About Chris Isenhart

I fell in love with Cape May while in college and it's been home ever since. I live here year round with my family. We feel lucky to live in such a beautiful area. We love to travel to other places, but are always happy to return to our Cape Island! When our long time year round tenant moved cross country to be closer to family, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to share our little bit of paradise with others!

Chris Isenhart purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Chris Isenhart chose Cape May

During college I came to Cape May to work for the summer. I got the sand between my toes and in my heart! Aside from returning to campus to finish up classes, I've NEVER left!!! That was more than 25 years ago...I can't imagine being away from the ocean. We bought this house 7 years ago because of the location. It's a quiet rural neighborhood, yet a 5 minute bike ride to anywhere in town. We have the best of both worlds!

What makes this apartment unique

Our goal is to make your visit effortless! Just throw some clothes in a bag and come! We provide linens, bikes, beach tags, beach chairs, beach towels, even a cooler to take to the beach if you like! We have all the latest brochures and information about the goings on around town. We'll even help set up babysitting if needed. You are welcome to share the bounty our seasonal vegetable garden. Come out and pick ripe Jersey tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and more! You've got a sunny deck just outside your door and are welcome to share our shady front porch with rockers and hanging baskets! Our location has it all from beaches to birding and hiking to fine dining and antiquing. You may not want to go home!

Perfect beach getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful vacation at the Isenhart apartment. The rental was incredibly spacious and very comfortable. Chris was a fantastic host and was extremely helpful in giving suggestions and offering the various delights her house has to offer! We took full advantage of the pool and our 2 year old LOVED the giant trampoline in the backyard (which was a nice and surprising bonus). I highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a fun-filled, relaxing getaway to Cape May. We are definitely planning on visiting again!

Warm, Welcoming Cape May Neighborhood Home

  • 5 of 5

The Isenhart House was a perfect, relaxing introduction to VRBO and to Cape May for my partner and I. It is a bright, cheery 1BR apartment attached to the Isenhart family home (similar to an attached mother-in-law style apartment). It has its own porch and separate entrance but shares the front/back yards w/ the house/Isenhart family. Chris was very warm, friendly and welcoming. She provided us with ample maps, brochures and restaurant suggestions- and a great insider's perspective of Cape May. She thoughtfully provided just about all the amenities one needs (bring your own toiletries), including: beach towels, chairs, beach tags, wi-fi, hair dryer, curling iron, bikes with baskets/locks, and a kitchen w/ all the necessary cooking utensils. The bedding and the couch were very comfortable, and the apartment is quite spacious w/ a full living room for lounging. We truly enjoyed meeting her and her family-including the backyard chickens! ;) The location is within 10-30 min biking distance to just about anywhere you would want to go in Cape May and is in a nice, quiet neighborhood with lots of greenery and lovely gardens. We didn't get to use the front porch or shared backyard/pool/BBQ spaces (it was a bit too chilly); but, we especially enjoyed biking around the neighborhood and to both downtown and Cape May Point. The best part about the Isenhart House was Chris herself; it's invaluable to meet such a down-to-earth, kind local resident when you are checking out a new vacation destination. We absolutely would consider returning anytime.

Pleasant stay in Cape May

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I were visiting the area for me to attend a 45th HS reunion and to visit some friends who came down. This accommodation was spacious and very well located. We brought bikes and were happy to have a garage for storage. We didn't use the pool(not pool weather) or the deck(too busy) but the property was nice and quiet. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels and though we only made coffee and toast in the am the kitchen seemed adequately supplied. It was also a bright place with lovely air flow. After staying in many hotels with noisy AC, road noise and tight quarters, this was a nice change. We were 11/2 miles from the downtown area and there were two nice places for breakfast and dinner just around the corner. We love Cape May so except to return again. Glad we stayed here.

A great place to stay specially with kids!!

  • 5 of 5

Our recent trip to this cottage was a wonderful one specially because of the wonderful owner. The place is quite spacious for a one bedroom unit. First thing that struck me was how clean the rooms were. The house had a very welcome look. Outside the cottage the surroundings are unkept and the location gives you a feeling of being among the woods. We did not get a chance to visit their vegetable garden which most of the reviewers have appreciated, may be because of the season but we saw the chickens and my li'l one enjoyed watching them. The pool was also not functional, again because of the cooling weather. The owner is very approachable and helpful. She had her double stroller all washed and ready for us, absolutely clean, which was a great help with two kids. One suggestion to Chris would be to add that she provides iron/iron board in her listing description since it is available and might help others. The beach can be reached by riding a bike or driving. The lighthouse and some other attractions are closeby. Her collection of books was my treat. I managed to complete Mary Higgins Clark work in the short time that I was there. Made my day. If we were to visit Cape May again (which I am sure will be soon), you would be seeing us again Chris.

the best hospitality we've ever had!!!! love it here, will most definitely be back

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time at Chris'. The apartment was VERY VERY clean and REALLY big, even though it's only a 1 bedroom. Everything thing that we could possibly need during our stay was there. Chris even let us use her pack n' play, high chair and little bike for our daughter. She's the sweetest lady ever and made us feel right at home. The location is fantastic. You could easily ride one of the bikes provided or drive to the beach/washington street mall area; however, you are away from the busy/tourist part of town. the surrondings are so peaceful and serene. I love it here.

Frequent Cape Mayniac

  • 4 of 5

We frequent Cape May often & our stay at the Isenhart house did not disappoint. We enjoyed the coziness of the apartment, private parking, all of the extras provided, such as beach tags, bikes, etc...

If an item wasn't there Chris offered to get it for us. She was very friendly & helpful, even offering summer goodies from her garden. I will definitely stay here again & would recommend it to my family. Our stay was short, but we filled it with visits to Poverty & Cape May Point beaches. Mainly, we relaxed at the house getting some much needed R & R.
