CLOUD NINE - LUXURIOUS RUM POINT BEACH FRONT AND BIOLUMINESCENT BAY

Grand Cayman Townhome Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom Townhome - Sleeps 4-7 w/ sofa bed, 2.5 bath, loaded w/ FREE amenities

Imagine a retreat where you can enjoy a relaxing vacation in a luxurious setting…Cloud Nine…

Cloud Nine has a full unobstructed view of the Rum Point Beach Club. Our highly coveted location is superior to the locations of most other Island House units that face an overflow parking lot and the road. Guest reviews that rave about our location include, 'THE LOCATION: Perfect! this condo is situated perfectly. Step outside the front door, walk across the road (maybe 1 - 2 cars per day) and there you are at Rum Point Beach Club,' and 'The beach in the pictures is only about a 30 yard walk out the front door.”

Our 1,834 square foot townhome in Rum Point has been designed to treat you to a comfortable and memorable visit. Upon entering our townhome, you will be enveloped by superior accommodations. The townhome was renovated from top to bottom during the summer of 2012. It has been furnished with contemporary furniture and accessories to reflect the chic Caribbean style of Grand Cayman. You will also enjoy 2-car front door parking, free high speed WIFI, a stereo system, premium cable and DVD players on 4 HD televisions sets (including both bedrooms with 30+ DVD's), a Wii game system with games and the use of 2 double, 2 single kayaks, a paddle board, and 5 bicycles (4 adult and 1 child).

“Cloud Nine” is a two story townhome with living space on the first floor and sleeping quarters with en-suite bathrooms on the second floor. The downstairs boasts an open concept living space which includes the living and dining areas, a fully stocked kitchen and game room. There is a conveniently located two piece powder room on the first floor. The laundry room/pantry is conveniently located adjacent to the kitchen. Our well equipped kitchen provides a great space for cooking and entertainment as it faces the open concept living area. The dining area is located in the center of the open space next to the kitchen. The living area offers plenty of seating with a full length sofa and love seat, a 39 inch HDTV with premium HD cable box, DVD player, movies, stereo with ipod/CD player and radio, soft lighting and accent wall with original art work. The game room offers a love seat/sofa bed, board games, movies, 32 inch HDTV with premium HD cable box, DVD player and a Wii system with games.

The spacious lanai is right outside the foldable sliding glass doors adjoining the interior and exterior living spaces. You will find a vibrant outdoor dining and living area within the screened-in lanai surrounded by nature. The lanai faces the pool, dock and bioluminescent bay. The lanai provides an excellent spot to relax in the conversational lounge area, breathe in the fresh air, feel the cool breeze and watch the Caymanian parrots and other tropical birds fly by. Guests who wish to spend more time in the outdoors can enjoy their coffee and meals at the dining table in the lanai. Just a few steps out the back door, you will have access to the pool and our outdoor grill.

There are two bedrooms, each with its own separate en-suite bathroom on the second floor. You will find the bedroom amenities superior to other accommodations. The master bedroom boasts a king sized bed and the second bedroom a queen sized bed and matching twin bed. Each bedroom has room darkening draperies, HDTV with premium HD cable box, DVD player, alarm clock/radio with several soothing sound options such as flowing water, waves, forest sounds, birds chirping and more, modern solid wood furniture, calming color palettes and ocean themed paintings and prints, comfortable new bedding, new lighting system and lamps, remote control adjustable speed fan and separately zoned A/C temperature settings in each bedroom. The bathrooms have new shower and faucet fixtures, high efficiency toilets, and are finely decorated and well appointed. Each bedroom has its own exterior balcony within the screened-in lanai. The balconies face the pool, dock and bay from the perched second floor. Each balcony offers a private sitting area for you to relax.

You will have access to two double and two single kayaks to tour the calm bay at your own pace. You will enjoy a fabulous nocturnal spectacle only seen in 11 other bioluminescent bays around the world. When the lights go down, the micro-organisms in the bioluminescent bay put on a fabulous show as visitors tour the bay. As you paddle through the water, the micro-organisms illuminate leaving a shiny silvery streak of water. Your paddle will take the form of a lightsaber as you slice through the night waters. The dock is open for fishing any time of day or night in the calm bay waters.

