My husband and I live in the Twin Cities and own a small custom home, remodel and design company for the past 30 years. We enjoy traveling, fishing, boating, gardening, and anything that has to do with 'creating' something.
Jan purchased this house in 2004
Why Jan chose Lake Pepin
We fell in love with the area upon our first visit there, which was due to a job transfer in1974. We thought that we had died and gone to heaven as the rolling hills and bluffs were just so beautiful. We also fell in love with the Mississippi River and officially became 'river rats' or ones who can't get enough of the river, love the fact that it is ever changing, ever powerful, always beautiful, abundant with wildlife, and there are always fish to be caught in it! At that time we said that we would love to retire in the area someday. As 'someday' started getting closer, we started looking in the area for a vacation home that could eventually become our retirement home. It took some time, but we finally found it! The fact that the home was pretty bland looking inside, at that time, just make it more exciting for us as we knew that we would be able to turn it into something beautiful.
What makes this house unique
You can't help but be mesmerized by the views, whether from the front yard, back yard, deck, patio, dock or the house. The Mississippi River and surrounding bluffs are beautiful and the home is a warm and inviting place in which to enjoy it all. There is nothing better than starting the morning with a cup of coffee on the deck or dock and listening to the birds sing.

Jan - I didn't realize I had to create an account in order to post a review. We loved your place, but I do not join websites. Just hate all the spam, etc from it.
I will post a review right here and perhaps you could somehow post it?
Arrived: Nov. 27, 2013
Our extended family stayed at the Lodge for a week at Thanksgiving and boy, were we glad we did. The place is terrific. Well-decorated, cozy, comfy common areas and everything we needed for cooking and serving a big Thanksgiving feast. The river view is amazing; each morning we watched several eagles conduct their morning hunt over the Mississippi. We even got a little fishing in ourselves. Enjoyed morning walks along the River and had a great November picnic at the Buena Vista park above Alma. We couldn't have had a more relaxing, enjoyable Holiday. And, Jan's festive decorations added a lovely touch to the festivities. I couldn't recommend the Lodge more. It's especially nice for large groups. Stay here- you won't be disappointed.
