Could be a Nice Property but Needs Work!

  • 2 of 5

This property is located in a great place. Very beautiful setting, wonderful pool, gated for security and a very helpful front desk manager. The trip to both Quepos and Manuel Antonio are very easy when using a taxi ($2-3) to get to the bus depot and then taking the bus ($.75) to the park. You can walk almost anywhere in town so you don't need a car to stay here if you are willing to use the taxis and buses. Ronald at the front desk was very helpful with information on the area, tours available, and suggestions on how to get around. Unfortunately that is where our satisfaction with the rental ended.

Upon arrival we tried to raise the blinds and found several were broken - they didn't go up all the way, went up crooked, or didn't go up at all. We were given 6 bath towels which was fine but only one hand towel and one face cloth for 3 people and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen had 2 dish towels so old and thin you could read a paper through them but not dry dishes. There are new appliances and granite counter tops. The coffee maker had old coffee in it and there is no soap for the dishwasher. The upstairs shower is missing the shelf that belongs there so the soap and hair products have to set on the floor. The room air conditioners work very well for cooling the rooms but one bedroom is missing screens so you can't open the windows at night and have to use the air conditioner. Overall there is maintenance that needs to be done....

But the worst part is there is absolutely no comfortable place to set!!! The couch is dirty and so broken down you sunk past the frame when you sat. We used all of the throw pillows and decorative pillows from the beds to be able to sit for even an hour in the evenings. And if you want to sit outside and enjoy the view you can bring the hard, straight back wooden chairs from the dining table but there is NO patio furniture. The rockers shown in the photos don't exist. We took chairs from around the pool to our unit to be able to have coffee outside in the mornings. It's a shame to have such a beautiful outdoor view and you can't sit comfortably and enjoy it.

I do NOT recommend this place until the owner gets serious about making it welcoming for guests.

Owner's Response: Hi Katie, First of all thank you for letting me know about the required maintenance items, this is the first I have heard of the screen and the shelf in the shower. I will request the management fix these items right away. Since I am not in Costa Rica I cannot know of these items. In regards to the issue with the face towels/hand towels, if you would have asked Ronald /Front Desk I am sure they would have provided you with additional towels. They are very helpful and everyone likes them. We just had a couple stay in the villa for 7 weeks and I did not hear a complaint about the couch being too soft. I think beds and furniture are very dependent on personal choice too soft to one person is just right to another. I will remove the picture of the rocking chairs, since they stay outside who knows what happened to them. I am sorry you did not enjoy the condo, but you must remember that it is Costa Rica and not the United States, some things are different in Costa Rica.

Perfect for Families

  • 5 of 5

John the owner made the reservation and follow up process very easy and was a wealth of information about the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area. The home is impeccable and very comfortable with all the features a family loves (washer/dryer, cable, Internet, etc...). Most of all, the place is quiet, safe and has a wonderful pool where my wife and I would have great coffee and conversation each morning amidst a beautiful garden setting as we plotted our daily adventures. I highly recommend this place. I consider it an incredible value. We stayed five nights this past August and will definitely stay again on future trips. Pura Vida!

Lovely Place - Everything you need for a great stay in Manual Antonio

  • 5 of 5

We met up with my niece and husband for a weeks vacation in this Condo. On arrival it exceeded our expectations. The ground floor is open plan, modern and airy. The two bedrooms on the 1st floor although simple were great. Air con in all rooms although we often just had the ceiling fans on.

Great to have a dip in the pool before or after our daily excursions out. We hired a car so it was just a minutes drive down to Quepos town. (Didn't try it but I think 10-15 min walk).

Although peak season, because most of the properties belong to the owners and not necessarily rented out when they are not there, this meant we often had the pool to ourselves. There's also a communal BBQ near the pool which we didn't get a chance to try it out. Hammock was a favourite with my husband!

The property is in a gated complex and has an office which is open from 8am-6pm(I think) and then a gateman who lets you in 24/7. So it felt very secure. Not because we felt it was dangerous but Hire Cars can be easy pickings.

During the week I had a few queries and the manager and others I spoke to at the office were really friendly and helped us out immediately.

If you want to be just outside the town but not to far then this is the place.

Oh mustn't forget John the owner, I gave him a hard time with lots of emails and lots of questions and he always responded immediately and was very accommodating with any requests I made. Thanks John. Hope we can come back to visit this lovely place again.

Quaint Quepos

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three nights here, came from the Nicoya and what a difference the mainland offers. Really like the pool and the convenience of town being just a short walk over the hill. There is a quick mart at the top of the driveway entrance that is great for fresh eggs and bananas for breakfast! Very clean and spacious unit, with easy access to Quepos and the bus to Manuel Antonio (85 cents) Thanks for a wonderful CR experience, oh yeah the water is safe to drink in all of CR, but they took my shells at the airport!

Awesome stay in Quepos

  • 5 of 5

My family (incl 2 small children) just got back from a wonderful 3 week stay at this villa. Really we couldn't have asked for anything more - from the beautiful pool to the poolside BBQ to the comfortable open layout to the well stocked kitchen to the wifi and AC - we were super pleased with EVERYTHING. I loved the tropical vegetation with mountain views from the pool. Spectacular. We didn't rent a car so we depended on the $2 taxi ride to Quepos - very easy and cheap. There is also a bus right out front every 30 minutes. We liked the slightly out of town location because it was quiet and peaceful yet close enough. I definitely would recommend this villa to anyone, especially families, who are interested in a the conveniences of staying in a condo versus a hotel.
