The elegant open design plan where we can enjoy the antique carving of the walls, and the conveniences of a contemporary home well suited to our beachfront location. Villa Joglo comprising 557 m2 roofed space including attached spa area. The second villa, called Villa Yoga Bale with 2 bedrooms has a total living area of 225m2. It's living area designed so it can serve as a small performance space and yoga pavilion. Yoga Bale architecture weds elements of the traditional and the modern, combining Javanese woodwork and Balinese thatching with western amenities to create a comfortable, natural flow. Swimming and snorkeling is off our private beach, boats are waiting to be used.
About Citakara Sari: Citakara Sari is translated as “The Essence of Arts.” The richness of Balinese arts is what drew us to this unique land in the first place. Here, artists, musicians, dancers, and creative people of all sorts are held in highest regard, and in most instances entire communities will take part in performances, as musicians in the Gamelan orchestra, as actors, dancers, singers, puppeteers, or even in combinations of several different capacities. Every aspect of Balinese culture, from government functions to religious ceremonies, is a creative endeavor. This vibrant and lively approach to life has informed the concept and design of Citakara Sari Villa.
Citakara Sari Villa was designed to wed elements of the traditional and the modern, combining Javanese woodwork and Balinese thatching with western amenities create a comfortable, natural flow. And behind it all, the ocean, framed by one of the only white-sand beaches to be found in Candi Dasa.

Villa Yoga Bale: Our original intention was to designate the Yoga Bale for yoga sessions. Truly, the soothing warmth of the polished granite floor invites you to stretch. Now the grandiose (80m2 with over 7m high ceiling) semi-open living space is a multifunctional area for dining, relaxing, playing games, watching the waterfall built out of rough marble, hosting a small performance , and , of course, yoga. Antique Javanese gebyok walls are united with large panes of glass to create a traditional/contemporary blend in a fully air conditioned downstairs bedroom. The bedroom is large enough to hold a king size bed and a double bed (both antique from the island of Madura), a writing table, chairs, and armoire for clothes. Attached to the bedroom is a semi-open 30m2 bathroom with a room enough for two hand made terrazzo bathtub. Flowers and green trees growing in the bathroom make you feel like you are outside. The upstairs bedroom (36m2) with vaulted alang-alang ceiling has the best view of the ocean.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Hello, Yuri. I just wanted to let you know that we had a terrific stay at your villa, and want to once again thank Ayu, Made and the other staff for their great help, and to you for outstanding organization. We are already tentatively planning for our next visit in the spring or early summer (which is much easier for us to do now since we are based in Bangkok). We look forward to seeing you again soon!
It is a great alternative to Bali's overcrowded South. Incredible nature, mountains surroundings, safe ocean, great for boat activities, snorkeling and sailing. New highway makes our place very accessible, it takes only 50 min to get to Sanur these days. Plus, we like it quiet. Like many creative people we need the sound of the wave and the wind to concentrate on our work.
Our villas are built in Traditional Indonesian style with contemporary twists at the palm fringed beach overlooking coral reefed lagoon outside the town of Candidasa.
You will love an oasis of calm and comfort decorated with cleverly chosen local antiques, artwork and crafts you’ll want to take home with you.
All meals can be catered at the villa or you can eat out in a wide variety of local restaurants, but with kids in tow it’s a good idea to stock up on snacks and favorite foods for light lunches. Groceries can be ordered in for you, or have the driver take you to a supermarket in one of the larger towns at the beginning of your stay to stock up on necessities. There is a German baker in the local town for fresh bread and rolls.
Wonderful massages can be booked in the spa courtyard, private yoga sessions or tennis lessons can be arranged on request.
Two villas share the grounds, sleeping 10-12 people altogether. Joglo is the larger villa and was built using antique carved wooden walls and ceiling from a traditional Javanese house. Intricate carved wood delights the eye at every turn and is combined with wide glass doors on two sides to create an interior that is at once rooted in island tradition and modern and light filled. Beautifully decorated with a mixture of contemporary artworks and quirky traditional craft, every piece of furniture is individual, carefully chosen and comfortable as well as beautiful.
Floors are smooth local stone tiles, tactile and pleasing to bare feet – there is no reason to wear shoes at all at the villa, inside or out as the grass lawns are soft as deep pile carpet.
Upstairs in Villa Joglo the stunning carved ceiling is the architectural focus. The three bedrooms are divided by sliding wood and glass panelling doors, curtained at night, so that each room can enjoy the ceiling. This makes for a slight lack of privacy – no problem if one family is sharing, as we were, but perhaps not ideal for two couples. Our kids loved the high carved four posters, almost like rooms within rooms. There are two beautifully fitted bathrooms with soft fluffy towels, huge granite tubs and stone sinks. All three rooms open onto a wide wrap-around balcony with an upstairs sitting area and stunning views through the palms to the sea and the island of Nusa Penida.
Balinese thatched villa Yoga Bale has two large bedrooms and its own spacious open living room with soaring thatch ceiling. It is designed for island living with two sides open to the garden, closed in only by rattan blinds when windy and at night. The downstairs family bedroom with two large carved wood beds and plenty of space for a cot is the room. The two bathrooms are open air, like small private courtyards with plants and greenery.
Beautiful carved wooden beds, soft linen sheets and well chosen pillows make for comfort in both villas.