A few steps out your front door will find you at the renowned Rum Point Beach, the most picturesque beach in Grand Cayman. The shallow and clear waters and pink/white sand of Rum Point Beach make it ideal for swimming and offers some of the finest snorkeling in the Caribbean. Rum Point is located in a protected marine park, so grab your snorkeling gear and take in the vibrant views and abundant sea life along the reef just offshore. Adults and children alike will enjoy relaxing and playing in the clear, turquoise, shallow waters. Also at Rum Point, you will find the Red Sail Sports activity center, where you can book Sting Ray City trips as well as other excursions. A host of beach toys are available for rent, including jet skis, catamaran sailboat, banana boat, snorkeling gear and more. The Wreck Bar and Rum Point Restaurant provide some of the best food and drinks on the island including the famous Mudslide, Cuban sandwich, jerk pork plate, local dishes and fine dining in the evenings. Rum Point Beach offers changing rooms, showers, hammocks, a volleyball net, picnic tables and plenty of shade under a canopy of magnificent Casuarina trees and coconut palms.

All these attributes make Cloud Nine the perfect place for your next vacation!

My husband and I have been married for 19 years. We have 2 boys, ages 11 and 15. We live in Houston, Texas. We enjoy getting away to our townhome at Rum Point as frequently as we can. Our kids enjoy telling their friends that in Grand Cayman their back yard is a bioluminescent bay and their front yard is a beach! We enjoy having friends and family visit so that we can show off our home away from home. We would love to share our island home with you while we are back in Houston, putting in time in the 'real world.'

Adela Parlette purchased this townhome in 2012

My husband and I had talked about buying a property in the Caribbean since our honeymoon. Everytime we would go on vacation to an island, that conversation would come back up. But, we never pulled the trigger. Back in July of 2007, my in-laws watched the kids for a week while my husband and I went on our first vacation by ourselves since the kids were born. We went to Grand Cayman and stayed on 7 Mile Beach. The beaches were stunning and the island was absolutely paradise. Beatiful views...warm water...laid-back island atmosphere.

Around the middle of the week, we decided to rent a car and drive over to Rum Point, which we had read about online. Now, I grew up in the Caribbean and we have traveled pretty extensively to various island destinations. I have seen my share of stunningly beautiful beaches. But, let me tell you...when we got out of the car and walked around the corner of the gift shop and saw the beach at Rum Point, we were absolutely awestruck by the beauty. We had a drink at the Wreck Bar and decided to walk out to the water. The water was perfectly calm and clear as a looking glass. We were able to walk out a couple hundred feet from the shore and the water was only waist high! We began to talk about how this would be such a perfect place to come with the kids. Shallow, calm water. Nice quiet, family atmosphere. To say the least, we fell in love with Rum Point and purchased a one bedroom condominium back in 2007.

Five years later, with a teenager in the family we have outgrown the one bedroom, but not the beauty of Rum Point. In summer of 2012 we found the perfect 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhome we call 'Cloud Nine.'

Cloud Nine offers the best of both worlds...the picturesque Rum Point Beach out your front door and a rare bioluminescent bay out your back door that you can explore on our kayaks. All the while you will find yourself in a warm, luxurious setting from which to enjoy a tropical paradise. Cloud Nine has a full unobstructed view of the Rum Point Beach Club. Our highly coveted location is superior to the locations of the other Island House units that face an overflow parking lot and the road. The Rum Point beach and waters are part of a government protected marine park with lots of colorful coral and abundant sea life. Right out your front door is the Rum Point Club and Red Sail Sports dive shop and activity center. While far from a wild and crazy place, the Red Sail facilities offer plenty of activity. They have a great bar and grill (excellent drinks and friendly service), a fabulous formal restaurant and a beach rental and excursion center. Right there you can rent jet skis, sail boats, banana boat, snorkling gear and more, plus book your Sting Ray City and scuba diving excursions. Most of the excursions leave right from the dock on the property. It is also a great place for the kids to find some playmates to explore the beach with! There are lots of other great restaurants nearby if you want to branch out a little. You are also about a 15 minute drive from the stunningly beautiful the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and the Mastic Trail nature hike.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5
Cloud Nine was an ideal place for our family. The unit is well equipped, clean and nicely decorated. We wanted to be close to Rum Point -- and it seems that you cannot get any closer and still have the privacy you get staying at Cloud Nine.
Adela was great - and gives great advice regarding dining, activities, etc. Her recommendations are very helpful.
We put the bikes and kayaks to good use. Starfish Point is fabulous (we biked). Snorkeled from the Public Beach (walked to) and drifted with the current to Rum Point - some of the best snorkeling we have experienced. Beautiful healthy reef.
Bioluminescence is best seen when the moon is not too bright - check when the tours are running - that will be the best time to see the bioluminescence.
We loved Kurt's Korner for delicious local take out.
We will definitely return to Cloud Nine.

