickly responded to any of my phone calls or emails. Had a wonderful time!!!

We Wish It WERE Our Home Away from Home

5 of 5
Submitted: November 3, 2012 Stayed: September 2012
Because our 1-week stay in Nice was to follow 2 very busy weeks in Paris, we selected this Cimiez apartment for its' promised serenity. What a lucky choice! The apartment is quiet and feels like a true home away from home. It is beautifully appointed, as mentioned in prevous reviews (to add a few details, with a lovely chandelier in the LR, another in the bath joined by a whimsical flying Asian angel who changes her flight direction when the washing machine is running.) Of interest to female visitors might be the several full-length mirrors, something we found missing in other apartments rented during our trip. We were met at the apartment by Patricia's lovely (and lively) representative, Samantha, who brought us keys and gave a thorough tour of the apartment's amenities. Among Sam's most memoriable descriptions was Patricia's "Cadillac" of espresso machines, which it surely was.

We very much enjoyed the beautiful neighborhood, the closeness to three museums and an abbey. The nearby gourmet grocery was a frequent source of homemade and (sometimes yummy frozen French specialty) meals. We dined several times at the little Cote Sud restaurant a short walk away. A late morning walk in the neighborhood led us to explore the elegant residences of Le Regina. There we discovered a charming "salon de the'" on the ground floor, L'Altro Cose Cosi, where we enjoyed our lunch surrounded by a modern decor of gray and white; the salon also serves as boutique of floral and other decorative items.

We did not rent a car while in Cimiez but took advantage of the excellent bus system (3 lines, Cimiez-Place Massena in Nice.) A small restaurant across from the buses' departure point for Cimiez, the Casa Nissa, drew us back a second time for their "petits farcis" and Bellet wines; a next-door wine shop provided bottles of Bellet to take "home."

Our only exploration of the coast was a trip on the 100 bus through Monte Carlo to Menton to visit two Jean Cocteau museums. The bus was extremely crowded until Monte Carlo, where most riders got off. The afternoon ride back to Nice took us into Monte Carlo rush hour traffic...a slow trip, but enjoyable in giving time to peer into shops and see everday life along the way.

In Cimiez we found ourselves in perhaps the most elegant neighborhood in NIce. What a beautiful place to live! We strongly recommend this apartment on its' own merits and because of the interest and helpfulness provided by Patricia and Samantha. Aloha

It was a wonderful 5 days in Nice, thanks in part to the lovely apartment. Easy to get to everything and yet away from the busy part of Nice. Great bathroom and very nice bedding, making it feel more like your own home. Lots of tips in the welcome book to help get you started for your time in Nice. Thanks for the use of your apartment.

We Enjoyed It All

4 of 5
Submitted: October 23, 2012 Stayed: October 2012
First, the apartment is lovely, with an elegant decor (we especially enjoyed the whimsical touches in the bathroom). It had everything my husband and I needed to enjoy ourselves when we were tired from sight-seeing, from the espresso machine (for our early morning coffee) in the well equipped kitchen, to the TV with numerous channels, to the wifi and stereo system (we found a great jazz station), not to mention the two charming balconies where we ate our meals and sipped our Cote d'Provence wine (thoughtfully provided by the owner). The owner's agent met us at the apartment and couldn't have been more helpful. Second, the location was perfect for us. Yes, it is a long walk to the beach and city center (although there is a shortcut), but the buses are frequent and the neighborhood scenery is lovely, from the belle epoque mansions to the views of the city; the nearby gourmet supermarket supplied everything we needed; and, it is a ten minute walk to the excellent Chagall Museum, five minutes to the Matisse Museum, park and church garden. Finally, Patricia's notes and the agent's information about the local area, getting to nearby towns (we traveled to Cannes by train and to Eze by bus, both wonderful day trips) and her restaurant recommendations were very helpful (and delicious!). Thanks to Patricia for this lovely treat. We hope we will be able to return soon to this charming apartment and romantic city.

Charming stay

4 of 5
Submitted: August 15, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
We had rented the appt because of the look, positioning in Cimez, the WIFI and the A/C. At our arrival we met Samantha who responded to our questions & provided an excellent service for our needs and she was available all trough our stay (prompt email answer). We discovered that the appt was more equipped than expected and very convenient. The entire place has a lot of windows and become easily breezy. For what I’m concerned, the kitchen was my place. Fully equipped with a lot of nice dishes + Espresso machine to start the day. Ok the TV is not a 50”, but we cached a lot of channels. The WIFI is fast. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom as well as a portable A/C unit if needed. Lovely place with high ceilings & style. The grocery store is at a walking distance near the roman’s arena. It was easy to park our car on streets along the building. Thank-you Patricia
