Beautifully restored Medina riad owned by a London-based interior designer. The riad was renovated using local craftsman and traditional building materials.
The riad is located within walking distance to all the major tourist attractions including the Baadi and Bahia Palaces, the Koranic School, the Jamal Fnaa and the many souks of the Medina. There is a large selection of excellent restaurants, both Moroccan and European, within a short stroll.
The riad is built around a courtyard that is open to the skies of Morocco. On the ground floor there is a b'hou (open seating area off the courtyard), a double bedroom with hammam style en-suite, a guest WC and kitchen. Located off the balcony on the first floor is the master bedroom with hammam style en-suite, the salon with open fire, TV, DVD and a single bedroom with access to the roof terrace. On the terrace is a tented seating area, a dining table for eight people and two sun loungers.
We have an English and French speaking house manager, Mohammed, who will organise for you to be greeted at the airport and transferred to the riad. During your stay our wonderful housekeeper, Rachida, can provide meals on request. Mohammed can also organise taxis for excursions and tours. Mohammed is also a qualified Berber trekking guide and can organise trips for all levels including treks with children.
Denis is a London based interior designer.
Denis Doff purchased this house in 2000
Father lived in Casablanca in the 1930s and this was an inspiration for buying and restoring a property in the ancient medina of Marrakech.
Denis was able to create a tranquil oasis in the bustling medina of Marrakech with all the inspirations of this exotic city. Influenced by the amazing colours and flavours of Morocco all around.
This property is a "must stay at" while visiting Marrakech. It is comfortable, spacious, quiet and yet the market is right out the front door. The accomodations, furnishings and amenities were all top shelf. The cook and housekeeper was pleasant, made extremely well tasting Moroccan food for us and catered to our every request. The onsight representative that takes care of the property, arranges excursions and travel was very pleasant, again catered to us in every way and ensured our comfort while there.
I highly recommend this riad if you want to experience the Moroccan way of life in Marrakech. We will be returning and staying here in the uture.
Great experience from start to finish. Denise the owner was very helpful with the booking and providing suggestions of what not to miss. The Riad is very well kept up, in the perfect location, and a welcoming home base during our Marrakech holiday.
Rachida and Mohamed were very helpful and charming during our stay. The dinners Rachida prepared were excellent! Our trip to the Atlas with Mohamed was a highlight of our holiday.
If I am lucky enough to go back to Marrakech I hope we can stay at Riad Lucas again.
The Riad is situated in the heart of the old town. Only a few minutes walk from the main square and even closer to all the Souks. It is beautifully decorated and you have everything you need in a little oasis.
It is amazingly quiet at night, given the central location, Rachida cooked fantastic meals as and when we asked and catered for me as a vegetarian (the others not).
Mohamed greeted us at the airport and helped with any questions we had. He went out of his way to arrange a trip to the atlas mountains which catered for my mother with limited mobility. She was well looked after.
A great find!
The riad has been restored but has retained it's Moroccan origins which gives it a nice ambience. Location is very good being only a few minutes walk from the Fnaa and all the other main attractions. After a bustling day out it was nice to return and relax on the quiet, sunny terrace.
We visited a number of local restaurants including La Fondouk which was excellent.
Rachida made breakfast for us each day whilst Mohammed was very helpful and organised transport to and from the airport.
Staying at the riad gave us a wonderful taste of the unique life in the Marrakech medina.
The Riad is a 15 minute taxi ride from Marrakech Menara Airport (20 minutes door to door).
The Riad is located a five minute walk from the world famous Jamal Fnaa market place and only a minute from the carpet and spice markets and a minute from souk sameraine (the main souk). Being located close to the Jamal Fnaa means that the riad is in a safe neighbourhood and transportation is always available.
All of the major tourist attractions are within walking distance of the riad - Baadi Palace, Bahia Palace, Koranic School, Musee de Marrakech, Jamal Fnaa, Saadian Tombs etc.
