This was a wonderful, quiet location for our Christmas in Austin. It slept our family of four adults comfortably. The Kerig provided us with coffee every morning including a hefty coffee supply for our five day stay. The two beds were extremely comfortable with cozy blankets and comforters. We did not do any cooking but the kitchen appeared to be well stocked with all the necessary supplies. The house was very clean and the photos on VRBO as well as the list of ameneties reflected the property accurately. Leslie provided literature about places to explore including her favorite recommendations for dining, musical entertainment and other places of interest. The location allowed us to explore the trendy and retro SoCo area. We took lengthy walks to downtown and took the bus in which the bus stop was about a block away. The Alamo Draft house was a unique way to watch a movie while dining- burgers, pizza and shakes were excellent. Our barbeque interests took us to Stubb's and Lambert's. Lambert's was our favorite. We hiked to Franklin's but the wait was unbelievable;you need to get there right when it opens. Drinks at Bar Congress were a treat; Hey Cupcake food truck satisfied our evening sweet tooths; Jo's coffee- nice spot to sit and enjoy the hussle and bussle of SoCo; ,6th street-lots of activity and busy;Continental Club- great for music; lots of unique shops up and down South Congress; the capital building beautiful to see;we had Christmas dinner at Threadgill's because it was the only place open that we could find other than hotel dining. It had good southern cooking but woud not recommend it as a destination. The weather ranged from mid 60s to high 40s during the day. It became quite cold at night. Even though there was adequate heating in the house, the front living room became cold. It is an older house with a lot of charm and possibly not as well insulated. This was the only discomfort of our stay. Leslie was great to deal with and very helpful before we arrived. I would highly recommend the "violet cottage."
