2 Bedrooms/1 Bathroom. very comfortable, fully accomodated

New Vacation Rental just since November 2012 with excellent customer service and five star reviews!

PLEASE VIEW OUR VIDEO AT BOTTOM OF LISTING

Casa Elena is an authentic adobe house built in 1989 and is located on five glorious, private acres with an unobstructed view of Taos Mountain. It features beautiful viga and latilla ceilings, adobe finished walls, flagstone floors, an enchanting loft accessed by a redwood spiral staircase, a Kiva fireplace and full bathroom.

Casa Elena is VERY clean. All linens, including the bedspreads are laundered between parties.

The downstairs bedroom, which has an excellent view of Taos Mountain, features a comfy queen size bed with flannel sheets during the winter, plenty of pillows and a dual controlled mattress warmer. Lie in bed at night at look at the lovely ceiling or local art on the walls or read in peace and quiet while in bed or in our comfy chair.

Upstairs in the loft is a king size bed, also fitted with flannel sheets in the winter. There is also a lovely, brown corduroy daybed that looks down from the loft into the living room. Enjoy a great view of Taos Mountain from a wonderful octagonal window. You will feel very at ease and relaxed in this lovely room.

The living room has a very cozy brand new couch and love seat with of course, a great view of Taos Mountain. The couch is also a queen size sleeper sofa. Drift off to sleep with flickering lights on the adobe walls and crackling sounds from the fire in the fireplace or warm your toes after a great day of skiing. This cozy environs will whisk away your troubles and leave you relaxed and ready to explore this amazing locale another day.

The kitchen has everything you need to make margaritas, cook a turkey, serve fondue or just have some cheese and wine. It is complete with a stove, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator (crushed or non-crushed ice), microwave, coffee maker, crock pot, fondue pot, paella pan, Nambe serving dishes, turkey platter, wine and champagne glasses...you name it and if it's not there we'll do our best to get it for you.

Enjoy the decor, mostly decorated with local art. Casa Elena currently features the excellent art work (paintings and sculpture) of Denny Wood. His work is for sale and he would be happy to meet with you if you have questions or a special request.

The firewood is provided. Split, stacked right outside your front door and ready to burn!

The bathroom is delightful. It features a deep, claw-foot bathtub, glass cut pineapple lights over the sink, hundred year-old barn wood pedestals and a blue window. Why a blue window you ask? Taos tradition states that if you have at least one window in your house painted blue, it will keep the evil spirits away. The only spirits that will visit you in this room however, is maybe a glass of wine or a salty margarita, while you soak in the tub.

The back yard is fenced with a lovely latilla and beam style fence. In the spring and summer it is alive with beautiful flowers and is a lovely place for a BBQ. There is a large cottonwood tree for shade where you can sit quietly and read a book or take a well-deserved nap.

The front of the house has that stunning view clear up to the mountain and open land to either side. There are cedar, pine and cottonwood trees, sagebrush and sunflowers. Magpies are regular visitors and spring through fall brings the Robins. Watch the skies for hawks which are regulars and the occasional Bald Eagle (there's been one here for about 6 months now). Currently, there are two desert cottontails living in the barn to the west and they often play within view. Also to the west is an antique hay lift, possibly close to 100 years old. As far as we know, it is the only one left in Northern New Mexico. The view from this front porch has offered some of the most exciting and awe inspiring sunsets on Taos Mountain we have ever seen, not to mention dramatic summer thunder and lightning storms and pristine winter snow scenes. The view is NEVER boring!

Oh, I guess we should mention that there is a washer and dryer too, because even on vacation, you may still have to do laundry!

About Robyn Adams

My name is Robyn and I am the owner of Casa Elena. I grew up in Taos, moved away for many years and have returned to retire here. This is my family's property and I am excited to share it with you. My mother (Helen or Elena in Spanish) built both houses on the property and they have been a part of my family since 1961 (the main house) and 1989 the guest house (Casa Elena). I am so excited to share this lovely property with you!

Robyn Adams purchased this house in 1989
Why Robyn Adams chose Taos

Since it was first built, Casa Elena has been a guesthouse for family and friends but we decided to share this lovely house and amazing unobstructed view with you. Though we have only been a vacation rental a short time, we are no strangers to managing vacation rentals. We managed two VERY successful rentals in San Diego and know how to take of you!

