Sleep in one of our three master suites, each with spa style master baths, in a tranquil silence assured by advanced sound engineering. Arise and make your choice of early morning experiences: a plunge into an expansive, shaded, sky spa pool, or watch the sunrise from one a top observation decks high above green acres of a private canyon forested by ancient oaks and mountain laurels. Cook and serve breakfast in one of two complete kitchens, and then simply enjoy 4,000 square feet of interior and exterior living space. Whether you lease the Guest House or the Guest House and the Grand Loft, your party of 2 to 10 persons, you will be guests in a home that will grant you a memorable experience, close to downtown austin, and near the elegant Domain shopping area.

About Roger

Zen Canyon was designed and built to my specifications by akiHomes, a portfolio company of akiCapital. For several decades, I have practiced Zen and lived from time to time in monasteries where I sought tranquility, simplicity, and peace in spiritual space. I built the 3 leval Grand Loft of this home for myself, and the 2 level Guest House and Sky Blue Pool for visits by my children, grand children, and closed friends. My friends at HomeAway suggested that I extend an invitation to people who may be seeking a getaway retreat in the heart of Austin.

Why Roger chose Austin

My private estate, which I have named Zen Canyon, is located high on the ridge of a deep, expansive canyon filled with trees and families of deer and other wild life. Our canyon is located on North Cat Mountain, the first mountain north of Cat Mountain which is north of Austin's famous Mt. Bonnel. Zen Canyon evokes a sense of connection to the surrounding canyon below, and green tree tops and blue sky above. At Zen Canyon, 'inside and outside form an inseparable pair..., linking the two in a balanced relationship.'

  • Our spa style baths and showers are modeled on spas, and all have travertine tile and special shower fixtures. There are no bath tubs. The half bath, though it does not have a shower, has a sunken sink and with a dressing room style cabinet and polished imported tile counter top.

Notes: In planning your visit to Zen Canyon, please talk to the prfoperty manager first. You have the option of using only the Guest House, which is a complete home with a separate entrances, separate observation decks, doors opening to the Sky Blue Pool, 2 Master Suites and 2 Master Baths, and full Kitchen and Dinning Area. Perfect for a family, a couple and up to 4 children, 2 of whom would share one of the Master Suites--2 additional children could use the fouton in the living area. Many of our guests reserve the Guest House only, but some parties choose to also reserve the Grand Loft, which is separated from the Guest House, and which sleeps up to 4, a couple plus 2 children--when you call, ask if the Grand Loft is available is you have a large party. Note: this space is not for groups, but for corporate groups and families only. It is not available for events. Guests are asked not to smoke or engage in the use of drugs, and to restrict the use of alcohol to wine and beer.