Owner's Response: Hi Linda,

Thank you for your kind review. I am glad that my recommendations were helpful in planning your trip and during your stay at Cloud Nine. We love ordering from Kurt's Korner and bringing the food home so we can eat out in the lanai. The cooks have always made the best food for us... some of our favorites are macaroni pudding, Cayman style fish, rice and beans and plantains. I am glad you took the bikes out to Starfish Point. We like to go right before sunset to catch a glimpse of the beautiful sunset and the amazing large starfish. The lighting is always perfect for pictures. I am delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay at Cloud Nine and put the bikes, kayaks and paddle board to use! Best wishes, Adela

The BEST yet!

  • 5 of 5
There's so many great things to say! First and most important, Adela was THE most helpful and friendliest owner we've ever had the pleasure of dealing with! She's fabulous and leaves nothing out!

Now, the stay.... We were two couples and the home was fantastic! It had everything you will need and then some. Cleaning, linens, beach towels were meticulous. We rode the bicycles nearly every morning and the kayaks nearly every evening. The pool is clean and rarely busy. Usually nobody there! The neighborhood is clean, tropical and very friendly. Lots of walkers in the morning with smiles and a "good morning" greeting. Paddling on the bio-luminescent bay is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Probably the most incredible thing we've ever seen in our lives! Rum Point beach and bar area is a blast! Don't miss the mudslides - even if you think you may not like them. You will!

The Beach Party at the Kaibo Beach Bar and Grill (just down the street!) was great! Food was excellent, the band was very good. A fun way to spend the evening!

Great grocery shopping at Fosters-IGA - best near the airport but the Countryside Shopping Village is ok if you don't want to make the drive back to the airport. But it's a long drive, so plan ahead! Liquor is VERY expensive so we recommend the local Blackbeards brand for price and quality. Very good stuff! The least expensive liquor store we found was a small local place across the side street from Fosters at the airport. If you're standing in front of Fosters looking out to the road, walk to the right and you should see it.

Our favorite restaurant was the Lighthouse. Great food and exceptional service. Dinner out on the deck is fantastic! Check out the conch chowder!

If you travel to Seven Mile Beach, visit Calico Jacks or the TikiBar for late afternoon cocktails. The Seven Mile Beach shopping is typical island stuff. The cruise crowds can get to be too much.

The Botanical Park is worth the admission. Stingray City is a MUST and you can take the boat from across the street at Rum Point.

We found some of the best snorkeling on the island right across the street at Rum Point. Swim (or walk!) out to the stone wall (reef). Great colorful fish and maybe even a Moray eel! We had a stingray swim between us as we were just wading in the water near the boat dock.

All in all, too much to tell here but you won't regret this vacation. And Adela makes it so very easy and she's delightful! We WILL return one day!

Owner's Response: Dear Dave,
You are so gracious with your complements. I love that you have these wonderful memories of your visit to Rum Point and the rest of the island. I will be so happy to welcome you back to Cloud Nine. My family, friends and I were recently in Rum Point which never loses its magic. The children were mesmerized by the beautiful starfish, stingrays, conchs, lobsters, fish, corals and turtles in the Rum Point reef and Star Fish Point. Everything so close to our front door. We all enjoyed our kayak trips around the bioluminescent bay right in our backyard. We enjoyed our barbeque dinners and relaxing time at Cloud Nine. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me and the public. I hope you can find the time to enjoy some more of those delicious mudslides at the friendly Rum Point Bar. Tammy, Dalia and Melissa are the island Mudslide experts!

Best regards, Adela

A great place to stay!!!

  • 5 of 5
Cloud Nine condo was perfect for our family of four. It was clean and very well maintained. I think it has the best location out of all of the units. Outside the front door across the street is Rum Point Beach. I was worried it would be a busy street but honestly it is not. Rum Point beach is very cute and relaxing. It has two restaurants and gift shop, hammocks for lounging and beach chairs. There also is a place there to schedule scuba diving, Sting Ray city snorkel tours, kayaking tours, dinner cruises. Outside the back door a few steps is the pool and the Bioluminescent Bay. Definitely go kayaking (kayak was provided with stay) at night and watch the water glow!! It was awesome. Four Bikes were also provided so we went biking to Starfish Point Beach and saw numerous starfish (early morning and sunset time seemed to be best). We had dinner on the screened in porch or just sat reading on the porch. The breeze on the porch was just enough we were never hot. The condo also provided a Wii and some family board games. The bedrooms and main living area had a TV with cable that the teenagers were happy about. The kitchen was well equipped it had everything that we needed. The property owner and manager were in constant contact with us to ensure our stay was great!! I felt if we needed any assistance on anything they would be there in a heartbeat. We also drove to the other side of the island twice (about a 45 minute drive). I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone and we can’t wait to come back!!!!

