The Jim & Karen Bradley family built this home for their use. As the kids have grown up and no longer use it as much, it is now time to share our vacation home with others. We live in Tucson Az but have deep roots in this area.

Karen Bradley purchased this house in 1996

This home is very comfortable for use by extended families and couples vacationing together. Although located in a rural area, it is close to many popular attractions including Mesa Verde National Park, Durango and Telluride. It is close enough to be a hub for visiting other nearby attractions including The Grand Canyon National Park, Arches National Park, Zion and Bryce National Park and several others. The house and its location make it an ideal base for exploring SW Colorado, SE Utah, NE Arizona and NW New Mexico. Summer activities are great including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, or just relaxing on the deck. In the Fall, the colors will astound you. Winter time is play time in the snow. The Telluride Ski area is only a 45 minute drive away, for some of the best snow skiing and snowboarding in the country. Sledding, sitting by the fire and hot tubing are also great winter activities. If you really want to get away and spend time with family and friends, this is the place.

The home allows for a comfortable stay, so you can relax and set your own schedule. Fully modern, it has all of the conveniences of home, but in a wonderful rural mountain environment.

Lovely home. Our length of stay was for only 4 days so only got to use some of the amenities. The listing was accurate with regards to location. Summer time rental allows you to drive to its door. That may not be the case for a winter time rental. I did talk with the owner about a couple of maintenance issues that they should address and apparently due to health reasons the owner has not been to the location as frequently as they typically have in the past. Thank you for opening up your home.

I went with our Auntie, a cousin, & another friend of the family...our ages range from 61-84. We absolutely loved the location of the cabin, the beautiful setting surrounded by aspens and pines...and just up the road, a gorgeous meadow. This all made for lovely morning & evening walks.
We had a couple of issues with the home: the main floor washing machine flooded the laundry room, out into the carpeted hallway and around the corner into the dining area, and also flooded the kitchen & living area in the basement; another issue was the lack of good lighting in the living and dining area. We are all avid readers at night, and we love working on large table puzzles but the lighting was not conducive to those at all. We brought in lamps from bedrooms, bought some light bulbs, and used a couple of clip-on lamps that we had with us that did help with reading in the living area. Many of the celing lights did not work and there were no correct wattage bulbs for most of them. We even tried replacing a few from a footstool but just couldn't manage it. As far as the washer situation goes, that event happened on day 4 of our 22 day stay and fortunately, they did have a smaller washer in the basement. A couple of us could take the clothes, towels, sheets down to wash and then bring them back up to dry. A repairman was able to come out on day 6 but parts had to be ordered or a new washer was to be purchased. Thankfully that smaller washer in the basement worked well for the remainder of the trip. Karen was easily reachable by phone during all of this.
This home was great for the oldest guests with the main living/kitchen, full bath & 2 bedrooms on the main floor!
The view from the kitchen & dining area isn't exactly as shown....the river is across the road and could not be seen from the home, BUT it was still a beautiful view!!! The main floor HD TV works well for any TV viewing and wifi access is good. We would suggest updating the website & manual for the home. Easy access to the home on a great road, 2 good restaurants in nearby Rico (Argentine Grill...excellent, really!!! & a Mexican Restaurant called Que Rico, I think, with good Margaritas & food!).. then a short 20 min drive to the grocery store in Dolores where you can buy delicious, freshly store-baked fruit pies...after eating a good meal at The Naked Moose right there in Dolores. Telluride a gorgeous 50 min drive away!

This cabin provided excellent accommodations for our family reunion of five couples (ten adults, one baby, and three dogs). It was huge, beautifully situated on the side of a valley with excellent views, very private, and we loved the hot tub and plethora of hummingbirds that entertained us with their constant trips to the feeders.

We were on the fence about renting the basement but ended up being very glad we did. With the addition of the basement, each couple completely had their own space and the basement provided us with use of an additional full bathroom, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and fridge. The basement was also perfect for the dogs. There is a door directly to the outside off the basement which was very convenient when taking the dogs out for late night potty breaks. While not fenced in, there was ample flat space around the cabin to walk the dogs on leash.

