This is a one bedroom located in a 17th century building on Rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie in the Marais district. It is only a block from the Beaubourg-Pompidou Center and the Hotel de Ville, a few blocks from the Latin Quartier and the Ile Saint Louis, as well as the Place des Vosges, and the Bastille.
This part of the Marais is a cozy neighborhood. Rue Rambuteau has great produce, a wonderful cheese shop, a great Italian restaurant with takeout, a fishmonger, a butcher, produce and a few charcuteries. Rue des Archives and Rue Vieille du Temple have everything you need, from cafes, wine stores, bars and restaurants. There is also a market on Wednesday and Saturday at Place de la Mairie du 4eme. Its very close to rue des Rosiers, a Paris Jewish neighborhoods with a lot of great delicatessen, bakeries and kosher food. Rue des Francs Bourgeois is full of great boutiques. There is an international bookstore on the corner; a great stop for a newspaper before sitting down at one of the numerous cafes.
The apartment is up just one flight of stairs on the 2nd floor (no elevator). The entrance is a small vestibule with water closet (toilet) on the immediate left. Ahead is the kitchen area, which includes an oven, a two burner electric stove, fridge and all the utensils needed to prepare a meal. Next is the bathroom, with a full bathtub and shower. This area is separated from the rest of the apartment by double French doors. The sitting area has a sofa, two chairs, a coffee table, and an ornamental antique fireplace (non-operational). Adjacent to the seating area is the queen bed with two bedside tables and reading lamps. The apartment has a TV, a stereo, and it features three large windows looking on to a quiet, landscaped courtyard.
Right in the heart of the Marais, this apartment gave us the luxury of stepping into a vibrant world the minute we walked out the building door, yet also gave us a cozy nest to huddle into and take quiet time.
Although it's small - more of a studio than a 1-bedroom - the layout afforded us both privacy and space when we wanted it. The kitchen was well equipped, the bed and pillows super comfortable, and selection of music expansive (no dock to play our own music, which didn't really matter to us).
All in all, wonderful place. We would both stay here again. Oh, best part: city bicycle share was right around the corner. We used those bicycles everyday to tear through the city. It's worth figuring out how to use them!
We stayed at the very well appointed apartment for six nights in a very cold and rainy May. The apartment is really central, very very well appointed, clean and ideal for self-catering - it's better equipped than our own kitchen. We did walk everywhere because it was just so easy to wander the streets and experience Paris, even venturing as far as Montmartre which is an hour's walk away. Despite being in a very busy part of the city the apartment is very quiet. It is small but ideal for just two people, we never used the internet or tv as we wanted to get away from everything. A visit to Versailles was a highlight but make sure you go to the suburban line for tickets not the mainline as we did - it saves a lot of time, the train terminates at the village of Versailles and is a short walk from the train station. The botanic gardens in 5th arondissment are also worth a visit. We had a wonderful time and have already recommended this apartment to friends. We will definitely go again.
It was easy for us to see the highlights of Paris from this conveniently located charming apartment in the Marais. It had everything we needed and was quiet and comfortable. We loved unwinding there each evening after sightseeing.
We were delighted with our stay in this spacious and elegant studio. It had easy access being a one flight walk-up, perfectly located in the heart of the Marais with its exciting shops, cafes and restaurants. Also, the studio was quiet and peaceful; a great place to relax after a busy day! It was very clean, comfortably furnished and had an excellent large queen sized bed with lovely soft pillows and duvet. We particularly appreciated the natural light from the large windows which looked out onto a plant filled outdoor area. The marble fireplace was beautiful too. We would certainly like to stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend this studio.
This studio flat is marvelous. It is very clean and quiet with a courtyard view, sunny, and requires climbing only one flight of stairs. It is centrally located just 3 blocks from both Notre Dame and the Centre Pompidou and yet is surrounded by unique little shops. The manager, Ken, was very professional. He met us at the door on our arrival and gave us a good tour of the flat. The bed is comfortable. The pictures are very accurate. We would definitely stay here again. Try the bakery across the street!
