Wonderful lakeside cottage just a mile from Leland!

This is the place where memories are made! This elegant cottage on Robinson’s Bay is just one mile from downtown Leland and 15 feet from the shore of Lake Leelanau! This Early American style home is charming and comfortable ... the perfect place to relax inside, swim from the dock, or use as a central base to explore the wonders of Northwest Michigan. Our home has a large family room, two bedrooms, two newly remodeled baths, a newly-remodeled kitchen that opens up to a large screened-in porch,where you can enjoy early morning coffee, and meals at a table with unobstructed lakeside views, to get that close to the water feel all day long. Washer/dryer and dishwasher. Dock available for your own boat, swimming over a sandy bottom, or just sunbathing. Sleeps four comfortably. A second cottage is available next door, also sleeping four. Wi-Fi and cable television included. We've got a lot of photos below ... we're very proud of this place and know you'll love it!

Leland is America at its finest! The pace is slow, the mood is easy, and families and couples alike love the area for its charm and simplicity. Walk next to the lake to Fishtown ... the historic center of Leland where you can buy whitefish fresh from the boat. Gather your supplies at the Mercantile and pop across the street for breakfast at the Bluebird or a great cup of coffee and a muffin from the Stone House Bakery. Make sure you stop by the Village Cheese Shanty for a sandwich that is unmatched. Wander through the shops at your leisure, or just sit by the brand-new dock on Lake Michigan and watch the boats come in. And two favorite spots for locals are The Cove and Rick's Restaurant ... you can sit right by the waterfall that connects Lake Leelanau and Lake Michigan! For the more adventurous, a five minute walk takes you to the Sleeping Bear National Forest, where you can hike along well-kept wooded trails to a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan. Long newly-paved roads offer the best of biking, and the Sleeping Bear Sand Dune is a giant mountain of sand perfect for hikers and kids. It is a truly magical place, and you will want to return year after year.

About The Owner

My brother, sister and I share ownership of two places side by side in Leland. I am a general contractor ... my brother is a painting contractor, and my sister is a retired military officer. We've been coming here for nearly 60 years and want others to be able to share the same experiences that we have loved in Leland.

The Owner purchased this house in 1982
Why The Owner chose Leland

This home has been in my family now for three generations, and I've been coming to Lake Leelanau my whole life. One of the features I like most about the area is that , even from early childhood, much of the area has remained unchanged ... much like the movie 'On Golden Pond.' It's romantic and charming and sweet and simple ... the perfect place for a summer vacation!

What makes this house unique

You can do everything in the Leelanau Peninsula from our centrally-located home! From boating to sailing to swimming to sunbathing ... from shopping to wine-tasting to eating to resting ... from hiking to biking to golfing to running ... it's all here! We spend hours on the lake having lunch and jumping in for a quick cool-down. We have friends over and listen to music and watch the sun set. We take day trips to Mackinac Island, Charlevoix and Traverse City, which is only about a 35 minute drive, for locally-grown gourmet dinners that change weekly depending on the season. Then we come home every night to a happy home filled with memories and bliss.

We were so pleased with this cottage. The location is perfect right on lake leelenau and less than a mile from downtown Leland. It was perfectly clean and well maintained and more spacious than we expected. We loved being close to sleeping bear dunes, the ferry over to south manitou and leelenau state park. The owners are great to work with as well. Our favorite place we have stayed in northern michigan!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
