Our lovely home is a remodeled 19th century, attached farmhouse with all the amenities, including a spacious kitchen and dining area and two bathrooms (one shower-bath, one shower). Living room has a quaint fireplace and opens onto a balcony with beautiful mountain and lake views. A large patio and spacious garden lie beyond. Lake Annecy is only a few minutes away by bicycle along with Sevrier and Saint Jorioz beaches close at hand too. Annecy's old town is 20 minutes by bike or less - depending on your fitness!
Ana and Rusty Barber both live in Washington, DC. Ana is from Argentina and Rusty is a native of New England. Owned by Rusty and his brother, Ted, the Sevrier farmhouse has become a treasured retreat that we hate to leave and can't wait to get back to.
When Rusty and Ted stumbled on this quiet farmhouse at the end of a cul-de-sac on the very last day of a two-week search, they knew they'd found their idyll. Ted had fallen in love with Lake Annecy during a college summer spent studying French in nearby Talloires. He never imagined that one day he'd be a resident in such a stunning part of the world.
We were looking for a home with traditional Savoyard charm, close to the lake and Annecy but far enough from the city to escape the tourist traffic during high season. We were taken with the classic wood crossbeams and original stone facing. A balcony affords spectacular views of the mountains that surround Lake Annecy.
Our 19th Century stone farmhouse is nestled in the quiet neighborhood of Cessenaz, only a 3-minute bike ride from beautiful Lake Annecy and 20 minutes by bike to Annecy city. Renowned for its stunning, turquoise lake and the surrounding Alps, our region is also abundant in history, hiking, outdoor markets, fine local cuisine, skiing and cultural activities of all sorts. We're less than an hour's drive from Geneva, Chamonix, Aix-les-Bains as well as several popular family ski resorts.
Ski areas within 45 minutes include La Clusaz, Saint-Jean de-Sixt, Le Grand-Bornand and Manigod.
