COSMOPOLITAN STUDIO IN UPSCALE HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOOD

Seattle Studio Rental Photos and Description

Studio,1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Natural light pours into spacious kitchen area with western sunset view, with a glimpse of the Olympics, for one or two people. Eating counter with stools is adjacent to spacious cooking area for conversation and comraderie. Exhaust fan to outdoors and adjustable mood lighting are over counter. Two steps down to cozy bedroom area with queen bed, easy chairs with reading lights and high ceilings. Fully enclosed bath house with hot tub and French doors opening onto side deck on the other side of the house is available to guests; or take a short walk to lake views of Mt. Rainier and the Cascades where there are blocks of elegant homes and gardens from 1920's. Mt. Baker Park , an Olmstead legacy park a block down the hill , has tennis courts and a great kids' playground, A five minute walk takes you to lakefront with supervised beach area, and further down is the Rowing and Sailing Center with boat ramp and sailboat rental. It's on a jogging/bike path extending six miles, ending in Seward Park, a peninsula of original growth forest with its own beach and outdoor summer concerts.

At the corner across from the park, Café Mioposto is open long hours with a full bar. The building has a Pilates studio, hair salon and pet shop. It's a five block walk to grocery store and pharmacy, Light Rail line to airport and downtown. City bus stops in front of the house.

Seattle is known for good bookstores, live music and theatre, and a variety of restaurants, most with outdoor dining in the summer. Gourmands appreciate food sources like the Pike Place Market and weekly neighborhood farmers' markets. Crafters appreciate sources for knitting/weaving yarn (about seven stores in the area), jewelry, quilting and woodworking supplies. Shopaholics love Bellevue Square just across the lake, and the Nordstrom Rack!

Use this property as a base for day trips to outdoor recreation in the greater area, whether mountains or Sound, including Victoria, B.C.; explore the islands of Puget Sound, go to the Lavender Festival or the Bellevue Arts Festival in July, attend the Hydroplane races in August-the course is a few blocks from the house. Relax on long summer nights with sunset views from the studio or the deck, or cozy up to your favorite book or TV inside. Deck chairs provided for sunset views in front of the door in fair weather months.

About Suzanna Plumb

Retired educator and librarian, my passions are textile crafts, jewelry making, antique refinishing, some gardening and home décor. Fluent French speaker and working to attain fluency in Italian, I'm a Europhile with my vine-covered main deck! I prize the cool summers (mostly) in Seattle and access to the ocean and the waters of Puget Sound, and two great NPR stations. I have two Siamese cats .

Suzanna Plumb purchased this studio in 1974

Why Suzanna Plumb chose Seattle

Developed the studio apartment in 1989. A great neighborhood should be shared with those who cannot purchase in this prime area! Remodeled in December 2010.

What makes this studio unique

Quick access to beautiful areas on foot. The sense of history and groundedness in staying in the house that was built to promote the area in 1905, and the authenticity of its architecture. The presence of a variety of plants on the decks, hot tub house and in the yard. A quiet neighborhood close to downtown, yet on a huge lake resembling the lakes of Italy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

First trip to Seattle. Had fun using the kitchen and the teapot. Great spot to take a run. great weather despite daily reports of rain. The sun was out for a bit every single day! Yea for the Light Rail!

Great getaway location

  • 5 of 5
Spent a weekend at this studio. It has a great location and a very nice setup. You can do a lot from this location on foot. Wish we would have brought our bikes to do some riding. We spent the day walking the parks and enjoyed the Italian restaurant around the corner. Would definitely recommend.

Mother's Day Getaway

Mother's Day Getaway

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this lovely little studio. Our daughter lives in the city and this was a very convenient short drive to her apartment. Our activities were centered around downtown;took in the underground Seattle tour, Seattle Center museums and Pike Market. Lots of good food. This location is private and welcoming. A great hub for our activities and a comfy place to relax and the end of the day.

Our four day stay in Seattle

  • 5 of 5
We found this studio to be the perfect place for us to stay. It is quiet and comfortable and well-equipped and just lovely. Our grandchildren live close by and they were able to stay with us as they are small and fit well in their sleeping bags on the carpeted floor. They loved it. And each morning we fixed breakfast and enjoyed this time together while in the evening we were cozy on the comfortable bed as we watched a few movies. My husband stated that the owner was the perfect innkeeper, as she was friendly and helpful but respected our privacy and our time together. We definitely plan to return and will make our reservation early so that we can be certain this lovely place is available. We loved walking to Mt. Baker Park as well as to the gem of a pub/cafe which is just around the corner. We couldn't have wished for more.

Fantastic studio space, perfect for a Seattle retreat!

  • 5 of 5
We visited Seattle last fall/winter, and stayed in this lovely unit for one week. It's absolutely perfect for a couple, with enough space to spread out and be at home for a longer period of time.

I was so happy we chose this over a hotel, or another rental. Having a full kitchen was ideal, we were able to save money on meals by eating breakfast at home, and had access to a large refrigerator to store leftovers from restaurants and a microwave & stove to reheat. The bed was so comfy, more than ours at home! Firm mattress, an abundance of pillows, and high-quality linens. Great bathroom with nice water pressure in the shower, always important. Also plenty of storage with drawers and a closet, so we could stay organized during the trip.

The best part was the private hot tub!! What a lovely little greenhouse space. It was chilly enough when we were there to keep the glass French doors closed, but in warmer weather it opens out to a sweet little deck, which is also very private both from the street and the main house. The gardens are beautiful even in the winter.

The neighborhood of Mount Baker was the perfect home-base, with plenty of beautiful, historic homes and within walking distance of the lake and many other amenities. The bus & light rail system are very accessible right outside the property, giving easy access to the "hustle and bustle" of Seattle, which was one of the most fun cities we have visited. GREAT foodie culture and restaurants, not to even mention coffee.

This unit is exceptionally quiet and private, with the entrance set back away from the street, and very bright and cheery. The owner has it equipped with all the kitchenware, towels and other accessories you could want, along with tons of information on Seattle, getting around, and fun ideas for your trip.

Don't miss out on this great space! We will definitely be back.

We had a very good experience staying here. The room had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. I often have trouble sleeping on beds that aren't my own but I slept great! High quality linens and towels. I love nice towels!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5
We visited for two nights and it was the perfect place for just the two of us. We were in town to see baseball at Safeco and generally relax. It was easy to find, not too far off I-5. Parking was right across the street. The house is an easy walk (maybe about 10-15 minutes) to light rail which goes right to the stadiums and on to downtown, as well as to the airport. Also within walking distance of a couple grocery stores, the lake, a park, and a cute little pizza place/coffee shop. The neighborhood was very quiet and relaxing. We didn't use our car at all while we were there.

The studio was clean and comfortable. Kitchen had a small stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher (we didn't use it), regular coffee pot, a french press (VERY thankful for that!) and plenty of dishes/silverware for two people.

Suzanne was a very gracious hostess. We exchanged many emails and she was very helpful.

We'll definitely be staying again on future trips to Seattle!

Mt. Baker is one of the oldest developed residential neighborhoods in Seattle, cleared in the 1900's. My house was the model for development which took place mostly in the 1920's. Elegant homes and landscaping surround the rental, with scenic walks along the lake with mountain views and lake swimming areas. Sailing center nearby where boats can be rented. Located south of downtown with easy access to downtown and airport via Light Rail. Situated near Columbia City, with upscale bars and small restaurants, as well as inexpensive ethnic restaurants in walking distance.
