I've lived in Austin, Texas since 1984 when I started school at the University of Texas -- go horns! I love Austin and all the fun things there are to do here. The city is so vibrant! I lived in this house for 18 years and only moved a few miles away because of a growing family. Hands down -- this is the best location in town because of its close proximity to everything there is to do and the fact that you experience no traffic!
This home is a unique pocket of Austin called 'Clarksville' and it's a fabulous pedestrian area where, within 3 blocks, you can walk to the local grocery (Fresh Plus), Italian bistro (Cipollina), coffee house (Cafe Medici), drug store with original soda fountain (Nau's Drugs), church (St. Luke's), 9th street park, local watering hole (the Tavern), and more.
I bought this property because I wanted to be able to walk to work downtown, the University of Texas, and the State Capitol. I also wanted to be able to have fabulous restaurants and night spots near my home. Some of the best dining in Austin, including Sandra Bullock's, Bess Bistro, southwestern cuisine favorite, Z Tejas, and hidden jewel, Cafe Josie, are all walking distance. The art galleries along West 6th Street and the bars, including the Johnny Cash tribute, the Mean Eyed Cat, are all walking distance.
The outside of the property is very unassuming, and then, when you walk inside, you see a fabulous remodel with warmth and all modern amenities. This is one of the larger homes in the area and one of the few that has ample parking and a spacious backyard.
