LUXURY APARTMENT BY THE PANTHEON IN THE HEART OF ROME

We are just back from a 4-night stay in beautiful Rome in Jason's apartment. I travelled with 4 other adults. The most impressive draw to this property is the location beside the Pantheon - it is simply stunning. It is also very close to the Trevi fountain, the shopping district and within easy walking distance of the Spanish Steps. We also walked to St. Peter's Basilica (20/25 mins) from here.

The apartment, which was recently renovated, was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bathrooms, both of which contain showers, were particularly lovely. The bedrooms had 2 very comfortable double/king beds (not twin beds, as you might expect in Italy, but since I was travelling with my sisters, this didn't pose a problem) and there was a fold-out double bed in the living room. The apartment is located directly opposite Jason's restaurant, Fortunato Al Pantheon (which we ate in on one night and it was wonderful). There is a small elevator up to the apartment which is on the 3rd floor which was great as my mother was travelling with us and would not have been able for the flights of stairs. Despite it's location, there is very little street noise when the bedroom windows are closed as the street is for pedestrians only. There is a decent supermarket around the corner which is reasonably priced and has all you need for breakfast or packed lunches.

Any drawbacks? If you are looking for an apartment with views, this is not for you, as there are only 2 windows in the bedrooms which overlook the lane below but we didn't think this detracted from the property given it's location. The kitchen, while having all modern equipment, is rather small but we only used it for making breakfast in the morning so that didn't bother us. I think the only problem we had was that there was no electric tea-kettle which us Irish are used to for our many cups of tea!! There was, however, a steel jug for boiling water on the gas stove so that was the first job for the early riser in the morning and it worked out fine.

I would highly recommend this apartment for a group of 5 adults or a family with children. This was my second visit to Rome and I loved it even more this time because of where we stayed and having the ability to walk out the door and ramble the many little laneways that criss-cross the Pantheon Square.
