Great communication with the owner who made it easy for us to arrive and get in without any problem at all. It snowed overnight the night we arrived which transformed the whole area into a magical winterland. Having the parking permit meant we could leave the car on the street. Navy yard metro is the closest metro and travel to the tourist sites was easy. On the way home we'd get off at waterfront and go into the Safeway on the way home. (Thanks for the suggestion of the safeway card, it made a huge savings difference:) We purchased metro tickets for each person and loaded them with $20 which meant you weren't always needing to top up for trips. The whole apartment was beautifully clean, plenty of linen and towels and the rooms were comfortable, the kitchen awesome and great washing machine and dryer. My son appreciated the comfort of the pull-out in the lounge area. The bathroom is beautifully appointed. Altogether a very comfortable apartment for a stay. Thank you

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I did worry that the snow may have ruined your visit, especially since it also turned quite cold.
I hope you will come back in the summer, but then we would probably have one of our terrible heat waves.
This apartment was the perfect place to stay while we visited DC. It was convenient to the metro and we always felt safe walking. We had our car and found there was always parking available when we needed it. The parking permit was a nice bonus! The apartment had everything we needed. One downside for us was the bathroom design. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids, 10 and under. The open shower design was not perfect for us as it was hard for our kids and it also made it impossible for more than 1 person to use the bathroom without sacrificing all privacy. This is not a criticism of the apartment, it was just as described, but rather a note for other families that may be considering the apartment. It would have been nice on mornings we were in a hurry to have multiple people using the bathroom. However, it would not stop me from renting the place again. I did find that on several nights we heard some loud noises from the upstairs neighbor late in the evening (after 11). Other than that, the apartment worked out great. It certainly made me realize that this is the way to go for future trips. No more hotels for us! We also made use of the washer and dryer! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing my property and taking the time to provide a review. I must confess I am somewhat taken back by the bathroom comments as it was design to create an openness and brightness that show case the effort to preserve the exposed brick rather than for a dormitory multiple persons’ usage. Although the property is not my primary residence, I stayed there during your visit. The noise you heard after 11:00 was a bag that I accidentally dropped that included a can. While we installed sound proof subflooring, impact sounds still occur. I am sorry that this disturbed you, but I hope my guests realize that they are in a home and that the residents have a life and are human too. Although I could hear the children running, screaming, and jumping, I understood that they were kids, and that happens with some kids. I, as the regular residents upstairs, do not wear shoes in the house and we have checked to make sure that the TV is at a level that will not be heard downstairs at any time. However, they deserve a life also.
Had a great 5 day holiday in late August. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a great location in a transitional neighborhood. Not a large amount of bars/ restaurants in close proximity, but everything you would want or need is easily accessible via metro. Owner provides great communication and provides guests with whatever they need for a comfortable stay. The owners daughter was very helpful and I would highly recommend this property to anybody considering staying in the city.

Had a fantastic 4 day break - as other reviewers mention, the area is clearly in transition (upwards) but it felt safe and secure and is easily walkable to the City. The Metro is close by if you don't fancy the walk and a cab from the City only cost us $10. The apartment is well appointed and nicely laid out. Shame the baseball wasn't on when we were there but One Direction were on our last night so our 15 year old daughter was happy! Great communication before, during and after rental - thanks.
Great property, close to Nationals Park. You can tell this is an area in transition. Very clean and had all the basic needs us low maintenance travelers needed. If doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some people need, but for the price, this place is a steal. Short walk to grocery, which shares the same locale as metro stop. One night we actually walked from Capitol Hill home, about 1 mile. Not a large amount of bars/ restaurants in close proximity, but everything you would want or need is easily accessible via metro. Owner provides great communication and provides guest with whatever they need for a comfortable stay. 3 large men were comfortably housed.

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing my property and for taking the time to review it. On the homeaway.com site the pictures are accurate depiction of the property. As of March this year, nearly all of the restaurants and bars have been leveled to begin new construct that will include 20 restaurants, bars and cafes within walking distance of the property. As a retired professor, I keep the rent low with the hope that it will enable families to bring their children to DC.
We stayed in this property for 6 days in early June 2014. There were 5 of us and we fit fairly well into the space. The only drawbacks were that the bathroom door had difficulty locking, there is a moderate amount of sound transmission from other spaces nearby and we had 2 incidents while shopping nearby. In regards to our safety, we absolutely felt safe but were approached at the 7-11 nearby twice for money and one time the person was quite aggressive. There is a police substation right nearby and the police were onsite in a matter of 1 minute. Good things are a great location with regards to 2 metro stops very close by, the property was stocked with anything and everything you could imagine to make your stay wonderful and the owner is quite thoughtful of making you feel welcome! Thanks for everything!

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing my property and for providing feedback. We checked the bathroom door and found that someway, it is off its track. The repair requires tearing out the drywall to get to it. Thanks for letting me know so that we can get it repaired. I hope no one's privacy was invaded due to the inconvenience of the lock. I am so sorry you encountered a problem at the 7-11 , Unfortunately, there are many homeless people in DC, many of whom are mentally ill. Thus, the begging and hostility are common regardless of where you are in DC. My daughter has lived on the block for more than 10 years and has never had a problem--but she is not a 7-11 patron.