The kitchen was very spacious with a huge island, and well equipped for cooking, baking, and coffee drinking. It was the central hub of the cabin and where we often congregated. We enjoyed cooking and eating as a group, watching movies, using the hot tub, watching the hummingbirds, touringTelluride and Mesa Verde, and doing a puzzle. It was very relaxing to get away from it all.

As there was no cell phone reception, some of us were able to use an app on our iphones with the wifi to make phone calls. And we were also able to e-mail and to use the land line phone to call the owners if we had any difficulties.

The VRBO listing was very informative as well as the owner's separate website with information about the cabin. The owners were very responsive prior to our stay with questions I had and were also helpful when we experienced a problem with the cabin's water supply while we were there. The owners were in good contact with us during our water problem, offered suggestions for self repair, and when the problem worsened, they called a plumber who was able to fix the problem the next day. The owners were very apologetic, reported that this had never occurred before, fixed the problem as quickly as possible. The problem was resolved to our satisfaction.

All in all, I loved the cabin. It was quiet, peaceful, and had an excellent view of the stars. We all felt the cabin was big enough for a family reunion with private space for individual families. I personally would recommend it to others and would consider staying there in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you Mandy for your lovely review of our home. We really love that you can come to our home in the mountains and enjoy it as much as you did. Our thanks go out to you for the patience you had with the water issues. That big storm a couple of weeks before you arrived sure did a number on our system. We were able to resolve it all but it did cause you some inconvenience and we truly appreciate understanding this.

Utilizing all the features of the cabin as you did is what we really hope for. It truly is a great place to spend time together with family and get away the the rat race we all live in day to day. Some think that not having cell reception may not be a good thing but it is something we really enjoy when we are there are we get to interact with each other and really spend time together. It was even more so that way when we didn't have internet or Directv!

We hope you can all come back someday or refer your friends. You were a really great group to have at the house and left it in excellent condition. Thank you so much!

This home is beautiful and HUGE! We had a party of six and it's as if we could've never seen each other if we wanted! The home has a large hot tub to soak in after a long day of hiking, fishing or just to soak away the stress of work, worries or whatever. The beds are comfortable and there's plenty of towels, linens and kitchenware to feel like you're at home. We watched the moon rise in the evenings from the spacious decks and the wildlife all about the property as well. There are deer in the mornings/evenings out front, hummingbirds and chipmunks to name just a few. The owners are kind and considerate and quick to communicate, if necessary.
The area is absolutely gorgeous! We've lived in a lot of different areas and I can attest that this is some of the most beautiful parts of the US around. The fishing was excellent, my family had no problems catching trout every day. The grocery is about 30 mins away, which can be a bit of a drive, but not so far that its inconvenient. The town of Dolores is quiet but still offers all you need.
You cannot go wrong with this home!

Owner's Response: Gina it was so nice to have the opportunity to provide you and your family a well deserved vacation. I was able to talk to you several times and hope that we can meet in person some time.

It was nice to hear about the great fishing. We don't fish so it will be good to tell others about how easy it was to catch fish.

Please come back sometime soon. We would love to share our home with you and your family again.

We had an amazing time - if you are looking for space, privacy, wildlife and natural beauty this is the place!! Had a blast at the river every single day and hiking trails just minutes away. Come prepared the area is remote so brings your supplies with you no stores close by. Was well worth the drive - fun was had by all and the ages ranged from 2 years old to 78 years old. There was something for everyone to enjoy!!!

Cabin with its five bedrooms was perfect for our large family reunion. Indeed, could seat 15 comfortably for dinner (including large kitchen island). Cabin had so many amenities, the hot tub just being one! Location was wonderful cool nights/warm days in beautiful well watered forested river valley. As compared to the dry 4-Corners area (75 miles away), I was impressed how green everything was (even in late June). Cabin's location is prime for day trips to so many nearby attractions. Many of us went to Telluride (with its free gondola), Mesa Verde National Park, Durango for wonderful train ride, and Arches National Park. It was very easy to work with the owner, and I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone. In fact, I'd like to return again.
