The city of St. Augustine is rich with history and full of moments that will forever mark its place as the oldest city in Florida and the oldest continuously occupied colony in North America. Founded in 1565, before the colonization of Jamestown by the English and long before the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, the Spanish settled this area and established the now existing city of St. Augustine.
As you walk down the streets of St .Augustine in its modern stage, Spanish influence on architecture and infrastructure is still evident. Despite the many setbacks throughout history including a yellow fever epidemic, pirate invasion, and battlefield of many wars, this quaint historic city continues to offer its guest and community a multitude of stories, folklore, and beauty. All of the many facets of this historic town, its tranquil environment, family friendly attractions, excellent dining, relaxing atmosphere, and the view of the beautiful ocean are the many splendors that attract guest here regularly.

My wife, 2 mutts and I have been traveling from Michigan to St. Augustine the last couple winters to renovate this turn of the century home. We love the history, great beaches, antiques and art.
Steve purchased this house in 2009
We have traveled around Florida for years. We kept returning to this area because it seemed a little less hectic than busier southern locations. St. Augustine is nicely laidback.
We love the 4 block neighborhood called the Abbott Tract our house is located in. It's a mix of large plantation houses and smaller Florida houses. It's very quiet; no through traffic feels very safe. It's 2 blocks to the old fort, intercoastal, Ripley's, and A1A antiques shops.
The cottage was perfect for us, it was just the right size and in a wonderful neighborhood. It was very close and convenient to walk most places, plus we rode the bikes all over town. The decor was lovely, the place was spotless, and the bed was comfortable. We'll definitely return next year!
The house over all was very nice. House keeping could be better.....luckily it was me and not my dogs who found a loaded mousetrap behind a love seat. And there are small bugs. There is a lockbox with the house key out front with an easy to figure out combination. Someone locally had their own set of keys and entered the house 2x while I was out and took it upon themselves to readjust the thermostat and unplug my computer & pad chargers both times. This was alarming to me since no one at the management office knew who had keys plus I had left my 2 friendly yorkies in the house while I was out. They did come in and change the locks for me. So for the last half of my vacation I felt safe. Not going to stop whoever it was though.....all they have to do is access the lockbox and make new keys. I was staying there alone so I knew where I had left my things and noticed all the changes. A family or couple would never realize it if someone entered and moved things while they were out....they'd assume it was done by one of the others. So who knows how long it's been happening.
Now the home location is great! I was able to park my car out front and spend the week on my bike. Town, fort and all attractions are very close. And there's a trolley stop right up the road.
Had a wonderful time in St. Augustine. The cottage was just the perfect size. Anything you can think of that you would need on vacation (and more) is right at your fingertips. It's really like taking your home with you :-) Perfect location for walking everywhere .. or just a short walk to Ripley's and pick up the trolley. The cottage was clean and well kept. All in all, a great place to stay.
Great place! Very peaceful, clean and just a short walk to the Old City. We loved this cottage and will be coming back.
First, let me say that when I walked in the door the place not only looked clean but smelled fabulous! The cleaning staff must be amazing! My daughter and I had a blast, and so did our pug, Rambo. The location is two blocks away from Ripley's and the fort grounds. The neighborhood is safe, and I met wonderful locals walking my dog. I felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I like to bring my pet on vacation, but hate to stay in dirty places. I am a neat nut, and appreciated how well kept the cottage is. The bed my mother slept in broke, but Jeff, the maintenance man, fixed it quickly. We will definitely return again.
We stayed at the Blue Bell Cottage on Thanksgiving day through the following Wednesday and had a great time. The cottage is quaint and within walking distance from historic downtown St. Augustine. We were very comfortable and besides having the spare room bed collapes while my daughter and her husband were getting settled for the night, our stay was comfortable and without incident. The temps were in the middle 60's during the day and the 40's during the evening, so a coat was necessary. We happily recommend this property to other couples and hope to return one day ourselves. One recommendation I would make to the owners is that they consider moving the wall cabinet from above the half-bathroom sink to another wall and then placing a mirror over the sink to provide better functionality. All-in-all, we had a great visit!
We stayed mid-July in this cottage and we loved it! The cottage is completely renovated and super clean! To us, it was like a storybook cottage! The air conditioning was outstanding, there was ample room for dining and entertaining, and very fast internet. However, the living room is a bit tight, the beds were squeaky, and the television (only one) is about 20".
Also, the place is located RIGHT by Castillo de San Marcos. Amazing location!!!
2 Blocks to Ripleys Believe it Or Not, 3 blocks to intercoastal public access and 3 blocks to Spanish Fort.
