Secluded Getaway with Spectacular Lake Michigan View

The Leelanau Peninsula is truly one of the most beautiful places in the country. If you enjoy fresh water activities you will not find another place like it outside the State of Michigan. Living in California with the ocean/mountain views and access is beautiful but it lacks the intimacy and the sense of community. We looked at several lake communities before deciding on this spot and five years later still believe we chose the perfect location in northern Michigan. Charlevoix and Harbor Springs were beautiful but lacked the privacy we craved coming from Los Angeles. Traverse City and Petoskey, too city (never thought I would say that, but it has happened!); Northport, too far from the airport; Suttons Bay, no west facing view; then there are the inland lakes, private - yes, but not like looking at the big water or feeling the breeze from it, without mosquitos for some strange reason. It was and is as close to perfect as northern Michigan gets and each summer we spend there only confirms this.

One of the best things about the house is the location, it's close to everything and at the same time secluded and private. The house is surrounded by 5 acres of private wooded property but a 2 minute drive to the beach, a walk down the road to winetasting, a 5 min drive to shopping and restaurants, 25 minutes to a major airport, 10 minutes to a small plane airfield, 15 minutes to a broad range of activities and the Michigan shore across the street (beach access 1.5 mi). It doesn't get much better.