What makes this house unique

Authentic adobe home. excellent view, private, close to everything, cozy, fireplace, local artwork... we're far enough away to give you privacy and close enough to assist you if you need anything!

Ranchos de Taos is just five miles south of the Taos Plaza. It's part of a greenbelt of Taos where there are more trees and greenery than many parts of Taos. With a killer view of the Mountain you are just minutes away from just about everything. Taos is famous for many things. The Pueblo, Art, Skiing, Movie Stars, Music, white water rafting, hot air ballooning, the Gorge Bridge. My favorite is San Geronimo Day at the Pueblo. Enjoy authentic Indian dancing, foot races, food, amazing vendors, the clowns and of course, the pole climb. Please remember, this and all Pueblo ceremonies are just that. They are traditional ceremonies that they invite the public to attend and they follow their own schedule. Come prepared with chairs (provided by Casa Elena), maybe an umbrella, time and lots of water. Other great events in Taos are The Taos Hot Air Balloon Rally, The Wool Festival, The Fiestas, World Class Skiing at Taos Ski Valley, Christmas Eve at the Pueblo, amazing museums and shopping and of course, my favorite place to eat for authentic New Mexican cuisine, El Taoseno or Ricky's Cafe. The Gorge Bridge is a must see for everyone. And there are some really terrific vendors there too. Richard and Jerry Mirabal from the Pueblo sell jewelry out there and I love their stuff. The Enchanted Circle which takes you up Taos Canyon to Angel Fire and Eagle Nest (giving you a chance to see the back side of Taos Mountain and the highest peak in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak) and then on to Red River, Questa and back to Taos is just that, Enchanting. The fall colors are to die for! There is nothing prettier than an Aspen grove in the fall.

Notes: Pets are loved at Casa Elena. We just ask that they be crated or kenneled while you are away enjoying the day in Taos. We can provide a large open air crate if needed or they can be left in the fence back yard. Because this is an adobe house with flagstone floors and because we ask out guests not to allow their pets on the furniture, which they are so good about doing, Casa Elena is a very low allergen environment. And there are NO fleas in Taos! Honest.

We had such a great time at Casa Elena for spring break. The location was very nice---out a bit from town on a farm. The home was just as described, clean, cozy, and comfortable. We lacked for nothing. The view of the mountain was spectacular. We will sure stay here again.

What a house!

Wow! Views, solitude, easy access to town and the ski valley, and of course, our wonderful hosts, Joe and Robyn!! I was looking for that perfect balance where comfort, style, and location met to create a unique Taos experience. Well, we found it in Casa Elena. The house feels isolated but with our hosts always at arms length, always willing to go above and beyond. Every day when returning from the ski valley, tired and chilled, Robyn had a fire going for us when we walked through the door. I don’t know of any other house I’ve rented in the past where that level of service was provided. The finish work and architectural style gave us that unique northern New Mexico experience that we were craving. And we couldn't beat the price... such a bargain! Thank you so much Robyn and Joe!!! We will be back!!!

The Perfect Taos Get-Away! Beautiful and Cozy!

Submitted: February 28, 2013 Stayed: February 2013
Casa Elena is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation at Taos. Six of us stayed at Casa Elena for our President's Day weekend Taos ski vacation. The home is beautiful with lots of local Taos flavor, situated in a more remote part of town that gives privacy and beautiful views. The living room and kitchen area are perfectly arranged to create a cozy and comfortable environment for bigger groups and just relaxing by the fireplace. There was ample sleeping space for everyone and the beds were all very comfortable. The owners are friendly and available to help with anything that's needed. We loved our stay and we're sure anyone else will too.
Owner's Response: Thanks so much Samantha!

My family and I stayed at Casa Elena for our ski trip this winter. We enjoyed everything about our vacation. The home was very clean and accommodating. The kitchen was well equipped and the perfect size for us. My children stayed in the loft and loved it! There was a wonderful fireplace we really enjoyed and every detail was covered. The owners were very friendly and checked on us each day. We will definately be back to Casa Elena next year!

We were looking for a cozy place to stay for a holiday getaway and this place did not disappoint. The location is very close to Taos and it is quick to get anywhere you want. The owners are very nice people and made sure we had everything we needed. The price was very reasonable for the area. I would definitely stay there again!
