Imagine a retreat where you can enjoy a relaxing vacation in a luxurious setting…Cloud Nine…

Cloud Nine has a full unobstructed view of the Rum Point Beach Club. Our highly coveted location is superior to the locations of most other Island House units that face an overflow parking lot and the road. Guest reviews that rave about our location include, 'THE LOCATION: Perfect! this condo is situated perfectly. Step outside the front door, walk across the road (maybe 1 - 2 cars per day) and there you are at Rum Point Beach Club,' and 'The beach in the pictures is only about a 30 yard walk out the front door.”

Our 1,834 square foot townhome in Rum Point has been designed to treat you to a comfortable and memorable visit. Upon entering our townhome, you will be enveloped by superior accommodations. The townhome was renovated from top to bottom during the summer of 2012. It has been furnished with contemporary furniture and accessories to reflect the chic Caribbean style of Grand Cayman. The dining area is located in the center of the open space next to the kitchen. The living area offers plenty of seating with a full length sofa and love seat, a 39 inch HDTV with premium HD cable box, DVD player, movies, stereo with ipod/CD player and radio, soft lighting and accent wall with original art work. You will have access to two double and two single kayaks to tour the calm bay at your own pace. You will enjoy a fabulous nocturnal spectacle only seen in 11 other bioluminescent bays around the world. When the lights go down, the micro-organisms in the bioluminescent bay put on a fabulous show as visitors tour the bay. As you paddle through the water, the micro-organisms illuminate leaving a shiny silvery streak of water. Your paddle will take the form of a lightsaber as you slice through the night waters. The dock is open for fishing any time of day or night in the calm bay waters.

A few steps out your front door will find you at the renowned Rum Point Beach, the most picturesque beach in Grand Cayman. The shallow and clear waters and pink/white sand of Rum Point Beach make it ideal for swimming and offers some of the finest snorkeling in the Caribbean. Rum Point is located in a protected marine park, so grab your snorkeling gear and take in the vibrant views and abundant sea life along the reef just offshore. Adults and children alike will enjoy relaxing and playing in the clear, turquoise, shallow waters. Also at Rum Point, you will find the Red Sail Sports activity center, where you can book Sting Ray City trips as well as other excursions. A host of beach toys are available for rent, including jet skis, catamaran sailboat, banana boat, snorkeling gear and more. My husband and I have been married for 17 years. We have 2 boys, ages 10 and 14. We live in Houston, Texas. We enjoy getting away to our townhome at Rum Point as frequently as we can. Our kids enjoy telling their friends that in Grand Cayman their back yard is a bioluminescent bay and their front yard is a beach! We enjoy having friends and family visit so that we can show off our home away from home. We would love to share our island home with you while we are back in Houston, putting in time in the 'real world.'

Adela Parlette purchased this townhome in 2012

My husband and I had talked about buying a property in the Caribbean since our honeymoon. Everytime we would go on vacation to an island, that conversation would come back up. But, we never pulled the trigger. Back in July of 2007, my in-laws watched the kids for a week while my husband and I went on our first vacation by ourselves since the kids were born. We went to Grand Cayman and stayed on 7 Mile Beach. The beaches were stunning and the island was absolutely paradise. Beatiful views...warm water...laid-back island atmosphere.

Around the middle of the week, we decided to rent a car and drive over to Rum Point, which we had read about online. Now, I grew up in the Caribbean and we have traveled pretty extensively to various island destinations. I have seen my share of stunningly beautiful beaches. But, let me tell you...when we got out of the car and walked around the corner of the gift shop and saw the beach at Rum Point, we were absolutely awestruck by the beauty. We had a drink at the Wreck Bar and decided to walk out to the water. The water was perfectly calm and clear as a looking glass. We were able to walk out a couple hundred feet from the shore and the water was only waist high! We began to talk about how this would be such a perfect place to come with the kids. Shallow, calm water. Nice quiet, family atmosphere. To say the least, we fell in love with Rum Point and purchased a one bedroom condominium back in 2007.

Five years later, with a teenager in the family we have outgrown the one bedroom, but not the beauty of Rum Point. In summer of 2012 we found the perfect 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhome we call 'Cloud Nine.'

