we rented this awesome place for a week. my son got married at the sirata beach resort which trader's haven was very close to the resort. i must said the condo was comfortable and spacious we has 25 people for the rehearsal dinner and everyone had a great time. John and Rosmary were the best. i would recommend this condo to all my friends and family. the shop and resturantes were the best. The beach is very close to the condo...i will rent this condo AGAIN NEXT YEAR.....
Family and friends stayed at Traders Haven for my daughter's beach wedding in October, 2013. The place is quirky, fun and really different - everyone loved it! There was plenty of room for all. It took a few days to get our bearings - we kept getting lost looking for the bathrooms!!! The former tenant's comment about the showerhead is true - they are made for very short people! All in all, a wonderful place to stay - close to everything and very comfortable. Would highly recommend!
Total of 8 of us stayed there...but had 22 there for lunch, and had plenty of room. Very close to beach and waterway. Not bothered at all by any of the great nightlife in the area. Would suggest an investment in handheld shower heads...showers were designed for people around 5 feet tall. Super place to vacation.
We had a wonderful week at Trader's Haven. We had a large group (13 adults) for our daughter's graduation and the place was very spacious. The Pass-a-grille area is so unique with its shops and restaurants. Location location location...... a block to the beautiful sandy beaches and 1/2 block to the inter-coastal waterway. Thanks to Rosemary (the property manager) she was a pleasure to work with and was willing to take care of any request.
Traders Haven was the perfect fit for a family gathering, with 10 adults, two small children, and occasional visiting family from nearby St. Petersburg. Nothing antiseptic about this gem. Five bedrooms, great living room and dining areas, a back porch and deck -- a half-block from the Gulf, a half-block from the Intercoastal Waterway, above two charming shops. Pass-A-Grille isn't a typical beach experience, thankfully, and Traders Haven perfectly fits the funky, low-key ambiance of this historic corner of St. Pete Beach. (Don't miss the Maryland crabcakes at the Brass Monkey, or Diane Gugliotta's gallery across the street). Everyone in our party loved it. It was well-appointed, well-kept, very reasonably priced, and the property manager couldn't have been more helpful.
My husband, our 9 friends, and I could not have been happier with our stay at Trader's Haven. Rosemary worked with our schedule at check in/check out, was available whenever we had any questions, and was VERY pleasant from start to finish. There was more than enough room for 11 of us. The location was perfect. Pass-a-Grille beach was a very short walk away. The beach and ocean were beautiful. We are all in our late 20s or early 30s, and we found this area was perfect for us. We rented a car and drove to Publix a couple times, but there was a lot to do within walking distance. We went to Shadrack's Bar several nights during our week stay. It is just across the street. We enjoyed Pass-a-Taco, just around the corner from 8th Ave. They have great fish tacos and the owner Kim was a really fun lady! We went to Paradise Grille on the beach daily for food and drinks because it was super convenient when you didn't want to leave the beach all day! We weren't impressed with the food at the Wharf. Gennaro's Italian (across the road from the Wharf @ 21st Ave) had really good eggplant pizza. There was a really yummy vegan, raw, and gluten free cafe across the street called Vida De Cafe that everyone really liked, even though my husband and I were the only two vegetarians in our group. Our first morning, we ate at the Seahorse (on the corner of 8th Ave). It was overpriced, the potatoes lacked any kind of flavor or seasoning, and the veggie omelet was overflowing with onions! Yuck! I would NOT recommend this place. We ate at the Hurricane for dinner one night, which was good, but the service was pretty horrible. We tried having lunch there one day and multiple employees acted like they didn't even see us standing there waiting on a hostess? So we turned around and walked out. We got food to go one night from the Brass Monkey (beside Pass-a-Taco) and the jumbo peel-and-eat shrimp were HUGE! The caesar salad was probably one of the worst I've had, but the monster shrimp made up for it. We drove to Madfish (very good but pricey) and Crabby Bill's (good food compared to others in the area). There are plenty of places to eat, but you just have to find the right places. I was most disappointed on this trip by how much money we wasted on sub-par food. Otherwise, we LOVED this beach, and loved Trader's Haven, and we will definitely be back! I recommend Trader's Haven to anyone looking for a place with character and a great location!
This Gulf of Mexico is at one end of the block. The Florida Intercoastal is at the other with the Merry Pier for fishing (several piers and sea wall all a short walk), bait, gear, jet ski, charter fishing, trips to islands and snorkeling spots, dolphin watching, and sailing.
