If you and your party of six are looking for the perfect place to stay in the Vail Valley, your choices run the gamut from the opulence of Vail to the humbler accommodations of the chain motels at the Valley's outer edge. Located at the entrance to Beaver Creek Resort, here's the perfect compromise: A lovely two bedroom condo that puts you close to great skiing at Beaver Creek, Vail and beyond, close-in recreational amenities at the Avon Recreation Center, and, of course, the myriad activities waiting for you - summer or winter - in the beautiful, abundant, and majestic Rocky Mountains that are right outside your door!
Settle into the spacious living area with its comfy chairs, mounds of pillows, and a lodge decor that syncs perfectly with Avon's mountain ambiance. When that infamous Colorado snowstorm moves in, flick on the fireplace, make some popcorn, and watch your favorite show on cable. Or, slip a DVD into the player and watch one of the movies you brought. For simpler pleasures (in nicer weather), step out on the patio and savor the mountain vista in front of you. The mission furniture and snowshoes on the wall give this place a warm, rustic feel even though you're in the very heart of Avon.
A bigger group needs a good-sized kitchen, and this condo has just that. In addition to the stove, fridge, and microwave you'd expect, there's a coffee maker, coffee grinder, and blender as well. Those pancakes, eggs, and coffee will be ready for those early risers, anxious to hit the slopes! Prep work and cleanup will be easy with plenty of counter space and a dishwasher. The big wooden dining table with room for four will not only accommodate a meal, but a friendly game of cards or board game as well.
This condo sleeps six comfortably. The master bedroom has a roomy king bed and a soft chair where you can catch Letterman or Leno before you go to sleep. There are two twin beds in the other bedroom. It also has a TV so the kids can watch too.(Not too late, though!) And for a bigger group, there can never be too many bathrooms. This condo has two full baths, so the wait time to get ready for bed or to go out is minimal.
Your stay at this condo puts you close to two great ski resorts - Beaver Creek and Vail. Skiers have direct access to the slopes of Beaver Creek by simply stepping out the door and hopping on the Riverfront Express Gondola. Even closer are the amenities right across the street in the Avon Recreation Center. For a small daily fee, you'll get access to everything the Center has to offer: hot tub, yoga, cardio and Pilates classes, athletic equipment of every sort, and an aquatic center that includes a water slide and lazy river tubing. Just down the street is Nottingham Park where you can rent a paddleboat in the summer and skate on the rink in the winter. If you're in the park on the 4th of July, you'll witness Colorado's biggest fireworks display!
The Eagle River runs right through Avon, so of course anglers will be able to cast their lines and kayakers and rafters can shoot the rapids. Hikers will find at least five trails locally, including hikes to Booth Falls and Beaver Lake. You can even parasail, or take a balloon ride in the area. The resort has a complimentary shuttle. Bus service in the Town of Avon is free, and links up with to the larger Eco Bus system that will take to Vail and other parts of the Valley.
So what are you waiting for? If you're coming to the Vail Valley, why not stay at a condo that's roomy, affordable, and close to all sorts of great activities, and right in the middle of the magnificent Rockies!
