About Herschel Collins

I started skiing at Sugarloaf in 1959. I lived in another ski house owned by dad and mom 1977 to 1979 with my 2 young sons and traveled to University of Maine Farmington to get a degree in education. Later, in 1986 , I traveled from Vermont to do a major renovation on that same ski house. I built this present home with Jim and Antonio in 1995 for my dad and his wife, Mary. We traveled from our home in Vermont every week to build the home.I bought this present ski house from my brother and sister and Dad's wife recently after the death of my father and I am now the sole owner. I love this country and the people. Jane and I enjoy the summer as much as the winter with many fun summer sports.

Herschel Collins purchased this house in 2010

Why Herschel Collins chose Carrabassett Valley

Dad and Mary and I and family have put our heart and soul into this home and I hope you will enjoy it as much.

Notes:
The wood stove is an excellent Vermont Castings stove but its use would have to be discussed with the owner. Experienced wood burners only, please. The house is very comfortable with the central heat. The house will heat from 50 to 70 in the time it takes to unload and get settled in. The housekeeper visits one day before renter arrival and turns up the heat to 70
