I am a military brat that was born in Okinawa. I grew up in Fayetteville and went to school here as well. I lived in Houston and worked in construction and real estate but I just had to come 'home' to the beautiful Ozarks and Fayetteville. I have two beautiful kids and live near by..
Patricia purchased this house in 2011
This house Is very old and it was about to be sold to a developer that wanted to destroy the old log home. I simply could not let that happen so I purchase it and renovated it to a point. I have provided a book at the property for visitors to peruse if they wish. It has a long history to tell.
Save history AND the property. It is wonderful to sit on the back deck and smell the fresh air, the birds and have a yard large enough to enjoy. It is close to all activities in the area but not to close. Those of you that like to travel with you dog or cat bring them on. The big backyard is a perfect spot for them to get a little 'playtime' in, We have bags in the house to put your 'pooper Scooper' stuff in. The evenings are quiet and the air is fresh and you just have to sit back on the deck or by the fire pit and take a deep breath...you are now officially in heaven...OK, maybe a little over stated but good land, I feel that way.
We enjoyed our stay in Elkins, Arkansas for a delightful wedding weekend. The house has a pleasant front porch, a back deck, and large grounds that provided a beautiful fall setting. Patricia was extremely flexible and helpful with answering all of our questions. She even provided a large folding table for our use in working on wedding flowers. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen including milk and juice in the refrigerator and a welcoming giant chocolate chip cookie!
We stayed here last year and enjoyed it so much we came back again this year. The location is great - very "country" with lots of space for the kids to run around, yet very close to Fayetteville. The house itself is also very cool - very historic and charming and "homey" :-)
This the third time my wife and I have stayed here. Everything was wonderful just like the other two. My brother and his wife joined us for a night and they fell in love with the place just like we have. He told me that it reminded him of a house we use to live in down in South Arkansas. Two words sum up this place. Rustic Charm. And of course, we will be staying again.
We had the pleasure of staying in this house last week. There were 4 adults and we would have had room for kids too. The house is well equipped with all the comforts of home. The carport was great for keeping the motorcycles over night so we didn't have to wipe down the bikes.
The milk, juice and water were a welcome surprise in the kitchen. We also really enjoyed the ice cream treats in freezer! Great after a long day riding the hills.
We would stay here again!
This house was much larger than we thought from the web pictures. Could really be described as a 3 BD/ 2 BA. Kitchen had all of the essentials plus we were stocked with a few extras upon arrival (juice, ice cream, pop corn). Beds were very comfortable. Very nice lot with a nice back deck to enjoy.
It was an EASY drive to U of A. Convenient to grocery store.
We stayed here during our visit to Arkansas for a football game. Our group consisted of 4 adults and 3 children. The pictures and descriptions of the house are very accurate. It actually felt bigger than I was expecting.
The upstairs loft area was a great place for the kids to sleep and hang out. The entire house felt spacious and there was plenty of room for us to all spread out.
The only bathroom with a shower is off the master bedroom. It was fine for us and we all just took turns taking showers, but it might be an issue for anyone who requires more privacy. Sometimes the plumbing in old houses can be an issue, but it worked excellent for us.
All of the fixtures and appliances were clean, modern, and in good working order.
You can really tell that the owner put much effort into making sure we had anything we needed. There were extra (soft and fluffy) towels and bed linens tucked all through the house. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook and eat several meals at the house. There was even milk and OJ left for us in the fridge.
The drive to Fayetteville is an easy one and takes about 15 minutes or less. We got a taxi to take us to and from the football game for $40 each way. Not too bad! There is a nice grocery store, Sonic and pizza place less than a mile away.
We took one day to visit War Eagle Mill, War Eagle Cavern and Turpentine Creek Wildlife Park. The drive to the Mill was right around 30 minutes and was beautiful.
This is a great place to bring kids or to just relax and get away from it all. We will be back the next time the Aggies play in Arkansas!