Owner's Response: Hi Belinda,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I rejoice when my guests take advantage of their family vacation time like yours did. I was so glad that we were in touch throughout your stay and I was able to vicariously enjoy all of your adventures. One of our local friends found some caves and we are supposed to go with him in a couple of weeks. I will certainly share the experience with you once I see them. I hope you come back soon! Many blessings to you and your family! Adela

Beautiful home with lots of extras!!

  • 5 of 5
Cloud Nine was a great town home for our family vacation with our three kids (16, 13, 7)!! Rum Point has everything you need including a beautiful beach, bar/restaurant, volleyball, hammocks, some of the best snorkeling on the island, starfish point, bioluminescent bay....
The house had everything we could think to need: plenty of beach and bath towels, kayaks, bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, outside shower...not to mention a well stocked kitchen and ability to do laundry! Adela provided us with tons of information about rental car (highly recommend Andy's car rental...definite must since the house is on the north side of the island and about 45min drive to 7 mile beach) groceries, restaurants, things to do...and step by step directions (with pics) to get from airport to the house! We will definitely be coming back the next time we are on Grand Cayman!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5
Cloud Nine was all we could have hoped for. The photos and description are spot on. Our family of 5 (parents, two 18 year old sons and 12 year old daughter) spent a week at Cloud Nine. The condo slept us all comfortably. The beds were comfy, the showers were always hot, the ac was always cool, there were plenty of beach towels, the bikes were nice, the kayaks were great, the kitchen was well appointed and the washer/dryer allowed us to bring fewer clothes. The lanai was a great place to eat or drink coffee in the morning. What more could you ask for than a beach 50 yards out the front door and a pool and bio bay 20 yards out the back door. We often had the pool to ourselves, though we were almost always at the beach or on the kayaks. Nightly bio bay kayaking was very cool and fun. We even took a loooong kayak trip over to Star Fish Point (maybe too long a trip for little ones). We took the kayaks to the beach and kayaked back around to the condo through the bay. The snorkeling between Rum Point pier and The Retreats is better than expected. A couple times we put in down the street at Cayman Kai public beach and snorkeled back the the pier. We saw sting rays, sea turtles, parrot fish, a lobster, lion fish and many many colorful smaller fish. The water was calm and as clear as a pool. The drinks at The Wreck were cold. We were disappointed in the nicer restaurant. The service was great, but the food was just ok for the cost. We much more enjoyed the Kaibo Yacht Club down the road, especially the Tuesday night bbq. That food was great, nicely priced and dancing in the sand to Bona Fide was great fun! A day trip to 7 Mile was nice, but the kids were anxious to get back to The Rum. The girls enjoyed swimming with the Dolphins and Turtle Farm, while the guys did a jet ski tour with Fat Fish (highly recommended, but not for the little ones or less active). We all did the glass bottom boat tour to Sting Ray sand bar. It was great to walk across the street to board the boat. An evening trip around the East End to see the blow holes and a great dinner at The Lighthouse was enjoyable. Want a Florida or SC beach 7 Mile is the way to go. Want a calmer, quieter, crystal clear beach, then choose The Rum. Cloud Nine was a home away from home. Thank you for letting us stay at your place Adela. It comes highly recommended. And working with you was great!!! God Bless!!!

Owner's Response: Dear John,

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I enjoyed your adventurous stories and weI will have to challenge ourselves to kayak out to Star Fish Point. The Tuesday bbq at Kaibo's is one of our favorite activities. I am glad you were there on a Tuesday night to eat the great Caribbean bbq and dance with Bona Fide. The band is lots of fun because by the end of the night everyone has taken off their shoes and is dancing to their fun music! I am so glad that you spent time with your parents, two sons (who will soon be leaving the nest) and your lovely daughter. You had shared with me how important this vacation would be to your family and I am so pleased that your family was able to enjoy a piece of heaven with you! My best wishes to your family and in particular to your sons who will be graduating and embarking on their own adventures! Good health and blessings to you all! Adela

Great place to get away

  • 5 of 5
We couldn't have asked for a better spot to spend a week in December. The home was plenty big for our family of 5 and we loved the close access to Rum Point. The drinks there are a bit expensive, but since there is no charge to use the chairs or restrooms, it's all balances out. We snorkelled off the beach at Rum Point and saw lots of fish and a stingray. The kids loved it too as the water is so shallow for so far out they could go quite a ways from the beach and still be very safe. We did kayak in the bay (forgot how much exercise that can be when we had a headwind) and did a number of other tours. There is easily more than a week worth of activities to take in on the island. The owner was quick to respond to a minor maintenance job that needed doing, and the handyman came out the next day and was very friendly and done in a half hour.

If we had to complain about one thing, we thought the mattress was a bit soft in the master bedroom, but otherwise everything else was PERFECT!
