A building contractor for most of my adult life, I now find myself semi-retired and able to enjoy some travel and freedom. My vacation rental business fits perfectly into my lifestyle, because it puts me in contact with others who like to explore new places and have the resources of time and money to follow through.. I also know from my travels what it is like to get to a destination and to have your pre-arranged accommodations wind up being a catastrophe... so my vacation rentals, while all being very different in personality and location, all provide a great value and are exactly as advertised...
Michael Green purchased this house in 1947
My father built the original house in 1947, and I bought it from my mother about 10 years ago as my primary residence when I move to Pennsylvania from Annapolis, Maryland after a long stint in the construction business there. I love this house with all my heart, and I have made major changes throughout the years, both outside and in. In the pictures you can see the huge addition that I built which contains my wood shop and below that a garage. However I was bitten by the travel bug a few years ago and so it seemed a better idea to rent the house to others who may also enjoy the incredible vibe the place has to offer.. so I get the best of both worlds.. when the house is not occupied I still get use of it, and I also get to share my love for the place with others. Now it all makes sense.
Where to begin? Where can you find a house with so much charm, surrounded by 9 acres of privately owned nature, with not just one but two spring fed mountain streams within a stones throw of the house, and yet still just 5 minutes outside of the quaint town of Palmerton where you can get every service you need for your time away. Add to this a fire pit which is only 25 feet from the stream, a nature trail, a huge wrap around porch with a gas grill... this house would be impossible to duplicate in today's market.
Last year, I brought my family here for a weekend ski trip and loved the accommodations so much that it was our first choice for a return trip this year. As usual, Michael does an excellent job of maintaining the property. There are instructions and notes left in all the right places so you never feel lost in the house. It has all the accommodations a family would need to really settle in and enjoy their vacation. On top of that, it's clear that Michael has been reinvesting into the house as the first floor bathroom has been beautifully redone.
I can't recommend the house enough. The house itself is very cozy and Michael is very professional. We'll certainly be back a 3rd time!
As always the house was immaculate and everything we needed for a great stay. The family now wants to try a summer stay to hike , raft and check out the new air park at Blue Mountain
We had a great weekend. The house is awesome! It has everything you could need and more. It was immaculate, and super cozy. They have done a great job at covering all bases to make this a true 'home away from home'. We can't wait to come back. Although we were there in the wintertime all agreeded that is would be a great house to rent any season. Blue mountain was a great family mountain, and the tubing experience was a blast...I highly reccommend it! Thanks for a great place to stay!
Once again, my family and I arrived to an immaculately prepared property. We especially love using the huge fire pit which allows us to enjoy the surrounding sounds and sights of nature - especially the roaring creek sounds, even though it's winter. The kitchen and the superb BBQ grill made making and eating meals together another delightful part of our stay.
This house was fantastic and had everything someone who is trying to get away from the craziness of the world would like to enjoy. It is quiet and beautiful and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away.
We were overly impressed with the property, grounds and service. It was an excellent location for our small wedding with a huge front lawn, spacious kitchen, two fridges, lazy walking path, and most of all the campfire ring with provided kindling and fire wood. Everything was set up when we got there and notes made it easy to make use of every feature I the house. We especially liked the surround sound music and extra air mattresses and bedding. The wrap around porch was a good safety net in case it rained and can hold 15-20 people comfortably. The bonus was all the interesting decor. you saw something new every time you looked around. my particular favorite was the Abraham Lincoln in an airplane wind ornament. Michael was excellent and attended to every need. He was courteous, gracious, and answered emails in less than 10 minutes. He even helped us reclaim lost property.
This home is located just 5 minutes from the Base lodge of Blue Mountain, and 20 minutes from Downtown Jim Thorpe, on 9 wooded acres with a nice fire pit, plenty of parking.