Cloud Nine offers the best of both worlds...the picturesque Rum Point Beach out your front door and a rare bioluminescent bay out your back door that you can explore on our kayaks. All the while you will find yourself in a warm, luxurious setting from which to enjoy a tropical paradise. Cloud Nine has a full unobstructed view of the Rum Point Beach Club. Our highly coveted location is superior to the locations of the other Island House units that face an overflow parking lot and the road. The Rum Point beach and waters are part of a government protected marine park with lots of colorful coral and abundant sea life. Right out your front door is the Rum Point Club and Red Sail Sports dive shop and activity center. While far from a wild and crazy place, the Red Sail facilities offer plenty of activity. They have a great bar and grill (excellent drinks and friendly service), a fabulous formal restaurant and a beach rental and excursion center. Right there you can rent jet skis, sail boats, banana boat, snorkling gear and more, plus book your Sting Ray City and scuba diving excursions. Most of the excursions leave right from the dock on the property. It is also a great place for the kids to find some playmates to explore the beach with! There are lots of other great restaurants nearby if you want to branch out a little. You are also about a 15 minute drive from the stunningly beautiful the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and the Mastic Trail nature hike.

Cloud Nine was all we could have hoped for. The photos and description are spot on. Our family of 5 (parents, two 18 year old sons and 12 year old daughter) spent a week at Cloud Nine. The condo slept us all comfortably. The beds were comfy, the showers were always hot, the ac was always cool, there were plenty of beach towels, the bikes were nice, the kayaks were great, the kitchen was well appointed and the washer/dryer allowed us to bring fewer clothes. The lanai was a great place to eat or drink coffee in the morning. What more could you ask for than a beach 50 yards out the front door and a pool and bio bay 20 yards out the back door. We often had the pool to ourselves, though we were almost always at the beach or on the kayaks. Nightly bio bay kayaking was very cool and fun. We even took a loooong kayak trip over to Star Fish Point (maybe too long a trip for little ones). We took the kayaks to the beach and kayaked back around to the condo through the bay. The snorkeling between Rum Point pier and The Retreats is better than expected. A couple times we put in down the street at Cayman Kai public beach and snorkeled back the the pier. We saw sting rays, sea turtles, parrot fish, a lobster, lion fish and many many colorful smaller fish. The water was calm and as clear as a pool. The drinks at The Wreck were cold. We were disappointed in the nicer restaurant. The service was great, but the food was just ok for the cost. We much more enjoyed the Kaibo Yacht Club down the road, especially the Tuesday night bbq. That food was great, nicely priced and dancing in the sand to Bona Fide was great fun! A day trip to 7 Mile was nice, but the kids were anxious to get back to The Rum. The girls enjoyed swimming with the Dolphins and Turtle Farm, while the guys did a jet ski tour with Fat Fish (highly recommended, but not for the little ones or less active). We all did the glass bottom boat tour to Sting Ray sand bar. It was great to walk across the street to board the boat. An evening trip around the East End to see the blow holes and a great dinner at The Lighthouse was enjoyable. Want a Florida or SC beach 7 Mile is the way to go. Want a calmer, quieter, crystal clear beach, then choose The Rum. Cloud Nine was a home away from home. Thank you for letting us stay at your place Adela. It comes highly recommended. And working with you was great!!! God Bless!!!
Owner's Response: Dear John,

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I enjoyed your adventurous stories and weI will have to challenge ourselves to kayak out to Star Fish Point. The Tuesday bbq at Kaibo's is one of our favorite activities. I am glad you were there on a Tuesday night to eat the great Caribbean bbq and dance with Bona Fide. The band is lots of fun because by the end of the night everyone has taken off their shoes and is dancing to their fun music! I am so glad that you spent time with your parents, two sons (who will soon be leaving the nest) and your lovely daughter. You had shared with me how important this vacation would be to your family and I am so pleased that your family was able to enjoy a piece of heaven with you! My best wishes to your family and in particular to your sons who will be graduating and embarking on their own adventures! Good health and blessings to you all! Adela

Great place to get away

We couldn't have asked for a better spot to spend a week in December. The home was plenty big for our family of 5 and we loved the close access to Rum Point. The drinks there are a bit expensive, but since there is no charge to use the chairs or restrooms, it's all balances out. We snorkelled off the beach at Rum Point and saw lots of fish and a stingray. The kids loved it too as the water is so shallow for so far out they could go quite a ways from the beach and still be very safe. We did kayak in the bay (forgot how much exercise that can be when we had a headwind) and did a number of other tours. There is easily more than a week worth of activities to take in on the island. The owner was quick to respond to a minor maintenance job that needed doing, and the handyman came out the next day and was very friendly and done in a half hour.

