Welcome to your sunny, stylish home in the heart of Hollywood. You can walk to theatres, restaurants, clubs, and classic landmarks like the Hollywood Bowl, Kodak Theater, and Magic Castle from this gorgeous chateau duplex 1-Bedroom apartment in historic Hollywood Heights.
This large, 1925 house has been tastefully divided into three separate, private apartments, one of which we are offering as a furnished 1BR getaway. Nestled in the back of a tree-lined cul de sac, you’ll find it has a surprisingly quiet, natural feel for its central, Hollywood Hills location. Incredibly convenient if you are visiting or working in Burbank, Studio City, or NoHo, and a quick ride to downtown too.
The space itself is amazing. The living room has an almost cathedral-like feel – huge and sunny with a double-height barrel ceiling, giant windows and hardwood floors. On clear days (which is almost every day in Southern California!), sunlight floods the room and makes for a truly wonderful place to relax or tweak your screenplay. The apartment is stylishly furnished and includes both wireless internet and a 37” LCD HDTV flat panel TV and DVD player. The open kitchen has everything you need to cook at home – including a microwave, four-burner gas stove, coffeemaker and toaster – and enjoy your meal at the adjacent dining table with seating for four.
In the bedroom you’ll find a new, queen-sized bed with fresh cotton sheets and a fluffy comforter. The elegant, modern Design Within Reach couch in the living room also folds down into a bed, which can sleep two additional guests.
We went the extra mile to add a few reflections of our own passions (design, film, literature, music) so you’ll find nice touches like framed Nama Rococo French Dot Wall Paper and Blik wall murals in addition to selection of well-chosen books, films, and music to help you feel inspired.
Bring your morning cup of coffee out onto the large patio, surrounded by greenery.
An off-street parking space is included (though be aware that a large truck or large SUV may not fit easily in the spot, in which case we can lend you a parking pass that will allow you to park on the street in front) .
No smoking in the unit – please keep it limited to outside onto the patio.
Do note that there is a flight of stairs from the driveway up to the front door of the house, and a small set (7 stairs) within the apartment.
Please also note that Los Angeles Hotel Tax (TOT) of 14% is applicable on all stays of 30 days or less. Stays of 31 days or longer are NOT subject to tax.
We (the owners) live in a separate apartment in another part of the house, and are happy to help with directions or suggestions to make your stay a great one. Oh, and did we mention the amazing location?

We are a writer and a composer who have lived in LA for a combined 26 years, so we can tell you everything from the best place to get a Thai massage to our favorite secret beach (shhh!). We love to travel, and prefer to stay in homes rather than hotels - so we enjoy creating a hospitable place for you to stay.
Jamie purchased this apartment in 2003
We live here too, and we love it. A quiet oasis, even as you are in the middle of - and close to - everything.
We are a short walk away from the Kodak Theater - home of the Academy Awards - so if you are nominated, you can skip the limo logjam and walk :)
Good location north of downtown LA for accessing Santa Monica, Venice, Pasadena, and all points north of downtown LA. Close to Beverly Hills, Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Bowl, Sunset Strip, etc. As noted, the apartment is in an older (circa 1920-1930) house in the Hollywood Hills area and has a nice outdoor area in which to sit for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was adequate. One caveat: the air conditioning consisted of one "portable" unit (not really portable because it was vented through a window in the living room and could not be moved, and one had to drain the water dehumidified from the air every few hours after the water holding tank filled up), so if you're used to a really cool inside environment you might find this inconvenient. Having said that, however, we - being used to a very cool interior temperature - dealt with it with minimal inconvenience and made use of an oscillating fan in the bedroom to help keep us cool at night. The owners were great...there when we arrived...unobtrusive...easy to talk to, etc. I would stay there again.
We stayed at this location at the end of our California holiday, and found it very spacious, very friendly (we met Jamie and her rescued dog Birdie too) and relaxed.
Given how close Hollywood Blvd. or the 101 freeway in theory is, the area is quiet! And we could park at the property too.
A short walk away from Hollywood Blvd. - and the (Tourist trap!) walk of fame - or a (longer) walk to Sunset Blvd. (we were also given some great dining tips from Jamie - the Loteria mexican on Hollywood for example), or a short car drive from the film studios (we enjoyed Universal Studios during our stay) and many other sights in the area.
We would like to stay here again!
We have stayed in many VRBO units throughout the country over the years; this by far was our favorite. Such a pretty place inside and out. We know L.A. well, and this is in the perfect location. From the house, you can walk all around the beautiful neighborhood, or just stay put and relax in this home away from home. It's not far from Hollywood strip and the Hollywood bowl, but feels a world away from the city. It was a pleasure to meet the owners and their cutest little boy that was ever created. They have a gem here and you will not be disappointed calling it yours while on vacation.
My friend and I spent a week at this lovely apartment in the Hollywood Hills and cannot say enough good things about it. Jamie & James, the property owners, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful before, during and after our stay. It's a great location - in walking distance to so many great places in West Hollywood. I will definitely try and book this property again on my next trip to LA. We had a wonderful time.
Staying here was so special. We stayed for six weeks and hated having to leave. A morning cup of coffee out on one of the patios, surrounded by the tops of beautiful homes, rose bushes, trees and a lovely silence was always the perfect way to start the day. The location is fantastic- just minutes from North Hollywood, Universal and Burbank on one side and just minutes from the heart of Hollywood on the other. Yet, it is peaceful and tranquil.
The loft-like room, with very tall ceilings and beautiful French-door style windows that open to a bright, beautiful view- make you feel like you are in Europe. The bedroom and bathroom are both located 7 stairs up- making it feel as though they are much more separated than they actually are.
The owners are absolutely wonderful. When we arrived there was a big bowl of oranges and a printed list to everything you might need to ask or know. They are there if you need anything at all- extremely helpful and welcoming.
I highly recommend staying here- and personally, can’t wait to go back! It makes you feel like you are on a wonderful vacation, but so comfortable and safe- a real home.
location was great, owners friendly and helpful, parking a little tricky getting out... Apartment was clean, nicely decorated and pleasant space, but looking shabby around the edges (worn kitchen cabinets, couch, tiny shower with stains, walls scuffed). However, the beds were comfortable and we slept well.
