Located in Central Austin, Hyde Park sits between 38th and 51st between Red River Street (where you can access UT, UT stadium, or get to downtown) and Guadalupe (which is better known as “The Drag” near UT campus). It is situated 2.3 miles north of the University of Texas and Texas Memorial Stadium, 2.8 miles from downtown, and borders the neighborhoods of Hancock and North Loop.
Hyde Park traces its origins back to 1891 and is considered to be Austin's first suburb. Here, we take pride in the equal blend of sturdily built historic homes and college life, lush landscaping, and all things local. Because of this, you can expect to be able to walk to: Shipe Park, Hyde Park Bar & Grill, Antonelli’s Cheese Shop, Quack’s Café & Bakery, Dolcé Vita Café (food and gelatos), Mother’s (vegetarian) restaurant, Julio’s Restaurant, Fresh Plus grocers, a coin laundry, and Daily Juice.
Prime Austinite shopping is only a 5 minute drive away. 'The Drag' is a tourist favorite, off Guadalupe Street (and about 3 miles south, around Dean Keaton). Here, you'll find Urban Outfitters, Buffalo Exchange, Toy Joy, and so much more.
No car, or no desire to drive? Austin's Capital Metro bus can take you there. The bus stop is only 30 paces from your front door. Use the shuttle to get back and forth to all those big Austin events! 15 minute bus ride in and out of downtown.
Also, not all visits are for fun and games. If you need to be near:
- Dell Children's Hospital: 1.7 miles (northeast bound)
- St. David's Hospital: 1.9 miles (south bound)
- Brackenridge Hospital: 3.2 miles (south bound)