If we had to complain about one thing, we thought the mattress was a bit soft in the master bedroom, but otherwise everything else was PERFECT!
Owner's Response: Dear Kevin, I was so impressed with your active pace during your stay. The Rum Point Beach is perfect for everyone, especially the young ones. Not having to worry about big waves or deep areas is such a relief! I hope you come back to enjoy the tranquility and friendliness of Rum Point Beach! Adela

Great Rum Point Location

The property is in one of the older townhouse complexes in Rum Point however the property is in very good condition. Its location is fantastic... literally across the street from the Wreck Bar and the backing on to the cove. It was clean and cool when we arrived and the home is itself is comfortable. It is well equipped with kayaks and paddles, pool & beach toys for the kids, boardgames and nintendo wii as well as TVs and DVD players in every room. The screened in porch came in handy too. For an inexpensive 2 bed property with a fantastic location and a cosy, pleasant, if fairly basic, interior, you can't go wrong with this rental. Adela, the owner, was also great to deal with. Throughly recommend and would happily go back.
Owner's Response: Dear Jerry,

Thank you for the wonderful review and it was great to know that your girls had so much fun. Rum Point is a great place for families to hang out and take in the natural beauty of Cayman Kai. We cannot wait to be back ourselves. We will be on the island Dec. 22nd- January 6th so feel free to knock on our door if you are in the area. Our kids can go kayaking but I will definitely be hanging out at the Wreck Bar with our friendly Rum Point Beach Club bartenders and waiting staff. They are the best!

Wonderful Vacation Great Location and all the amenities

Cloud Nine was ideally located and had all the amenities we needed. The house was clean and had plenty of towels for the bathrooms and the beach. The kids also enjoyed playing Wii after a day of sun and relaxed to some of the DVD movies available. The kayaks and beach bikes were a fabulous addition to the rental unit as they afforded us so many exploration opportunities. We were at Rum Point after a full moon so we got to experience the bioluminescent bay, a Halloween treat. The north side was, for us, definitely a better choice than the busy side of 7 Mile Beach as it is quiet and a great place to decompress. We enjoyed a nightly dinner on the lanai and spent plenty of hours on the beach chairs or hammocks. Adela was great at corresponding with us both prior to our departure and also during our stay to check in on how we were enjoying our stay. We would definitely recommend Cloud Nine to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Owner's Response: I love the fact that you were able to explore, play and relax at Cloud Nine, Rum Point. The bioluminescent bay and Rum Point Beach Club are ideally located for our guests and we are so glad that you experienced both places. Your exploration adventures on the bikes to Star Fish Point and Chisholm's made some great stories and I hope memories for you and your family. I hope that you soaked up enough sun, got enough sand under your toes and enjoyed so much the wonderful rum drinks from Rum Point Beach Bar and Grill to make you want to come back! Best wishes and hope to have you back! Adela

Paradise Family Vacation

We recently stayed five nights at Cloud Nine. It was wonderful. Although the pictures with this listing are beautiful, it was truly amazing in person. This condo was very well maintained and very clean. The pool and glowing bay is a very short walk out the back door. Several nights we took the two person kayacks out and the water really does glow, one the most interesting things I've seen and the kids loved it. I would also reccomend taking a boat tour of the bio bay from The Sweet Spot which is a tour and water sport company about a mile down the road. A bit further down the road is Starfish Point. Its about 2 feet deep and many starfish can be found like in her pictures. The beach in the pictures is only about a 30 yard walk out the front door. When you see this clear water and white sand, you will agree it is one of the most beautiful sights ever. At Rum Point Beach they also have a water sports and tour company, a casual dining place called The Wreck which has good food, and a store with T-shirts, gifts, and needed items such as tanning lotion and mosquito spray. They also have a nice sit down restaurant next door. We took a tour from Rum Point to Stingray City and snorkeling. That can not be missed. As other attractions are located on the other side of the island, just plan your days in advance. There are many great places to eat. Our favorite was the Lighthouse and the food was very good. After our submarine trip, we went to Guy Harvey's gallery to buy some shirts. He was actually there painting. He was very nice and signed our shirts and took pictures with us. A note of the owner. One evening on our way to dinner, I locked ourselves out of the condo. I emailed the owner of our problem. She responded promptly and had her cleaner bring us an extra key. By the time we got back from dinner, our key was there. Outstanding service. The bottom line is this condo is very nice, has an owner that is all about having her tenants enjoy a great experience, and you can not go wrong renting this property. I would definately rent this condo again.
Owner's Response: Dear Mark,

Thank you for your kind words and I enjoyed so much working with you. You definitely had a great experience on the island. I think meeting Guy Harvey was a very fortunate encounter. He is truly an outstanding individual who cares very much for the ecology of the island. He is a great proponent of protecting the beautiful Caribbean Sea that engulfs the whole island. One of his other passions is to protect the stingray population around the three Cayman islands. You were there 5 short days but you took advantage of every minute exploring the island. I enjoy reading that you found our bioluminescent bay to be one of the most interesting things you have ever seen. It is a rare sighting since there are only 11 bioluminescent bays in the world. I love it when we swim in the bay at night and see our bodies glow in the water. I hope to have you back in our little piece of Paradise! Again, thank you for your outstanding comments! Adela
