This townhouse is nicely decorated and well stocked. So many extras that you might not expect such as Qtips and most everything you could possibly need in the way of hygiene. The kitchen is so well equipped right down to catsup, mustard, syrup, and even mayo. Every herb and spice is there as is laundry detergent. But what we really wouldn't have expected and really needed were umbrellas!!
The rental was very nice, updated and clean. Enjoyed using the Safeway card for discounts at the grocery store. Parking on the street was never an issue. The grocery store and Metro are about a 10 minute walk. The surrounding areas are a little sketchy at night but I didn't feel unsafe. We walked to the Gordon Biersch restaurant a couple times and enjoyed a nice meal and drinks. Overall we enjoyed our home away from home and would stay here again. Thanks!
Great communication with the owner who made it easy for us to arrive and get in without any problem at all. It snowed overnight the night we arrived which transformed the whole area into a magical winterland. Having the parking permit meant we could leave the car on the street. Navy yard metro is the closest metro and travel to the tourist sites was easy. On the way home we'd get off at waterfront and go into the Safeway on the way home. (Thanks for the suggestion of the safeway card, it made a huge savings difference:) We purchased metro tickets for each person and loaded them with $20 which meant you weren't always needing to top up for trips. The whole apartment was beautifully clean, plenty of linen and towels and the rooms were comfortable, the kitchen awesome and great washing machine and dryer. My son appreciated the comfort of the pull-out in the lounge area. The bathroom is beautifully appointed. Altogether a very comfortable apartment for a stay. Thank you
This apartment was the perfect place to stay while we visited DC. It was convenient to the metro and we always felt safe walking. We had our car and found there was always parking available when we needed it. The parking permit was a nice bonus! The apartment had everything we needed. One downside for us was the bathroom design. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids, 10 and under. The open shower design was not perfect for us as it was hard for our kids and it also made it impossible for more than 1 person to use the bathroom without sacrificing all privacy. This is not a criticism of the apartment, it was just as described, but rather a note for other families that may be considering the apartment. It would have been nice on mornings we were in a hurry to have multiple people using the bathroom. However, it would not stop me from renting the place again. I did find that on several nights we heard some loud noises from the upstairs neighbor late in the evening (after 11). Other than that, the apartment worked out great. It certainly made me realize that this is the way to go for future trips. No more hotels for us! We also made use of the washer and dryer! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Had a great 5 day holiday in late August.
As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a great location in a transitional neighborhood.
Not a large amount of bars/ restaurants in close proximity, but everything you would want or need is easily accessible via metro. Owner provides great communication and provides guests with whatever they need for a comfortable stay.
The owners daughter was very helpful and I would highly recommend this property to anybody considering staying in the city.
Had a fantastic 4 day break - as other reviewers mention, the area is clearly in transition (upwards) but it felt safe and secure and is easily walkable to the City. The Metro is close by if you don't fancy the walk and a cab from the City only cost us $10. The apartment is well appointed and nicely laid out. Shame the baseball wasn't on when we were there but One Direction were on our last night so our 15 year old daughter was happy! Great communication before, during and after rental - thanks.
