We had 3 couples. The house is amazing! Decorated with class and elegance. The kitchen is huge and 6 of us could cook at the same time. Kitchen supplies are stocked to the hilt! The bedrooms each have full LARGE bathrooms. For 6 of us we never ran out of hot water which is a HUGE plus when its 40 out. The rooms are separate ends of the house so there is lots of privacy. The sweeping mountain views from the back porch which spans the length of the house are amazing. There is a fit pit, lots of furniture on the back porch and a charcoal grill. The common area of the house has plenty of room. Alice and Mark were very accommodating passing on lots of information and giving us phone numbers and contacts if needed. She has kindly arranged having common items there when you arrive - toilet paper, paper towels etc. So if you arrive at night you don't feel you have to rush to the store. There is quite a lot of stuff to do in the area close by. Brevard is 30 mins away but a great little town. In Lake Toxaway there are a couple great restaurants. The water falls in the area are beautiful. For the price of this home nightly I would return every year. It is a BANG for your buck! Alice and Mark, THANK YOU for making some great memories for my husband and his company employees!
The house was absolutely lovely and so clean; kitchen amenities are nice and space is so big, perfect for cooking. Alice is an amazing owner and manager, absolutely checking in and seeing if we needed anything. The house is filled with instructions re: trash, laundry, etc. which is extremely helpful. The house bedroom layout is fantastic for two families. It was also so nice to be able to use the club during our trip.
My wife and I rented this house for 4 weeks, from mid-June through mid-July. The listing description was accurate, and the photos were good. The house was clean and well maintained. The owner was helpful in answering questions before our arrival, pre and post booking, and was present at Lake Toxaway during our stay. During our stay we had other family members join us and we used all 3 bedrooms for about half the time we were there.
We paid a one-time fee ($150) for access to the Lake Toxaway Country Club facilities, and it was nice for dining at the clubhouse and for use of the swimming pool. The special 4th of July event was very nice, for adults and children. However, access to other facilities was a substantial extra charge. Lake Toxaway is a completely private lake, there is no public access.
At nearby locations we went tubing on the French Broad river, visited nearby waterfalls, hiked in parks, rented a pontoon boat on a lake, and played golf on a 9-hole executive course. There are few nearby restaurants; Amore and the Brown Trout Mountain Grille were good. Other restaurants and grocery stores are available in Cashiers and Brevard, about 15-20 miles away.
The lighting in the house was generally OK, but was marginal in the dining room and family room areas. The air conditioning worked well, as did the hot water supply. There was no home phone available and our (AT&T) cell phones did not work well there. Internet access via wi-fi was available and worked well. The outside grill was a Weber charcoal grill.
I would recommend this rental house to a friend or relative.
This is a gorgeous property! Clean and as pictured. Spacious home provided plenty of privacy for our party of six but open gathering spaces encouraged lots of family time. It was very simple and reasonable to rent a boat from the nearby marina for a great day on the lake. The well equipped kitchen made it easy to cook in and local resturants made it equally easy to dine out. Fabulous property and wonderful owners to work with! Highly reccomended. We also enjoyed the hike to the base of whitewater falls and playing in the river, sliding rock and looking glass falls and shopping in Brevard. We enjoyed Brevard more than Cashiers but we were early in the season so that may make it different. We enjoyed dining at Haps in Glenview and Square Root in Brevard.
Had a wonderful stay this past week. The house is just beautiful and so relaxing. Nothing better than sitting on the screened-in porch enjoying the fireplace and panormaic mountain views. We were in heaven!!
