This luxury modern home is nestled in the upscale community of Rolling Bay on Bainbridge Island. This particular location, situated on a bluff overlooking the Sound, is noted by many locals as one of the most encompassing views of the Sea and Sound. The home is situated along the end of Valley road in the quiet Rolling Bay community,it has one of the best views on the island with a 270 degree view overlooking the Puget Sound. The surrounding scenery from the front yard deck and living room floor to ceiling windows of the home opens to the expansive beauty of the sea. From any of the bedrooms or out on the slate deck, see ocean waves rolling in on the beach, the ships as they leisurely make their way across the Puget sound, or the twinkling lights of the Seattle skyline.
Journaling and reading are my favorite past times. I spent most of my youth in California, and later headed to the east coast to attend graduate school. Having lived in cities and towns from California, to Michigan, Iowa and Washington D.C. I find Bainbridge island living the most moderate paced. It is a sweet blend of Seattle city culture when you wish, alongside the privacy of country and small town living. A perfect inspirational setting for those aspiring storytellers.
Julie Shatzel purchased this house in 2012
This private community sits atop one of the higher elevations on the island. As far as the eye can see, there are ocean and city skyline views. The views are enhanced by the floor to ceiling windows that dominate the living room and master bedroom. Awaken to spectacular sunlight reflecting off the rippling ocean currents, and relax as you watch the lull of sailboats and natural ocean life that speckle the the expanse of the glassy sea.
This home is the perfect place for family gatherings, outdoor enthusiasts, or a couples getaway. It brings families together, puts us in awe of nature's beauty and calms the spirit. It is situated within walking distance of Rolling Bay Cafe, which serves sublime coffee and wonderful breakfast pastries. Pino's pasta is also within walking distance, you'll find daily fresh made pasta and sauces and meet Pino. There are a myriad of plants on the island that offer their wonderful variety of green foliage as the splendor of the plants and flowers nourished by the community residents.
We arrived to find tulips on the dining room table and Blackbird Bakery goodies. These we enjoyed along with two stunning February days and a gorgeous view up the Sound. Spring is here quite early, so we even got to see blossoms in the garden and trees. The house is modern, clean, comfortable and wonderfully bright, and the views are incredible. From the start, the owner was responsive and thoughtful. Definitely a place anyone will enjoy!
Great house. Even better view! We had two families share the home for a long weekend and we lucked out with the weather. You could spend several days at the home and not even bother with the ferry ride into Seattle, as the house and yard/view is more than enough to enjoy for days and days. Julie, the owner, was nice and easy to work with and we would love to stay here again and again and again!!!!!!!!
The house was great and the garden and views magnificent, there was plenty of space for all to do their own thing and enjoy watching the shipping and the birds. We spent two weeks, and could have stayed longer, I am a fan of Bainbridge Island and the Rolling Bay community, Thanks to the owner for a wonderful experience.
I spent a week in this beautiful home on Bainbridge Island with my 2 children and my mother. The house is lovely and the views are truly breathtaking. The owner was wonderful, very kind and extremely accommodating. The house is lovely; very clean, spacious, bright and airy. The house is well stocked and we spent most days sitting in the garden enjoying the views, cooking or going for walks. Very convenient location too, a few minutes walk to some little shops. One of our best rental experiences to date!
Thank you to the owners!
We rented this house for a corporate retreat. Everything was as described, the owner was responsive, the property manager was responsive (and brought us treats from a local bakery), the views were fantastic, and the house was well-stocked. Highly recommended, would stay there again.
Many vacationers with young children will swear that Disney World is the Happiest Place on Earth, but let me assure you that Mickey and friends have nothing on this wonderful retreat on Bainbridge Island. My husband and our two kids were privileged enough to spend a week at this wonderful property. We had previously lived in Seattle for six years and returned for a long overdue visit to catch up with friends and relax. The house and its views are simply stunning. It's location is absolutely perfect--convenient to the many quaint little towns we had grown to love during our time in the Pacific NW--Poulsbo (don't miss JJ's Fish House), Port Gamble, Port Townsend, and Winslow (make sure you a crepe at Bainbridge Crepes--they are fabulous and the owner is super-sweet). Our son says the hot chocolate at the Rolling Bay Cafe is the best in Seattle and, trust me, he drank a lot of hot chocolate during his visit so he should know. We were a short jaunt from the ferry terminal and were able to ride the ferry to downtown and be tourists...and then return to our wonderfully quiet house to regroup as a family. Another not to be missed activity--The Bloedel Reserve, a short ten minute ride from the house. The spectacular gardens are simply amazing. The weather for our stay was a bit on the chilly side but the rain held off for the majority of our visit and we were treated to unbelievably beautiful views each day. The owner, Julie, is extremely accommodating and communicative; thank you, Julie! We can't wait to come back!
