Morristown Cottage Rental Photos and Description
3 Bedroom Home On 55 Private Acres
This is our country home, which we occasionally rent to special guests... perhaps you're one!
For this reason, please note that Roaring Brook is NOT available for weekend or 3-4 night rentals. It is only available for MINIMUM stays of one week or more.
Since we've had bad experiences in the past, we no longer accept small children or teen-agers. But pets are fine, and will have a wonderful time off-leash, since the entrance is a long way away from the house.
Roaring Brook has one bedroom with a queen bed, one with a double and one with two single beds. Living room upstairs; finished basement downstairs. Central air conditioning, WiFi, central heating with underfloor heat in the living room and a wood-burning fireplace insert. (We've already split the wood for you.) Of course there's a TV - a large flatscreen with a zillion channels plus lots of DVDs. And a stereo and boom box radio. And of course there's a washing machine and dryer in the basement. And a security system.
The house has extremely large windows (unusual for Vermont), that bring the surrounding forest and gardens in. There's also a mature hidden perennial garden. You can't see your neighbors (where are they?). We've left you our mountain bikes, cross-country skis and snowshoes.

About Karen Coshof
We are Canadian documentary film-makers and TV producers .We bought this place about 20 years ago to get away from our life in Montreal, and come down every weekend (except when you're here!).
Karen Coshof purchased this cottage in 1990
Why Karen Coshof chose Morristown
If you want action, and have to be right by Mt. Mansfield, Roaring Brook is not for you. If you - like us - want to be part of the natural world, walk the woods, hike and bike, this is heaven.
The house had this name when we bought it - and you'll understand why when Kenfield Brook roars through the Gorge just down the hill.
Our 55 acres are managed through conservation forestry as a wildlife habitat; we've got deer, a large family of wild turkeys, fox, various small varmints, and a once-a-year moose who wanders through. Not to mention all kinds of birds.
What's great about the place is that although it feels almost isolated, it's less than 5 minutes to a gourmet country store with superb wines, outstanding meat and lots of local goodies. And you're about 7 minutes (really) from Morrisville's two big supermarkets, a hospital, stores, gas stations - whatever you need.
Or drive 10 minutes down the road and you're in Stowe, surrounded by the best restaurants in the northeast, with skiing on Mt. Mansfield and all the craft and gift shops you could want.
What makes this cottage unique
It's the perfect location. Roaring Brook isn't just a nice house on a few acres (as so many Vermont rentals are); it's in its own completely private 55 acre world, with a remarkable listed gorge and mature forest surrounding it.
